I guess deciding to rewatch the gaim soccer episode out of nowhere a few weeks ago was just me being a prophet.

The goddamn Gaim Soccer Movie. Of all things.

.... I am continually just slightly amazed at like the direction we're going with these picks.

If only because I can't make any sense out of it. And really the only sense I can make out of it is that it's trying to be advertising for the CSM stuff. But it still feels like, so random.

What's coming to mind for me is that this is a stream -- so naturally, a movie is going to be a better pick for it. And like the Zi-O movie, they'll announce afterwards that it's coming to the service in a month or two... but unlike the Zi-O movie, Gaim the series will be added too. It's the only thing that makes sense to me, especially with how long it's been since 71 and Kuuga were added.

Frankly I think anybody who sees that poster and doesn't know better is going to be disappointed that the entire movie isn't actually just a soccer tournament with Kamen Riders!

Honestly, this is what I'm hoping ends up being the case. Cause it would just feel like a really odd pick otherwise, stream or not.

I thought I had heard that they were going to add Gain, but for that it would be region-locked and more for the benefit of Japanese audiences. Did Team-Rider and SHOUT! see that and decide to use it as inspiration?

... Oh, shoot, it is! They're collaborating with them now; that's cool. Maybe we'll see Shin on Tokushoutsu too then?

Is there confirmation that SHOUT!/TokuSHOUTsu will be adding the Gain series? Shin's been on the Toei YT Channel and only there officially since that thing started.

I'm not familiar with the Pacific Time zone, so I double checked an obvious conflict: THIS LIVESTREAM COINCIDES WITH THE ULTRAMAN Z FINALE!!! How does one balance so many moving parts!?

That a really weird choice. My best guess it to promote CSM Gaim. But I feel like Heisei Vs Showa would've been a better choice considering Hongo actor actually returns in that one and they do have the original series up.

Agree they do seem tohave some random picks... I mean maybe we'll get an official sub for Gaim soon that wouldn't be too bad. But it would be nice if there was a bit more of a pattern behind this stuff. Then again patterns sorta ruin any chance of a surprise (unless we look at shout factories surprise release of Jetman)

Though I gotta say I'm not gonna complain about another bit of official rider media.

The Gaim soccer movie. I mean, I love that movie for it's raw audacity, but of all the possible films they could have picked...

The movie was not bad, but I would still perfer the actual TV series. I would love to watch Gaim again.

This could be a test. Release the gaim movie- see how many views it gets, then decide if they want to do with the west what they did with Gaim for Japan. Ep 1 available for like a long time with the rest of the episodes being available for a week at a time/in batches until it reaches the finale.

Why take the time to officialyl sub a series that might not get many views I'm sure toei knows well enough that both sentai and rider reception varies series to series so a movie would be an ok way to test the waters i guess. At the very least we cant rule out the possibility of the series itself coming a little later.

Gaim if anything seems like a very safe bet -- it's very popular in western rider fandom, it's had a lot of merch lately and that side of the fandom often seems to be what TKR targets. I'm surprised it took this long if I'm honest.

... hm. Well, I suppose, but... it's GOTTA be, right? This is so obviously gonna be an announcement? TokuSHOUTsu's been teasing it for a while too.

So all I can say is this is not part of Shout! Factory's dealings with Toei. So no, this is not a Shout! Factory release.

And considering that CSM for 2021 is pretty much all Kamen Rider Gaim, I would imagine that would play a part in to this selection. And maybe something else, too

I mean, they don't have a super big team or anything and did manage to the land the entirety of the Ultraman library for streaming. I get why they haven't done anything.

But this is Toei directly.

Hard to say. When Team Rider championed the livestream of Heisei Generations Forever, they streamed it via YT (I think I watched it on the Nerdist channel), and now that one can be streamed wherever SHOUT! streams their assorted material (www.shoutfactorytv.com and Tubi, etc.)! Given the fact that most are saying that this is between Team Rider and Toei and NOT SHOUT!, then this probably won't be on any SHOUT! medium or TokuSHOUTsu. If anything, it'll remain on the Toei channel. I can only assume if this is permanent or not.
