Still not liking the designs.Please let the show be good.

Figured we'd get individual epithets for the Ryusoulgers. I can dig it!

Hopefully the description of the "hot-blooded leader" for RyusoulRed won't get some people too annoyed.

Hot- blooded is pretty much expected at this point.

What I'm more worried about is yet another "Red does everything and why even bother having the others" Sentai... which unfortunately is also pretty much expected at this point.

My thoughts on the scans:

- There isn't much to say about the Rangers themselves at this stage, but I do see some potential.

- The villain designs are not very clear in the presented scans, but I'm not thrilled with what I do see, though there is one exception...

- The Ryusoul Red will clearly use his RyuSoul to transform Tyramigo into KishiRyuOh!

- KishiRyuOh looks to be very agile and the design is growing on me!

- KishiRyuOh's Finisher may utilize the Tyramigo head, which as the scans indicate, can detach from the chest and reattach along the wrist, giving the Mecha Knight a Tyranno Head Arm Weapon!

- KishiRyuOh's "Lego Gattai" System is awkward and amusing at the same time.

- It's clear that KishiRyuOh Three Knights is battling some kind of Monster who looks like a fire-breathing dragon or dinosaur, and this is the exception because the villain design here is actually good and more like an Ultraman Monster than one from Sentai!

- The Strongest Battle Event may be the most interesting here, cause there will be multiple Rangers involved, with some actors coming back to reprise their roles. I sincerely hope that Hasbro is watching closely! It may take a long time to get to this point when it comes to adaptation, but it should seriously be considered!

- The Main Architect is named "Rita", and the Planet Nemesis is the same planet that Bandora's Prison was located on in the beginning of Zyuranger! Whether or not Hasbro is looking closely, Toei certainly is!

- The villains have "MinuSouls" which are a corrupted variety to the RyuSouls. This might serve to explain Gaizorg.

- Ryusoulgers VS. Kyoryuger VS. Abaranger VS. Zyuranger! Either in the Strongest Battle or in a future Team-Up! Just saying.

I LOVE the mecha designs! Also, "The Brave Knight" and "hot-blooded leader". I'm not getting good vibes from this year's red ranger.

Alright, a new dino dance song! Brave In! Wait a.......

Still, I'm good for this if it's less fan service-y than LuPat.

This looks very typical and "safe."

That mecha is ugly as sin, no matter how many times I look at it.
Hopefully seeing it in action will help me warm up to it.

Anyway, I'm still willing to give it a chance. I don't mind shows playing it safe if they still do it well.
Considering they tried something new with LuPat and fucked it over, I just want to see Sentai done decently again.

Loving the designs and the concepts so far. This sounds fun and visually has some great potential in movement.

So Tyramigo's taking the Go-Buster mecha approach where Red's partner can be a stand-alone mech while the others can combine with it to make the full thing.

I like it.

Also the arm weapons are basically Armed On modes from Kyoryuger. The more I see, the more Kyoryuger it feels. As someone who loved and still loves Kyoryuger, I'm all over this.

The quick, one sentence summaries of the rangers are giving me major red alerts. So major that I can hear a loud voice deep in myself hoping this show bombs.

Please Ryusoulger, please be good, I beg you.

That is... really encouraging. Female Sentai heroes are almost never the strongest member of the team, and usually, there's at least a whiff of gender-essentialism. (I mean, "the horned brave?" Seriously?) Heck, the strongest member of the team is usually the red hero. Has Sentai done this before? The only case I can think of could've been NinjaWhite; I only saw the first episode of Kakuranger, so I dunno.

If she has a personality outside the two or three we usually see, I'll flip my lid.

NinjaWhite was the level headed member of the team, honestly the only one who wasn't a raging idiot for the first half :lol

They just need to make Red as likeable as Yamato. Or even if they need him to be hot blooded, please at least be a good actor. We had to suffer through early Lucky and Takaharu's entire tenure because of bad acting.

I hope they make him as hot blooded as Gao Red or Hurricane Red. They were just the right amount I felt if I am remembering it correctly.

If I remember correctly, horned brave is supposed to be about her legs, Which the camera would tend to focus on and Kyoryupink would often kick. I'm pretty sure Koichi Sakamoto directed Kyoryuger and I believe he has a kink for legs
lmao I love how you say 'early Lucky' as it's true that Lucky becomes significantly better around the time they introduced Tsurugi. Also, I ended up dropping Ninninger but the issue with Takaharu was that in a similar way to Daigo, he took a lot of spotlight and didn't do much to grow with it. Unlike Daigo however, this came at the cost of his teammates

It is a good thing he didn't direct Gaim or a certain peach rider would get a lot of focus.

