SIC Kamen Rider Faiz
 

After the teaser at last year’s Tamashii Nations event we now have an early look at concept art for the upcoming Superior Imaginative Colosseum Kamen Rider Faiz figure.

Made by the creative team behind the SIC Kamen Rider Fourze release, this take on Kamen Rider Faiz is meant to be more mechanical and scary looking than the original. The designers describe it as a "Yin" to Kamen Rider Fourze’ "Yang".

We also get a first glimpse at an all new design for an accessory, a briefcase that can split and transform into different weapons. It was originally intended as a storage area for the Faiz Gear, with the rest of it becoming a ray gun and a shield of sorts, but has since been redesigned to feature more elaborate designs, scrapping the storage idea in the process.

We're sure to hear more about this upcoming figure later this year.

That's actually really cool looking. Probably my favorite of the SIC designs next to Ghost.

I really, really like this. Faiz was always a much more 'practical' feeling Rider than most others, so this fits very very well.

In general I've liked the recent SIC designs a lot more for that. The original designs were mostly "make it more greebly and monstrous and organic", which did work for stuff like Kuuga and OOO; but it didn't really take into account each Rider's unique traits. But Ghost, Fourze, Ryuki and now Faiz have all been very very effective at realising that idea.

why make everything giant? I like it aside from that.

Personal assumption but they probably thought "There is no way you can pack a punch with some little digital camera circa 2003, and definitely no way you can deliver a deadly rider kick with some teensy flashlight" so they decided to redesign stuff overall to have a more "close-to-reality" look perhaps? While I think they could have scaled down a little bit more on the Faiz Pointer and Faiz Shot, I don't mind the robust look and feel of things overall.

Agreed. "Comically oversized" was the exact same term I had in mind as well.

Even in a world where grayscale furries are getting beat up by a weirdo bugman covered in blood it's highly unrealistic that he can do anything, let alone fight, with these things attached to his waist. But it's SIC so... I can accept it.

Personally, I really like the oversized gear. And the fact that the briefcase appears to be able to split into multiple weapons...

I wonder if they're gonna make a new SIC Auto Vajin.

A Premium Bandai release seems like a possibility. Some bikes just are inseparable from its rider and Auto Vajin seems like one. Plus they did release it long time ago as an SIC too so I think it is right for Bandai to release a revised one while at it.

Wow... the chest opens up; they incorporated Axel form into the base transformation. I really like that.

The blog post also announces painted prototype pictures and full info’s at the end of May, so I assume preorders will go live early June.

I'm curious if Faiz Phone is still a flip phone or updated into a smartphone.

Anyone else notice the weapons were probably inspired by the Faiz Blaster Final Form Ride?

Judging by the normal SIC aesthetics, it'd probably be an entire tablet.

As a big huge Decade fan who defends it and loves it to death... yeah, yeah I try to forget Final Form Ride was a thing too.

Can't believe your favourite part of every arc in Decade wasn't how he mangled other Rider's bodies into comically large tools! It might tickle, indeed...

Faiz was always my favorite Rider, but I'm always disappointed by the SIC versions of him. I guess it's because he doesn't have much of a theme beyond the tech stuff, so the SIC design looks like a slightly more buffed out and spiky version of the original design. This is unlike the Gaim figures where they really did an excellent job bringing out the warrior look to the forefront or emphasizing the animal aspect with the OOO ones.

*whistles* Man, if only the SIC line weren't out of scale with the rest of my collection. I'd definitely pick that up.

I mean, there hasn't been a Faiz Boombox on the show for me yet (as of Ep 18), so I can't really speak to that.

I can, however, worry about the effectiveness of Faiz's Rider Kick, based on the size and weight of his Faiz Pointer. That thing is way too massive to let him flip around in the air! His finisher is going to have all of the elevation of Orange Cassidy's Superkick:

Everything is so big. The pointer just looks comedic attached to his leg, but I actually love the look of the duster-turned-gauntlet. Everything else is decently cool too.

What is the scale of this figure? Is it the same as previous SICs?

I like the new weapons, they're interesting. Kinda funky how the blaster's clearly inspired by the Faiz Blaster and that he can achieve "Accel" without a color change. Make it seem like this version of Faiz is more "powerful" if he has access to those things at his base form.

I really like this!

The more mechanical look works wonderfully for Faiz, and I love the accessories. The briefcase opening and transforming into weapons is awesome.

I also quite enjoy that all of his power-ups are basically rolled into the base form here. That's really neat.

For context, the HBV staff in 2003 asked Rider fans to write in with ideas for a new Faiz gadget, with the winner to be featured in the video. The winning item was a boom box, which led to the only obvious plot you could get out of a boom box.

The pointer is beyond ridiculous but at least they give a smaller version as well.

EDIT: Oh wow I just noticed that the oversized weapons turn into the suitcase. This looks more like a fun toy than a display figure!

I like how the Faiz Pointer and Faiz Shot are now pretty much taking the role of the collectible items, i.e. gaia memories and whatnot, instead of the actual weapons. Looking at this now I kinda wish someone went back in time and slipped a note about this either in Inoue's notebook or one of the PLEX designers.:lolol
