Kikai Sentai Zenkaiger Episode 8- "Door To Door From Another World!" Discussion
The Zenkaigers are scattered across dimensions following their battle with StaCeaser.
Watch SuperHeroTime Via Livestream!! Check out episodes as they air on Saturday by heading over to Taima TV. They play other miscellaneous programs up until the live broadcast starts. Live Streams of the Superhero Time block now start at 8PM EST on Saturdays! |
When Zenkaiser said he wanted to be the first hero to beat the fake sentai teams on his own, all I could think of was the Gosei-Gokai movie where they literally did exactly that :lol
|
I like Gokai Gold.. eh i mean TwoKaizer.
look like we got another six ranger with younger sister. |
I really wonder if Toei remade a lot of those robot suits. A lot of them looked really clean and in some places more basic than their originally suits.
Perhaps we will see them again in the future. |

Definitely more of a courtesy than they'll give to Gills and Blade anyway :cry |
So Stacey is gonna be our Basco for this anniversary season.
Do you think his next plan is to make an Evil Zenkaigers team by having 4 walds use Tojitendo gears from imprisoned Sentai worlds. |

I hope Stacey will be more of a recurring presence than Zamigo was, but I'm already pre-emptively ready for the show to not delve into anything about him until like episodes 30+ or something.
Genuinely enjoyed Goldtweaker's dance routine introduction though! I'm sure there are some people who are dreading his kind of energy to be a new mainstay, but as of right now, I'm kinda really into it? Still wished the shape of his visor was any different!! |

Alright, time for my two cents.
Kaito saying Juru’s catchphrase is ironic since that phrase was always used when Juru had an idea and Kaito used the gear because Secchan told him to. Looks like Kaito and Stacey aren’t so similar after all. Not sure what it’s saying that the two Yokote season mecha got one-shotted by the new guy. Speaking of said new guy, he’s more “Pirates of Penzance” than “Pirates of the Caribbean” like the Gokaigers. And I already love him more than I loved the cast of that show (Ahim and Gai notwithstanding). Based on Mike Sugiyama’s Twitter discussing Zox’s intro song, Junko Komura has now left the ever-decreasing membership of the “Sentai show runners who haven’t written song lyrics” (the new membership roster is Junki Takegami, Nobuhiro Mouri and Junpei Yameshioka). |
Can I just say, this is the first time in a long time I'm absolutely loving a Sentai season. Like I'm actually looking forward to the next episode.

Twokaiser. Twokaiser. ...eh, not anywhere near as good as Stacaesar. I do think I liked this episode more than the last one, though! It's a pretty bold move, to have Twokaiser's debut just abruptly stopping the plot in the last few minutes, completely changing gears, so to speak. I think it ends up working pretty well for a few simple reasons. One, if Zox is a flashy pirate, disregarding proper etiquette on an almost meta level to steal the spotlight is a rather appropriate introduction. Two, the episode was inevitably going to end with some kind of stalemate or interruption to put things back to status quo anyway, so having that interruption happen to be yet another new (anti-?)hero dropping in isn't that much of a difference, when I stop to think about it. Three, doing things in the most insane, non-traditional, and over the top way possible is pretty baked into Zenkaiger's mission statement as a show, so this could've been completely unjustifiable and yet still have been justified by that fact alone. And also, this Twokaiser guy does seem like fun? Not anywhere near as fun as Stacey is, as backwards as that might sound, but still, I can see myself enjoying having some crazy dancing pirate around in the future. This is more a teaser than a proper debut, as well, so it's not exactly a fair comparison at the moment. Anyway, since all that is more of a tease than anything, there's a whole episode prior to those last minutes that I really loved. Compared to the first half, it essentially takes character development off the to-do list almost entirely, in favor of going all in on raw wacky escapades, and I think that ends up paying off. There's still a bit of fleshing out for Stacey through his interactions with Kaito, mostly furthering what was already established prior, and the substance is appreciated (the villains in this show are surprisingly promising so far), but it's not the crux of what made this one fun. Escalating montages of everyone bouncing around a ton of locations and yet more copious amounts of fanservice did that. It's honestly a very simple plot when you try to describe it, so I'm not even sure how much more detail I can go into. Everyone getting flustered at every turn was cute (Zyuran's reactions were consistently the funniest), and the whole dilemma was given a delightfully straightforward solution in the end. It's good stuff. It's actually kinda interesting to note how heavily these episode featured the Kikainoid team members growing giant without immediately transforming and/or combining, because that was sort of made out to be a selling point of the series, emphasizing how fresh and weird it was, and yet this is the first instance of this gimmick being used in a significant capacity. So yeah, not an episode I feel like I can dig into all that much, but it was extremely enjoyable all the same. Hopefully things get this cool any time Stacey shows up from here on. |