Marika's suit actor was a dude so probably not

Tsukui was both suit, voice and body for Marika, actualy

Wait what? *double checks* Oh I must have thought of Poppy. Oops

I will say that I'm getting even more excited for this every day! I do kinda like the designs of the foot soldiers, although they do kinda look like they're repurposed form the Porderman. Not complaining though, the Porderman looked awesome!

The villains they're fighting look kinda vague but I'm assuming that they're monsters of the week so i'm not really sweating it too much. When I look back through sentai history I forget how many monsters there have been! so i'm not really worried about the monster of the week designs for now...

the suits still look nice, and the mecha is growing on me. very excited for the premiere! :)

Minusoul makes me think "Minnow soul" cause they're the small fish.

Might be a bit, but I think Hasbro is going to have some big plans for this one and the next couple of series after.
There's some ample toy potential here too.

The notion of an evil ranger-like enemy has me hooked and here's hoping its better than LuPat.

That's assuming we're keeping to simplistic notions of what "strong" is. Which given the fandom's tendency to obsess over minutia, it seems we are.

While it's unlikely Hasbro had any involvement with this show. It's a pretty safe bet they went back to dinosaurs so soon, because of Hasbro. Probably so they could have something easy to work with, and able to push the nostalgia angle in the marketing.

Bringing back planet Nemesis could also be part of that. Maybe there's going to be some Bandora Palace style imagery.

Wasn't my intent to suggest that Hasbro was involved in the conceptual phase, merely to suggest that Hasbro should be paying attention to EVERYTHING that comes out!

With many Rangers involved in the Strongest Battle, it's worthy of adaptation, but there are many elements to consider: The "Thus-Far-Unused-Sentai" including: Much of Pre-Zyu, ToQger, Zyuohger, Kyuranger, Lupinranger VS. Patranger!

It would take some time before we ever get to an adaptation phase unless something radical changes and Hasbro moves faster than light itself!

I also think that Toei is paying attention to P.R. with the dual reference to Rita and Bandora! I don't know exactly why they are doing it outside of a wink and a nod. Since Zyuranger established Planet Nemesis, and the Mini-Series is going to serve as an "Early Bird" Cameo for the new Dinosaur Sentai Ryusoulger, then they could've wanted to reference the first Dinosaur Sentai in the process. Since the nature of using Team-Up Movies to "Early Bird" the New Sentai has clearly changed, the idea of using a Mini-Series to end the Heisei Era and "Early Bird" Ryusoulger could've made the concept seem practical. Naming the new character "Rita" could've been to take advantage of P.R. naming conventions, in much the same way as Go-Busters did, and since Go-Busters is the newly adapted Sentai-to-P.R. for 2019, Toei could be "honoring" P.R. and Go-Busters by naming the character "Rita" as a nod to both the P.R. franchise and a nod to Go-Busters being adapted and for that series using P.R. names in an official Sentai!

Do you think hiring a head writer from outside of the established tokusatsu writer pool for literally the first time in franchise history indicates an effort on Toei's part to play it safe?

I mean, there's no doubt that conceptually -- as far as the look and the toys are concerned -- they are treading on familiar ground. But I'm not sure that will have much impact on the actual show, given the apparent effort to bring in a fresh voice to steer the ship.

I see the whole Rita thing as just a small nod to PR, kind of like how SSSS Gridman where 2 characters names came from Superhuman Samurai Syber Squad.

I was replying to Matrix's comment about the show, not the toys. Yes, the toys and designs are "safe," but the choice of head writer indicates that this is not going to be a "playing it safe" show.

Because that is literally all there is to it. There is literally nothing else to discuss about this argument

I disagree. I find it pretty noteworthy when Toei does something they’ve never done with Sentai before (hiring a writer outside their usual toku stable as head writer for the first time in franchise history) especially in a conversation about playing it safe. I specifically think that that is not a safe choice. I also presented my post in the form of a question — which you have not answered, instead preferring to be snarky or whatever.

It might be helpful to address the content of a post before assuming the poster is a dimwit.

There definitely was more to discuss about the show than what we saw with the toy releases at the time (i.e. the production staff), and I was sincerely curious how Toei doing something unprecedented behind the scenes impacted the perception that they are playing it safe with Ryusoulger the show as opposed to Ryusoulger the toyline.

I still am curious.
