Super7 to do Power Rangers ULTIMATES

How's this going to be different than Lightning Collection other than the scale?

Super7 tends to go with alot more of a retro look with their figures. Take a look at their He-Man stuff for a quick example.

Anyway, this is cool! I wanna see what their Goldar ends up like. If I like it, I might replace the LC one I have with it.

But the retro power rangers looked like the show, just with weird porportions. Not sure if that would be an easy sell.

Super7's Ultimates line take classic designs and slightly tweak them to fit a modern market. Stuff like their TMNT and Thundercats lines are good examples. Same classic designs, new articulation and streamlined proportions/details.

But isn't Lighting Collection already doing that? Maybe I can understand what they could do with monsters, but there isn't much you can do with rangers until they're not recognisable as the same ones.

Not quite the same. Lightning Collection is making modern, show accurate figures. Super7's Ultimates has more been going for classic toys, so think adding the dino logos to the chests and other differences like that.

Also boatloads of accessories. Seriously just so many with some. Which is also part of why they're so much more expensive I imagine.

Yeah, here's their recently revealed Optimus Prime for instance; just look at the crazy amount of stuff he comes with. That's the tradeoff!

But seriously, I can see it be a thing considering they included Sparkplug of all people as an accessory to that Optimus Prime figure Kurona shared with us. :lolol
And THE BULKWICH is a staple when it comes to those two.

Wow that could compare to Hasbro's lightning collection.

Their TMNT figures are awesome and the Transformers stuff they revealed today interests me (but I'm a weirdo that likes Action Masters). So I'm interested in seeing what the MMPR stuff looks like. More monsters hopefully.

Oh, the Lightning Collection monsters would probably scale properly to the ULTIMATES! figures at least.

Oh MAN this looks so good! Him coming with the Coin Box sealed the deal for me: Most definitely gonna buy this to replace my LC Goldar with.

Would have given them an A+ if they included the green candle but yeah, this looks good. :rock:

Super7 is launching the first wave of Power Rangers ULTIMATES this Tuesday, with all of them being made-to-order, so if you want any of 'em, you kinda HAVE to pre-order them. Also added to the wave is a T-Rex Zord.

For those who don't remember, Wave 1 consists of Goldar, a Putty, MMPR Green, and MMPR Yellow.

You don't have to pay up front with Super7 if that doesn't work for anyone, a couple places, BBTS, Dorkside, The Chosen Prime, Entertainment Earth etc. take orders and you pay when they're in stock. BBTS usually orders extras also.

I'm probably in this line for the monsters and Zords. The Rangers look cool they gave both heads for the Yellow Ranger too. But I'm thinking to get the ThreeZero ones so will save for that.

Man, they really went all out when it came to the accessories for these! Like, who the heck expected the Sword of Power and the Mega Heater?

Mezco is definitely gonna have competition in this regard.

These figures all look great! The Putty is ridiculous in the best way.

But ooooo, with shipping it's close to $500 for them. That's a lot! It's why I don't have all of the TMNT figures they're doing...

Not much interest in the character figures since we've got Lightning Collection but if we get more figures like the Tyrannosaurus I'll pick them up.

I gotta be honest, aside from the scale these look so much better than LCs it's not even a contest. It's a more accurate sculpt and proportions; the details are on point; the accessories are of course insane and have more than one pair of hands... it's naturally pricier and a bit taller than 6' but if I was a really big fan of MMPR Yellow or Dragonranger or something I wouldn't even consider the LC at that point

Yeah this basically sums it up. Pretty much the only thing LC has over ULTIMATES is scale(unless you're a 7-inch collector then win-win), which doesn't even really matter for monsters like Goldar, and articulation, as Super7's' figures usually can't do the super fancy poses that modern Hasbro figures usually can.

Again, it'll be interesting to see how Mezco measures up to all of these recent PR figures we've been getting.

I think these all turned out really cool. Especially excited to see the toy inspired accessories and hear in interviews that the figures themselves were more inspired by the old toys, exactly like I predicted.

Unfortunately I don't really want a whole new scale of Rangers though...

The T-Rex Zord looks phenomenal and is really tempting.

But so far only ordering Goldar, hoping he'll fit in with Hasbro's increased monster scale than their own Goldar (watch them backtrack that unpopular decision now though haha).

Wait, is that the case? I thought these guys looked pretty well articulated, and I've been kinda let down by LC's articulation

It's not to say Super7's' articulation is out and out bad; they just tend not to be able to pull off the super exaggerated poses that stuff like modern Marvel Legends do.

I assume Yellows waist rotates but she has no ab crunch. No one has an upper thigh swivel or double jointed arms/legs. It's basically Neca articulation.

Now sure what's wrong with the LC articulation sans the lack of dumb bell necks and the shenanigan's with the female arms/legs. They have the widest ranger of all the Hasbro figures.

Rita has been confirmed for Wave 2. No word on who the other three figures are yet.

That's unfortunate, but not surprising.

Opened Ultimates Goldar... and the damn left forearm broke on me within a minute or two! I mean it just snapped like it was structurally weaker than peanut brittle, and "brittle" is pretty apt.

Starting to question the nature of figure buying in this moment cause these things cost too much for this to happen (and I've had a similarly bad experience previously with LC Astronema)!

I dig the glow in the dark Green Ranger. Shame the green candle is only available if you order them all, though.