I'm just so unsettled by the confirmation that Stacy is Barashitara's biological son with a human mother, and that general tank-face has had hundreds of wives. What!?
But I liked pretty much everything else about this episode. I found the last one disappointing for reasons I can't fully explain (although my utter lack of nostalgia for past sentai seasons might have something to do with it), but this completely blew me out of the water and I'm even more excited for TwoKaiser's "proper" debut next time. |
Barashitara certainly gets around :lol

I really have to say, aside from everything else going on here - and there is A LOT going on here; look at Fish's post if you want my general thoughts aside from that I love Twokaiser more than anything in the world right now - one thing I'm pretty impressed by? The villains.
Like, when we first saw the Tojitendo going into this I figured they would be pretty nothing villains. Not necessarily to the discredit or lack of faith in the show; it's a big anniversary season with a lot going on, so I was ready to accept a more generic whatever cast of villains and I am that way with a lot of Sentai in general. Heck, I've loved everything after Kyuranger and it would be difficult to make a case for recent Sentai villains that isn't "Wyzul and Kreon are likable and fun" or making a lot of excuses for Garza. And the first episode almost cemented that for me - Barashita was pretty generic, and the Tojitendo was set up in such a way that their being stock villains wouldn't matter as the whole "oppressive upper class" thing is good enough. But as things stand? Barashita has gone above and beyond anything I expected for him by having a strained father-son dynamic with Stacey (because that guy seriously makes everything better), you've got Ijirude having stuff to do with the Sentai Gears and Kaito's parents in a way that feels downright Kamen Rider, and while the bosses don't have anything that interesting it does seem like they're setting up a thing of "the leader's assistant is the one actually pulling the strings", which is STILL something more than I expected. Just... I dunno man, this show is going all out to impress me in every area even when I would have been completely fine if it wasn't fleshed out in the slightest. This show is seriously shaping up to be my favourite Toku since Build, which is saying a lot given we just got Kiramager and Ultraman Z. Incredible, amazing, full-throttle non-stop show right here |
I gotta say, I am a pretty big fan of Barashitara's design. Just a really cool tank motif going on. Him being a father and having hundreds of wives is a little... weird, but I guess if that's what it takes to give us Stacey, that's alright with me.

I'm calling it now: Barashitara's 893rd wife and Stacey's mother is Goshikida Mitsuko!
|
The number 893 is of interest. Why that specific number? And then I remembered that in goroawase the number is read as ya(8)-ku(9)-za(3). Could be random but these things do tend to connect in the end so gonna look out for that. Maybe his mother was a badass from Yakuza World or something.
|
If this had aired before Pokémon's DLC had happened I could have joked it was also the same as the number of Pokémon in existence :lol

So ten years have passed and Marvelous and Ahim apparently got bizay. Good for them. I was wondering how they were gonna work the pirate wheel of the Geartlinger into the device.
Being a severe GoKaiger fan, I have zero problems with the suit. Stacee's mom and a machine is that "this joke is written for kids, but we know you grown ups are watching too, teehee" kind of moment. I mean, literally there's like three instant jokes that come to mind, but for now we'll say his mom has got it going on apparently. |
Just finished watching the episode, and the Pirate fanboy in me is happy. I love TwoKaiser's pirate wheel gun, and his airship, I'm definitely excited to see his Mechs in action! I can't help but see an evil Aruto or Kairi/LupinRed when I see him.
Seems Barashitara had lots of wives (I probably won't question any of that) and Stacey's mom got abandoned somewhere, and since he seems to have a grudge against him, I'm getting Final Fantasy X flashbacks. I also hear Stacey's mom has it going for her:lolol (Neat detail people are pointing out her about her number, so props to them) Love seeing the Kikainoids misadventures across the world, especially Gaon wanting to be a fountain, and Magine being excited about getting the bouquet, and of course, Kaito's grandma going to a theater with a Toei film showing. (Let's hope that one Dopant isn't screening it's film there) Next week: the Pirate shows his stuff, and his little friends. |
