S.H.Figuarts Kamen Rider Evol (Phase 1.2.3. Set)
 

The next release for the S.H.Figuarts Kamen Rider Build series is none other than the big bad himself, Kamen Rider Evol!

And boy do Tamashii have something special in store for us! Not only will you be able to display him in his Phase 1 form, Cobra Form, but also Phase 2 (Dragon Form) as well as Phase 3, Rabbit Form! This is achieved via exchangeable heads, shoulders and chest parts.

This amazing set includes:

Three alternate left hands, four alternate right hands, replacement chest parts, one Phase 2 exchange head, Phase 2 exchange shoulder parts, one Phase 3 exchange head, Phase 3 exchange shoulder parts, one Cobra Evol bottle, one Rider Evol bottle, one Rabbit Evol bottle and one Dragon Evol bottle.

The S.H.Figuarts Kamen Rider Evol (Phase 1.2.3. Set) is a Web-Exclusive release in November 2019 for 8800¥, pre-orders will open tomorrow, June 21st in Japan.

Oh this is super nice! I think Evol's base form is more visually interesting than his Black Hole form, and the fact that this figure can even change into his two other looks is an amazing icing on the very beautiful cake. He probably won't have any weapons, which in this case I'm far less bothered by than with Cronos.

Still amazes me to this day that this is what you get if Cobra Commander turned out to be an evil version of E.T.

YES! I knew they'd do the form swaps with his release, with only the head and shoulder pads swapping around it was too easy for them not to. I'm all over this.

Absolutely magnificent. Did not expect them to release him with all the alternate parts at all. I'd always assumed Phase 1 would be its own release while a Phase 2/3 set would be separate. Thrilled to see it all there in one package. Just lovely!

you don't really need to have the weapons release with with unless you don't have the other riders

I'm very glad that they started to incorporate swappable parts for form changes in the recent years, it's just much nicer to swap heads and display Evol in a couple of different ways instead of buying basically the same figure three times.

Also, finally: Evol! One of the best villains Kamen Rider has ever had, we had to wait way too long for this. But better late than never.

Regarding the weapons topic: I'm only mad when they exclude weapons which actually belong to a Rider or a form, for guys like Evol who can summon weapons from other forms it's not really necessary to include them IMO. Like, sure it’d be nice, but I rather take the extra heads & shoulders for his Phase 2 & 3 forms.

Yeah, Evol doesn't really use any weapons. At a stretch I think I maybe remembered him using the steam blade once or twice...? But it was mostly his fists, kicks and magic energy bullshit. So it's AWESOME to see him get so much here!

He did use the "Creation"-gimmick of the Evol Driver to summon the Hawk Gatlinger once and used the Beat Closer & the Drill Crusher in Phase 2 / 3 respectively.

Aside from that it was only the Steam Blade I think. He also had the Nebulasteam Gun at one point but he snatched the one from Rogue, he didn't summon it.

But since these weapons are stolen or summoned via Fullbottles I don’t really care. I only need them if they belong to a form. Rabbit/Tank needs a Drill Crusher, Cross-Z Dragon needs a Beat Closer, but Evolt doesn’t need any weapons himself.

If anything it would be cool if he had an energy blast effect but effect pieces for Rider SHF's have died out a long time ago.

They did everything right with this release IMO, swappable parts for his other forms are great and a good selection of hands is pretty nice as well.

Agreed with all that. I think the one exception I could think of is Gold Drive since stealing and wielding the weapons of other riders was his big thing.

Here with Evol, I think he has everything he needs to be properly presented and then some in one purchase. It still boggles my mind that Cronus didn't have his signature weapon but Poppy and Genm Lv0 (who only used it once even!) did come with it.

Well, this is a welcome surprise. Glad to see the Big Bad Black-Hole man worked his way into Tamashii's good books.

Bandai you madmen. I legitimately want to get this with Evol being my favorite part of the show and characters the past few years. But, yeah, the moneys.

The price is the one thing making me go "... Ah. Right. I'll wait for Black Hole then"

Phase 1, 2 and 3? BOUGHT!

Honestly this is a better deal to me than Black Hole. Not only are we getting parts to replicate Evol Cobra, Dragon and Rabbit, but I'm pretty sure Black Hole's coat tails are going to prove a massive pain when it comes out.

Come to think of it, I don't think we've seen one of the caped Build suits even at an event yet. Cross-Z Build, Cross-Z Evol... it might just be that they'll all use similar technology to Wizard for their longcoats. A stretch, sure; but we've seen nothing yo prove they'll go down the same path as Cronus and Legacy Gamer just yet...

Are there any places that don't require upfront payment?

I just realised this, but Evol Cobra's chestplate's golden circle piece resembles a freaking cobra! You can make out a small cobra head in front of the neck and a tail near the left shoulder area.

Maaaaaaaaaaan... If only this didn't come out the same month as freaking Saber Alter 2.0.
