This is the 13th Doctor's last turn.

I see threads like this everywhere, and even though I haven't really watched modern Doctor Who, I always find them difficult to take seriously without a source. No offence to you, wentwood, of course, it's just that it's all a bit vague. Without further details, just saying that the lineup for a show that is built on changing its lineup will change is like trying to report the fact that Saber will end this year to be replaced by a new Kamen Rider show as news.

It was mentioned/rumored last/earlier this year that this upcoming season would be Jodie's final season before moving on.

If it’s true then that’s a shame, she’s going before her potential can truly be realised — unlike previous doctors I don’t feel we ever got a truly satisfying storyline with her. At least there’s Resolution

Doesn't mean anything until it's confirmed. The Doctor's actor is always rumored to be leaving. Capaldi was reportedly leaving before his first episode even aired. I'll believe that Whittaker is leaving when the BBC officially announces that she is.

Remember when reddit and twitter was alight with rumours that Chibnall had been ousted behind the scenes in massive drama and someone was scrambling to finish Series 12 and it was all abig cover up? Which turned out to be complete rubbish spread by people who just want to see the show fail?

No offence, but some randommer on YouTube claiming that Whittaker's agent is telling her to leave one of the biggest science-fiction shows in the world because of a few toxic fans probably isn't the most reliable source, and I feel bad giving the article clicks to have to read that. Could she leave post Series 13? Maybe? No post-80's Doctor's stayed on for more than 3 full series... but both Tennant and Smith stayed on for a series of specials following that, and considering Series 13 is going to be shortened because of COVID filming, mayb we'll get those, or a Series 14? We won't know until it happens.

I didn't exactly read the article I posted either all that much. Just enough to confirm what I read elsewhere and a general date.

And checking the source shows that it's one of those "SJWs are ruining muh genre fiction!" assholes, so we're probably looking more at wishful thinking than anything.

I'm listening to Doctor Who The Lost TV Episodes before I see the last series from 13. Also watching classic stories from 1963's run.

Oh, I just assumed she wanted to leave because sadly no-one seems to want to beat Tom Baker's record lol.

My main issues before she started were that it was done in a way that I found kind of bad for men and women (I just have a particular intolerance for double standards and traditional gender roles), it's not like the BBC are all that left-wing anyway IMO and above all I felt like a black or Asian doctor was the more pressing issue (could have still been a woman!), but I still watched the show much the same as I did most modern Doctors anyway even though I prefer the format of either 70s/80s Doctor Who or that kind of thing like Sarah Jane Adventures/Wizards vs Aliens. James Bond being a woman, funnily enough, as much as lots of people I know seem not keen on the idea, I genuinely would not care that much and him as a person aside, I was never keen on Daniel Craig because I never got over how we suddenly had him when I thought Pierce Brosnan could have carried on. :lolol

If the next doctor is black or Asian a real life friend suggested Richard Ayoade and I thought ''Actually that could work!''

I honestly just felt like most of the episodes with Whitaker were just trying to make me feel guilty, buuuut anyways...

I am pretty glad the old crew is returning. The show, from what I hear, has been going down the drain profits-wise. Maybe some return to what it once was would help save it. Or keep it going, for those who don't think it needs saving.

Well hopefully episode wise Doctor Who will still be a strong show to watch. This new 6 part format will be interesting. I wonder if series 40 (New Era 14) forward will do this or if this is a one off attempt.

The 1st 26 series used to do 6 part episodes once in a while but most have gone 4.
