Retro Style Megazord Action Figures
featuring Dino Megazord, Thunder Megazord, Galaxy Megazord and... Ninjakon.

If these figures really have as much articulation that I think they have then I might as well just get the normal toys. Bricks they may be, at least they combine! I should probably reserve my judgment until after the toys come out though.
|
Damn they've been doing everything but LC for Ninjaman lately
|
They have an MSRP of 15.99 and come in some weird VHS box.
I like that they are modeled after the actual in-show suits. Might be fun to paint depending on the plastic quality. |
These look like they're meant more for kids than collectors, but the marketing doesn't seem to agree.
|
I don't care about the lack of paint...I WANT...I WANT...I WANT!!!
Ninjakon was a toyline exclusive re-release of Ninjor during the heyday of Ninja Storm that allowed Bandai to not only pad the line, but give a marketable excuse to release auxiliary Power Spheres. Looking at the figure, I think it's just a re-deco of Retro Morphin' Ninjor! |
As Super Sentai fan and Power Rangers fan, I think this is really AWESOME NEWS!!! :D
I think the Megazord action figures is really cool when they are standing with Zenkaiger action figures especially because one of Zenkaiger main theme is about Sentai Robots :D |
wow i can get the dino megazord and thundermegazord.

Different link with more images.
https://toy-wizards.com/2021/10/07/p...re-orders/?amp It's now blatantly obvious that Ninjakon is just a re-deco of Retro Morphin' Ninjor, but since the OG Ninjakon was just a toy by Bandai, then it implies that Hasbro can make Bandai-Only references so long as they have a P. R. Connection! The implications are vast, to the point of making new figures of the RPM "Paleomax" Rangers from the Bandai line in the future should Hasbro commit! Big "IF"! |
Packaging may say otherwise but I DEFINITELY these are aimed towards kids.
Call me when we get the LC Megazord and Dragonzord |

The benefit of these figures is how they'll pair with standard action figures. In the days of Old Bandai, they would release 5 inch Megazord figures which paired well with Villains and Monsters. While these will be taller, they'll still compliment older Megazord and Monster figures and look especially good next to the current age of standard Hasbro figures. Vargoyle VS. MMPR Thunder Megazord? Evox VS. Galaxy Megazord? Sold! |
I definitely think there'd be some merit to an LC Megazord line in the same vein as their Monsters line. Something like 8- or 9-inch articulated figures as a great setpiece to go with the Rangers. If you mostly just made the main ones and sixth ranger ones you could easily cover a lot of lines in a short amount of time; or even if they did the same "2 every half a year" thing as the Monsters line it would still feel satisfying
|
It' s hard to see how these are aimed at kids when they are the mechs from the series that today's adults grew up watching.
Do you also think Funk Pops are for kids? This is for sure for adults. |
For the love of...
Hasbro, why don't you just do full on Lightning Collection Megazord figures? Yes, combiners are cool, but you know how much people would love to have fully articulated 6"/7" Megazord figures? |

I thought we already had Lightning Collection Megazords? They are the 12-inch ones that came out recently no? https://hasbropulse.com/products/pow...-action-figure |
I wonder if it didn't do well? It came out over a year ago and we've heard nothing of anything like it since; not even an obligatory MMPR one

It's main downfalls were with distribution and the high pricetag. If it was to appear in stores, that didn't happen. I have only ever seen it in one shop, and that was a privately owned toy shop! Second, it's expensive for a Megazord that doesn't separate. It may look good and move good and pose well and I would like to get one, but I can see why they might not move forward with it. I think Hasbro is still trying to find solid ground with Megazords! They haven't been doing so hot and now they're experimenting all over again to see what sticks. |
Ninjakon. Neat.
The packaging for these is cool but I wish the toys were a little better. They really need some more paint on them. |
I find first review video about Retro Dino Megazord

The packaging is nice in that it uses minimal plastic. Good on Hasbro.

Found all four of them at the Walmart in Pineville, Louisiana. Only got the Thunder Megazord cause a little Thunder Megazord/Dairenoh is decidedly rare regardless of who does what and when.
I took some photos, though they aren't the best, but I still tried to give some sense of scale by using a variety of different figures. Used the Dino Charge/Supercharge figures for the Dino Charge Megazord & Snide, the Dino Fury Doomsnake, Showa-Era Godzilla VS. "Final Wars" Gigan, and a large green dragon that nobody on this site could possibly recognize ;)! The figure is pretty much a friggin brick, but a good looking brick. The paint apps are minimal at best, and the face appears flat. The fists turn, arms move up and down, thighs can twist, and that's about it. The sheath can detach and hold the saber. It's a debatable effort, but I personally judge it to be a passable one. |

I wonder how they scale with Minipla. Probably just a little too big?
They look like they were designed to scale with Lightning Collection monsters. |

Got the Galaxy Megazord last night.
I think I like it more than the Thunder Megazord. The overall appearance is solid, the colors are sharp, the arms and head have (slightly) better range of movement. It gives the impression that it's based on the Gingaioh show suit from the '90s! The only real drawback is that the included and detachable Condor Missile Mode can't be held in the fists. I took some photos again and paired it with the old Captain Mutiny figure (which was originally released under the decidedly generic name of "Space Buccaneer"). I'm thinking Galaxy is about 6 inches and Mutiny is roughly 5.5 inches. I think they looked good together. Also tried to use better backdrops. |
I would really like to see the the Red Dragon Thunderzord and White Tigerzord done in this style. The Thunderzord was a better design than the toys at the time permitted.

I know these aren't the most popular things around, but they're cute and fun. They're a reminder of a time when figures were simple and limited and just barely screen-accurate.
I've looked for the Second Wave and only recently found them...at Ollie's for a substantial discount! |
Can't beat those for the price
