Kishiryu Sentai RyuSoulger Episode 15- "King Of The Deep Sea!" Discussion
Canalo refuses to interact with the other RyuSoulgers but a surprising newcomer may end up changing his mind on the group.

No tension. The 6th ranger like these are forgettable. It's always something silly and fillerish attach to their character profile. I kind of miss the strong 6th ranger that gets the job done. Kyoryugold started as one, but end up being the joke. It's like woz is past 20 episodes.

Something you have to keep in mind with 6th rangers is that what you're describing is literally the trope they were trapped in for a decade.
New ranger shows up that is literally better than the whole team with a chip on their shoulder or just feels they're superior for one reason or another. While I can understand not wanting to see strong characters become jokes, you also have to keep in mind that if you want Sentai to stop being so formulaic, they have to attempt to change some things. |

I could see the running bride gag being a huge filler/personal focus epsiode for gold like some of Ash male companions from pokemon. I don't see they have budget to dwell in to Atlantis aspect.

I kinda liked that Kreons' personal weapon is a huge fork! Along with Banba, he really is turning out to be my favorite character from the show. And I don't know whether that's good or bad.

Eh. Maybe we've just been spoiled by better 6th Sentai team members. I do like though that the undersea RyuSoul tribe members don't age as quickly. It's kind of what Matrixbeast mentioned. Little quirks that deviate from the standard tropes we had in the Heisei era that maybe will be different in Reiwa Sentai.
Although the thought of a 150 year old girl that looks 14 looking for a husband is a touch toward the creepy otaku scale. I'll just stop talking about it and chalk it up to my imagination driving off the cliff. I do like the DinoKnight Neptune Gattai a lot. |

Why Japan ? Just fucking why ? |
Oto is a child and nothing can tell me otherwise.
Kanalo taking advice from MosaRex is kind of fun but the rangers not getting along when in ten episode's time they'll probably be best buds gets repetitive. |
Soooooo if I pissed on his hand could Kanalo talk with MosaRex?
|
Why do I get the feeling they will say it " has to be pure water " at one point ?
Which would be kinda of silly, mainy because his main power is lightning based. |
I bet the VFX department hates Sakamoto, but their hard work really pays off. The stellar special effects paired with his exciting choreography always make for some energetic episodes.
Though the pacing wasn't as solid and the writing was a little on the nose, this episode was an action masterpiece. I loved the first roll-call and the mech effects near the end were extremely well-done as well. Plus, those underwater effects, practical and CG, look really damn good. We get another layer to Canalo's character as we learn that the reason for him not wanting to help the other Ryusoulger's is due to pressure from MosaRex. The idea that the Ryusoul Tribe's were at war at one point leading to the sea tribe distancing themselves from the rest is great world-building and I wish we saw more of this in the show, and it also provides a good reason for Canalo and MosaRex to distrust the land tribes The MotW plot involving those with strong bonds repelling each other is again, kind of heavy-handed, but it really clearly visually illustrates that Canalo is breaking down his boundaries and showing his true feelings despite MosaRex's insistence. Though abducting his sister Oto is kind of a lame trope, it led to a really clever resolution to the showdown showcasing both a debut for MosaRex (in a Jurassic World-inspired scene) and the return of KishiryuOh Five-Knights. Also I am glad they aren't showing all of RyuSoul Gold's arsenal all at once. The slow-burn is refreshing. Also very cool visual tool to use sources of water to show Canalo communicating with his Kishiryu. Honestly this show just gets better and better. |
