Power Rangers leaving Netflix 1/31/21
All shows but MMPR, Ninja Steel & Beast Morphers will be pulled from streaming.

Huh.
I don't know if that makes Dino Fury being exclusive to it make more sense or less sense. |
Wha-- why!?
Why would you (supposedly) make your latest show a Netflix exclusive, only to then take away 90% of the series? Do they have that little faith in Dino Fury that they're afraid it'll look bad in comparison to past seasons? Granted, it doesn't affect me personally since I own the whole series on DVD, but for everyone else? Trash move, Hasbro. |
Okay so if this was a rights issue thing, why couldn't they put in the effort to like, you know, make sure the others were kept?
It's really telling what Hasbro thinks of the series in general if they purposely chose to only renew stuff with those particular three shows. And if that is the case, I don't think I like that mentality. |
this is pretty nonsense on every account, i cant even find a corporate greed reason why this would be the case since they probably arent putting out new dvd releases. it's just going to make people pirate the series if they want to watch it, basically meaning hasbro will get LESS money from the overall franchise
especially baffling when the second half of beast morphers kind of relied on continuity a whole lot. what if they do something weird for dino fury that requires previous actors? i think the best we can hope is that this causes enough backlash that they decide to Not Do It, but that's probably not likely |
They are probably just moving it to another platform.
|
I think it’s very simply a case of “so we don’t have to pay more to keep up the seasons that aren’t the most recent or the one that’s hugely pop culture relevant “.

As little sense as this move makes, anything I could have said about it has probably already been said by someone else.
So instead, I'll mention the odd coincidence that the seasons being dropped are also the seasons I've watched. I didn't ignore Ninja Steel or Beast Morphers intentionally, I just never got around to watching them. Also, hello. First time posting, after years of watching. |

The sister site PwrRngr does ask the same thing I did: will they move to Tubi like other Hasbro shows have done?
It would make the most sense at this stage. You would have Sentai and the adaptation in the same place! It might also be cheaper on Tubi than somewhere else and Hasbro is starting to cost-cut more and more (the War For Cybertron cartoon cast is a swath of non-union actors, which has led to criticism in and of itself)). |
A lot of Power Rangers' marketing relies on its target audience generally not knowing Sentai exists. So, no.

Pecking Point 2: Could Hasbro be operating under the assumption that only older fans care about anything other than MMPR? Pecking Point 3: "It's the Toys That Made Us! The Toys That Made Us is here!" Yeah, no spoilers or "revealing" information here. Pecking Point 4: Marvel's "616" first episode and Japanese Spider-Man making connections to Sentai and Power Rangers. Again, no spoilers here either. |

That's disappointing to learn.

I will be surprise if the PR shows are going to be only on Netflix. You still have many people that still watch normal TV.
|
Netflix is hanging by Stranger Things' thread at this point lol.
|
Not everything that happens to Power Rangers is some big conspiracy by Toei/Hasbro to secretly ruin the reputation of Hasbro/Toei (delete as appropriate), regardless of everyone's speculation. There's every chance it's getting removed like a tonne of other shows get removed - money disputes, moving services, whatever reason The Office left despite that being apparently everyone on the internet's favourite show. And Power Rangers is not The Office.

I'm just wondering if Hasbro has, or is going to, make a statement stating as to why they're making this move. And if they have any plans on making these series/seasons available anywhere else.

The news is already circulating!
https://tokusatsunetwork.com/2021/01...ng-us-netflix/ http://ukiyaseed.weebly.com/ukiyasee...eaving-netflix In addition, VR Troopers and Big Bad Beetleborgs will also be taking a powder. There is one tiny little detail to this: Mighty Morphin' Seasons 1-3 (and that weird Disney remaster) are all bundled together, but "Alien Rangers" is separate though still technically considered Mighty Morphin' by many. Would Alien Rangers be excised with the rest or would it remain? |

ShadowRay22 of Morphin Legacy has released a fairly good op-ed regarding this outcome, with some valid questions and concerns.

I bet you another streaming service licensed the series. CBS All Access is relaunching as Paramount+ in a couple months, and they want as much exclusive content as possible. It would make sense that a Nickelodeon show would move to the service owned by Nick’s parent company.
Hasbro works with Paramount on Transformers and GI Joe as well. And as I understand it, the source article saying Dino Fury was going to be on Netflix was edited to remove that title. Dollars to donuts, the show will pop up on Paramount+. There’s no way the PR library is going to just lay fallow. |
Lemme guess, they're rebooting TTAFFBH.
|
Many people still like to revisit MMPR due to nostalgia. That's probably why Netflix is keeping it.
