Most Over-Powered Monster/Villain in Tokusatsu!?
Last year, User Salaryman Zero started a "Ultraman Villains Popularity Contest" Thread.
http://www.tokunation.com/showthread...ght=Popularity A stipulation given was that the Dinosaur Tank was intentionally omitted as it was considered too powerful and make a popularity/power match too lopsided! I freely admit that I don't know near enough about Showa Era Ultraman at the moment, therefore I don't know exactly how powerful Dinosaur Tank truly is. But the whole thing makes one wonder which Tokusatsu Monster or Villain would constitute "Most Powerful"? Is there one over a thousand others? Is it more a collection of powerful monsters rather than a single monster? Such a question would naturally encompass all of Tokusatsu: Godzilla, Ultraman, Kamen Rider, Super Sentai, Metal Heroes, etc. Who do you think is the "Most Over-Powered Monster in Tokusatsu"? Would you agree that Dinosaur Tank is too powerful? Does it have competitors from a different franchise? Do you have a choice that most wouldn't think of? Sound off! |
Toei.

Evolt literally Unicron'd a planet for fun
|
I think Cronus and Odin are both way up there. Time manipulation is a hell of a power. Cronus could just stop time at any point and Odin can just reboot any timeline where things go badly for him.
|
Yeah, I could probably come up with some other contenders if I took some time to think about it, but Odin was like, purpose built in-universe to be over-powered. I don't think he ever lost a fight he wasn't supposed to?
|
I mean, Long has true immortality...
But I think the strongest has to be Gaim. Literally a god, cheatin bastard. Also, with all the talk of Odin and Chronos, it got me thinking. Since Singularity Points are unaffected by changes in time, would that mean Den-O would be a hard counter to them? |
I wonder how the Time Jackers' time manipulation powers would stack up to Cronus and Odin? The Roidmude's slowdown ability probably pales in comparison, since they could only freeze time but not rewind it or travel through it. And the Imagin could travel through time too, but I haven't seen Den-O so I don't know exactly what they could do. Huh, Kamen Rider sure does love giving villains time-based powers.
On the Sentai side, I figure Dogranio Yaboon could theoretically be the most overpowered villain, but it would depend entirely on what Lupin Collection pieces he had in his safe. Don Armage is probably also pretty high up there. |
I was thinking Dogranio, considering he basically made a mini nuke by combining various powers.
But I dunno, since that's not one of his natural abilities. He requires the Lupin Collection (And a massive number of them at that) to do such things. |

Also, Ohma Zi-O HAS to be up there as a strong contender. And because this is tokusatsu in general, I'd like to nominate Godzilla from the Gen Urobouchi anime trilogy. That thing defeated an entire platoon with a mere tail swipe. EDIT: Yes I realised too late that the anime Godzilla is technically not toku, but still! And while I'm at it, I'd like to add Evolt from Kamen Rider Build, not just for his overwhelming power but also for sheer manipualtive ability. |

Yeah, Gaim was really one of the great lieutenant baddies in all of tokusatsu. The concept of this guy who's been manipulated from a young age to believe he's the hero, acting according to the whims of the main villain to defeat what he perceives as a bigger threat, only to find out too late he's on the wrong path, and simply succumb to evil in the end, now that's he's in too deep, and sacrificed too many people, it's a great arc. Those were the kind of hard-hitting moral dilemmas you only got from a show as daring and clever as Gaim.
But then, we're talking about what villains are most powerful, and Kouta couldn't even beat fate. :p Man, I haven't dunked on Gaim that hard in a while. Uh, more seriously, I'm changing my pick to Oma Zi-O until further notice. I just remembered that logically, he already has the powers of any other tough Rider you can name, including Odin, Evol, and whoever else, and I'm not sure we ever actually saw the ceiling on his powers in the series. I get the impression he could basically wave his hand and make it so you never existed to begin with, and he only refuses to do that because it'd get rid of his entertainment. |

Huh, this doesn't help us find the strongest villain, but I just remembered there've been a couple who had abilities that were absurdly broken in the context of their own series but would be pretty much useless against any foe that wasn't drawing power from the same source. Like Eternal being able to shut down gaia memories, or Wiseman being able to drain mana from people.

In addition, Mesogog, Lothor, and Sledge, have no Sentai counterparts, which actually lends some credence for their a P.R. inclusion. |
There was Bandora and King Mondo's counterparts.

There are some characterization and background differences, but the actions are more or less the same if you keep it within the confines of Zyuranger VS. MMPR Season 1 & Ohranger VS. Zeo. |

Ah my poor Ultra-villains popularity thread, I ended up not continuing due to a lack of interest.
In terms of Ultra-lore, Alien Empera and Reiblood come to mind as the powerhouses among the villains. I would've said Vacuumon too since he's like a planet-consuming Galactus-typee, but Ultraman Jack whooped him with the Ultra Bracelet. |
