I don't normally watch these, but I had some free time and the whole CGI + Inoue deal made me curious enough to watch. It looks decently fun, even if the CGI looks terrible and I still don't trust Inoue to not make a mess of things. Still, not like I was planning on watching this live anyways, just thought I'd chime in.


My understanding of Japanese is pretty rudimentary, but did I catch that the team is a family in this one, similarly to GoGoFive?

Maybe it's because I just finished Ultraman Trigger but the villains remind me of the Dark Giants right down to the color schemes (although the bruiser is more orange than red). Also of the Orphnoch trio - because Inoue.

Also, that new Zenkaiger...wow.

It's a very standard, tried-and-true set up for a villain group in children's shows.

That said, I hope one of them gets an intense rivalry, not with Red but with the cartoon dog.

Wow yeah that CGI is pretty rough. And the civilian outfits looks super generic.

But the DonMomotaro suit looks excellent. And that mecha looks really cool, though I'm not sold on the ToQger combination yet.

I think the other DonBrothers member also can be transformed into robots as well.

Maybe 5 Alter Modes can be combined into a single primary giant robot formation, just like Muteki Shogun from Kakuranger.

Yes. Change Heroes ToQger Alter is the first Alter Mode.

If the rumour are become true, the next Alter Mode is based on Zyuohger.

Seems like OniSister is more of the main character (or at leas the main POV character) than DonMomotaro.

Also...going CG for some of the team members is going to look rough.

I do like what I'm seeing but the CG Rangers - just no. Putting shitty CG in Tokusatsu defeats the entire purpose of it all for me. I can tolerate it somewhat with the mecha, but the Rangers themselves? Seeing that black Sonic OC in the trailer attempting close combat with the bad guys looked awful.

Looks like this Kaito took the staff job. Double the money.

If this Kaito is different from Kaito from the Zenkaiger universe, then the Juran that combines with Enya Ride-on is a different Juran?

Didn't expect Black and Pink to be human...... Although now that they are I do question why the need to CGI their Ranger forms other than gimmicks. They probably would've looked fine with standard human suits.

Maybe the CGI is rough because they need to balance the budget so that Black and Pink can appear all the time? I was expecting this to be a Kyuranger-ish situation where we only really got the 3 suits operating with Black and Pink would come in occassionally.

That's a huge insight...... That's like, an intern's salary. Holy shit, I think Saban saw this strategy and that's why he paid Power Rangers casts so low. Although to be fair 50k yen is pretty sizeable for Japanese especially students I guess.

Although suit actors makes more sense because they are in the action a lot more.

Shinken red was malnutrition?s and most are young can rely on fam. Also, toku nowadays is a way to break out to be in bigger shoes movies. Most are self aware and can turn down. They?re not even saving on human actors, but suit actors.

It's five humans after all, except still typical Sentai protagonist age contrary to the rumor. It's too early to pick favorites, but Shinichi is smart, cool and strong? That's a versatile combination of traits!

Zenkaizer Black looks less conventionally heroic than Zenkaizer Classic, but I love the monochrome look!

The OP chorus is already stuck in my head. Catchy song!

Where's the ED though? Second consecutive year now. Toei are slacking!

I dislike ToQ Alter.... But I and probably anybody familiar with my preferences figured I was going to dislike it, so I'm not going to get bitter about it.

Actually, I'm still not sold on the designs this year. Even Don Momotarou Alter has those green feet which I think clash with the red too much.

The CGI, yeah, it could be a lot better. But it's an experiment and who knows, they might improve in quality. I'm staying optimistic here.

But pretty much everything else is appealing to me with the story premise and the unique characters, even getting human villains this year, the novelty of a short dog man and big bird man. It has Inoue's crazy style all over it and I'm totally excited for this fresh new show!

Yeah, I had wondered if this Kaito would be native to Donbrothers' world. Considering how calmly he says his catchphrase here, it definitely makes a lot of sense. Maybe Juran Tyranno will be a summon?

Regardless, it's disheartening. And does put into perspective that many of the actors do this out of love for the franchise. Do gotta wonder if the blame is solely on the agencies or also on Toei. And if this also accounts for other things like sponsorships, commercials, etc. (like Oronamin C for one)

Well... This looks wild! And that theme song sounds like one heck of a party theme.

I'll get some negatives out of the way here first, the CG. It speaks for itself, mostly for InuBrother, from seeing him in action, that's probably easily the weakest point for me here. KijiBrother fairs a bit better, and am I seeing right that one of his close-up shots was a normal suit? The fact that they have human forms is a relief and a bit odd, considering they could have used regular suits but made them stand out a bit more compared to the others.

Also, this Kaito does seem completely different from ZenKaito, since he says "Zenryoku Zenkai? What's that?" as if he doesn't have any idea what his parents taught him or the bonds he's made with the Kikainoids, which honestly makes me feel a bit better that this is not the real Kaito and actually works really well with the Momochrome suit he dons.

But on the other hand, this series has an interesting approach for the cast, in how Yellow, the heroine, is apparently our starting member instead of Red, which feels a bit like a reverse Kiramager to me, and I honestly love this approach, and DonMomotaro with a fan in the role call.

The Villains look like something from the 80's which I think is a neat idea, considering Sentai almost always feels like it's still the Showa Era. Also, human forms, so I guess they are taking off Rider for this one.

The Alters, for DonMomotaro, I honestly love strangely enough, even if the green feet feel out of place. Then there's the ToQger Alter, and while goofy and interesting for a "mech," doesn't look that good.

Overall, I'll see how the CG fairs for a bit before deciding if I'll keep up with this season, but as I said at the start, it looks absolutely wild.

I just don't think the CGI models are working for Pink and Black.

Pink - they have the close ups which is helping but is the gimmick really needed for a whole series? It could have just been a special power.

Black - That is not working at all. Again as a special power it could work. For a whole series, just make it an actual person.

CGI and Japan have had a tricky history. They are willing to be more creative with it at times but the physics and lighting they haven't really cracked. Or at least Toei and the bigger studios.

I didn't think the CGI would look great, but I'd no idea it would look that terrible. The only thing I can hope is that the clip featured temporary effects work. The super-deformed black and pink make even less sense now.

RangerWiki just changed Zenkaizer's font to red again, presumably to distinguish him from Zenkaizer Black. It's chaos over there! :lol

Hoo boy, this reminds me of that uproar during Kamen Rider Revice's production last November after an employee accused Toei of employee mistreatment among other issues. Social media went wild. Don't remember what came out of that though.

After looking at it some more, I wish the lead was pink like an actual Peach. Or at least his mecha. That thing would look amazing in pink with the green feet.

Pink with green feet definitely worked for EX-Aid. But I guess they wanted to go with a strong red to emphasize the Japanese folklore, since they already had a non-standard color for the leader last year.

Is this the first official male pink?
