why are they hiding older videos on the toei tokusatsu world
like most of gavan and winspector are just gone. wasnt this supposed to be like a free service and archive. i feel like i might be the first person to even notice this since i can't find anyone talking about it online
|
TOEI, unlike Tsubaraya, ARE JUST INCREDIBLY DUMB TOWARDS ANY *POTENTIAL * Western and worldwide audiences, as a fan, it really is heartbreaking, but hey ULTRAMAN GIVES A DAMN
|
It seems to be a rights issues with various companies

most of the shows on there that will eventually be made unavailable dont even have Alternative Methods to get them here. i assume that in japan everything is available at all times

This is why it's kind of a big deal when shows get re-aired. |

For real? Talk about incompetence this kinda is infuriating now that I think about it. Stuff like this really makes me think that either they really don't care, they are incompetent, or the way they set up their business is just overtly complicated.
|
It's almost as if Toei truly has no clue that these shows among others have an actual fanbase outside of Japan.
|
Maybe they’ve licensed the shows and had to take them down? Am I being deliriously optimistic??? :lol
I’m not sure where I heard it (probably somewhere on social media), but I think TTW is in part a sales tool for distributing screeners to potential international licensees. Gavan and Winspector are two of the most obvious contenders for potential US licensing. It’s not completely out of the realm of possibility that someone like Discotek licensed the rights and Toei blocked the series in North America in advance of a public announcement. |

Welp one thing for sure the team who handles Toei World is either bad or they are trying but the powers that be don't know what to do and they are taking the blame because of that. I hope it is the latter.
|
This don't seem to be any different from GundamInfo uploading Gundam shows for a limited time.
|
I'm sorry, I don't mean to offend anyone but I will at least take Toei Tokusatsu World over Shout Factory (as obscure as the shows they upload may be), mainly because I think it's quite safe to say by now that Shout Factory are not interested in bringing Sentai to other continents whereas what Toei upload they at least try to make it available!
|
I mean to be fair with the whole Sentai thing, I feel like that's a bigger can of worms?
Given well, I'm sure the issues stemmed from Hasbro taking over the reigns on Power Rangers. It's not exactly cut and dry I believe. |
Yeah I get it's not cut and dry but there are even things for example like, does Hasbro really need to own the rights to Metalder when it's not even them that made VR Troopers?!
|
I do have to wonder if PR adapting the Jiraiya and Gavan episodes also complicated anything...

If we'd seen figure releases, that would be one thing, but we didn't. This isn't a situation like Black RX, Metalder, and B-Fighter where full series, and full toy lines, were released, so I wouldn't be super concerned. Toei may not have a clue what they're doing in the American market, but they know the value of their IPs, and they're not boneheaded enough to sign away the rights to Gavan, especially, for a two episode stint on Beast Morphers. Source: I work in film/tv licensing and distribution. |

EDIT: Wait a second, I see most of Winspector and Gavan are still on TTW. There goes my hope of an impending US release. :lol |
Definitely would be nice if Gavan ever makes its official DVD release in the US especially since I found myself interested in checking this series out ever since I watched the Gokaiger and Gavan crossover movie a few months ago.
|
Well all we can do is wait on Shout Factory to bring over the 1st 13 Ranger shows to US DVD and also Magi forward.

I think it would be good if Shout Factory brought over Magi and Bouken over 2023 and 2024. Any chance of that happening?
For Ultra and Rider shows Shout Factory is streaming them so at least US viewers can still see them. As for the Ranger shows E One could be saving them for home disk release through Shout in North America. That might be why they're locked on You Tube. |

Speaking of TTWO, they finally started subbing Gavan fully. |
Sorry if I bumped this thread, but I did started to notice this when I found some video on their YT Channel that I previously had accessed to started to go MIA for no reason (yes, I am a US citizens and resident). Also, I like to add one more thing into this:
