Loved this episode - comedy is, as always, quite funny and the character development was really good, especially between Fuwa and Yua.
We learn that Yua has remorse for her actions, and even admits to Fuwa that she may betray him in the future. Meanwhile, Fuwa has his doubts about Yua because of the leaked video but decides to save her due to his beliefs. Revealing that video to Fuwa was fast, this show does not waste any time. Ansatsu-chan ends up being mentored by the guest of the week actor in some funny/charming scenes. He is starting to become a fully developed character as well. The plot of the week mirrored Fuwa and Yua's inner conflicts really well. Great use of almost all the main suits today too. And we're definitely not getting a Gatling Hedgehog form in-show but it was cool to see the Progrise key used in the Attache Shotgun. Fight choreography is fantastic, as expected. Izu continues to charm. Reveal of the Zaia CEO, Gai Amatsu. 1000% eh... We already know who this guy is gonna end up becoming. |
Huh, this thread is dead?
It's a very good episode! |

Izu doing charades was sort of adorable. |

Zero-one keeps it's veeeeery good quality overall. But nothing really new. Good interactions between characters, no extended/secrets plot kept too long like other show have done, the show wants to go forward. Kudos for making Ansatsu-chan so lovable. We expected him to be our random 1 week or 2 only mook when he appeared, but he is a well developped character now. |
I wonder how long they plan to keep Ansatsu-chan? He seems to be developing quite nicely. Stole the spotlight from Jin this episode.
So we have a face to put on Thouser now it seems. His debut must not be far away from now. I liked the dynamic between Fuwa and Yaiba this episode. But it seems that Yaiba is more a Zaia employee than an A.I.M.S. agent, doesn't it? And Izu miming was a good gag. |
So lets start placing bets on who Santa is coming to kill this year. I bet $5 that Yua gets back stabbed by Thouzer.
Heres hoping it's with a candy cane shank just to add to her festive death. |
Part of me gets the feeling Fuwa might kick the dust...

I did not expect this episode to be two-parter really. Can't say I don't like it though. The plot seems to pick up some speed now and I'm ready for it. The toys are all advertised, let's go crazy.
Also, it's kinda funny how they had all these keys on screen for seconds, that's probably the only time we'll see them. Although I did not expect Vulcan to use the hedgehog-one, so maybe some of them will be used as artillery fodder. Quote:

I think Yua has the coolest Henshin. The way she spins the key is badass in a way none of the others are.
...she's sort of scary in a 'possibly a psychopath' kind of way |
Please don't kill Yua. She is more interesting as a character than Fuwa.
She has two skills: as actual law enforcer and as analysts/technologists. She also has many connections: ZAIA, HIDEN, and AIMS. Her character is overall a cool female that is rarely seen in a Kamen Rider series too, and she is not defined by habits of hitting male characters.... |
Shoujirou Nakazawa was back as director for this episode (and probably the next one, given how this usually works), so for the first time in a while the action seriously impressed me again. Lots of really cool shots in there, and it even made some use of the location with parts like Zero-One jumping after Jin. I'm slightly disappointed this level of action isn't standard for Zero-One, but at least we have two directors on it who seem to be on the same page in terms of what style the show should have.
The plots have continued to be strong lately, and this was probably my favorite in a while, as well. Yua has been a pretty big question mark lately, so it's nice to finally get some details on what's been going on with her. The dynamic between her and Fuwa really brought out the best parts of both their characters. Also, for the record, Fuwa is probably my favorite character right now. Vulcan was always going to be up my alley because blue + a dog, but the character himself, I've become really endeared to. He's stubborn in this very honest, straightforward way, and we're seeing him constantly fight back injuries to be a Rider. The guy has a will of iron, and the fact that Yua has blatantly been using him as a lab rat this entire time (while still refusing to unlock his dang Keys) does a lot to make me appreciate his simplicity that much more. There's no ulterior motives to Fuwa. All he wants in life is to make sure people don't get slaughtered by killer robots, and he works very, very hard in pursuit of that. Also, also, it's getting genuinely disheartening seeing how much obsessing there is over who "will" die in these threads. I don't want to stomp on everyone's fun too much, but I don't know, I'd like to believe Yuuya Takahashi isn't a hack? Female Riders do not have the mortality rate you might think, especially factoring in how many of them are movie Riders, who tend to die anyway. Yua is fine. Heck, literally everyone in Ex-Aid turned out to be fine. Taiga didn't even die once, and he was waving typical "death flags" around like crazy that entire show. I think the only Rider death that actually stands a chance of working in a surprising way is if Jin does something to upset Horobi enough that he decides to just put him out of commission on a long-term basis. "Killing" one of the heroes wouldn't be very fresh, but booting out one of the sillier villains would be an effective way to signal a darker turn for the plot without relying too much on shock value. Not to mention Aruto still needs his birdie back. |
I know I said this before but I'll say it again: Going just off Ex-Aid (since I'm not familiar with anything else by this writer), I fully expect some Riders to die, but them staying dead is another matter entirely. We know HumaGears can be restored from backups, and there's groundwork that could, potentially, lead to a dead human getting "brought back" as a HumaGear or some kind of cyborg.
Anyway, about the episode itself, I thought it was interesting how they have technology to automatically edit out the HumaGear's ears in video. I wonder if that will ever be used again? If Zaia wants to destroy Hiden's reputation, or MJ.net wants to sow panic, I could see either of them doing some scheme involving doctored footage. Izu is the cutest robot since Wall-E. |
I am actually wondering if Zaia created Horobi and that he is un knowingly just acting exactly as how they intended him to do, cause severe damage to both people and areas for the sake of damaging Hiden.
