DX SworDriver Review
|
Oh good lord. This season is gonna have a lotta dramatic slow mo reveals with jingles that last this fuckin long.
|
Amazing, they somehow managed to make the jingles even longer than Ex-Aid's. Hyper Muteki was already long enough, Saber's final form must be like a trilogy of hour-long jingles.

It's like the Woz speeches from Zi-O but for each individual WRB itself, that's gonna become both be incredibly epic and incredibly annoying very fast. Hopefully the director can mitigate it by having the suit actors actually fight while the narrations play out.
On a unrelated note, I'm kinda both surprised and confused by how the actual toys seem to work. So from what I can tell, the sounds appear to come from both the WRBs and the Sword rather than the Driver.
But how does the sword know what WRBs are being used? You can apparently put the WRBs in any slot or in any order, but the sword still plays the sounds in the correct sequence. At first I thought it was the WRBs playing transformation sounds, but I realized the Lion Chronicle used in this demo is the candy toy version with no electronics, yet the sword still plays the Lion Chronicle sounds. So is there maybe a chip in the WRBs that the sword can somehow read? |

I might be mistaken, but it looked like pressing the sword's trigger during the transformation announcement caused the announcement to be cut short with a slashing noise.
I just hope that in the show, the Riders won't just stand around and wait for the full announcement to finish every time, since that would get very annoying very quickly. Having the announcements playing while they fight, on the other hand? That I'd love to see! |

Oh fuck it's another super wordy sing-song one. Sounds like like Zi-O/Ghost. I wouldn't be so opposed to such long jingles, but it's such a generic driver voice and the phrase isn't particularly ear-pleasing.
|
I love an hate how overly long by default the jingles are. Am bias cuz i loved zero ones so much but a good jingle is suppose to be short an sweet outside of the final form ones. When ya have essentially a final form length jingle for the base forms plus collectables. Idk...weirds the ears out yo

Thinking about canceling my preorder for the driver. I don't play with them much, mainly leave them on display, and I don't feel like this is going to look particularly cool sitting on a shelf, especially with only a single book
|
I actually rather like what I've seen so far. While the design itself is basic, they put just enough decals on it to make it pop. I like the jingles, and the artwork on all of the books is fantastic. Whereas the Fourze Driver was just a hunk of blue plastic, this one atleast has the gold accents to make it look like something a bit more. In terms of aesthetics, I'm rather liking what I've seen of Saber so far. This Driver included!

I think it looks best with just one open book on the far left. Or maybe two closed books. I just have a standing order to never buy Kamen Rider sword toys because of how small they are. It's unfortunate the sword is now the belt. |
This must be the worst prop to handle in the show filming. I mean after ghost non electronic light sound gimmick flunk and non combo . They're sticking to these double and triple combinations, but i imagines the books keeps coming off. I mean the flaps are going to look so awkward in motions. 01 have the sleekest and best execution of gimmick plus good simple forms to go along with it. The second or seikin sword driver is a empty shell acts a a book shelf holder with three books gimmicks and a dinky sword again with different crests. It won't be as impressive as the show. It's like ryuken sword and deno sword form. If there's a gun driver in the future , then it'll work and looks a whole lit better.

Also I'm sure the hero prop version is much different with locked parts. But yeah, this is probably one of the most toy-like looking drivers ever, next to Ex-Aid which was intentionally so. |
