an early ToQger tie in hints that this series is going off the rails.

Okay so I saw this and immediately got power rangers toy vibes. Those side toys that never showed up in the show and were made just to fill out the toy-line, like extra battlizers or the motorcycles combining with the mech. And I kind of like the peach mech on its own (it kind of reminds me of Gaim sort of), but the combined form is? weird. Still not sure about this show.

So it turns out that in addition to the Zanglass Sword changing colours if you scan it with different personal Avataro Gears, if scanned with a Legend Avataro Gear, it does their “sword finish” announcement.

Ryusoulger Alter was already confirmed by toy listings. So far it looks like the alters are from the series in the DX Gear sets 01 and 02. So we should see LuPat, Kiramager, Kyuranger, and Ninninger. Kinda skewing towards the more recent stuff eh?

It?s not true. We?ve already seen the first one in action and the second one is on its way in May.

Yeah it seems like this season would be a good time for a general metal heroes tribute, even if brief. Gotta keep the dream alive!

With the Akibarangers getting a P-Bandai Ranger Key and Sentai Gear set, is there any information already about whether or not the Gears will work with the Donblaster? It's been mentioned that the Donblaster has been hacked already - perhaps there's a list somewhere of what all the compatible Gears are?

More DX Don Onitaijin photos and Change Hero Series Don Robotaro.

That DX Don Onitaijin looks really good but I haven't bought any DX mecha since ToQOh. It's tempting but I'm wondering if I should just wait for the minipla since I got no space for the DX one. haha.

Perhaps the best part of this mecha is the detachable six pack abs.

It's a great article. They talk about how this toy has so much more articulation than the traditional sentai robots because the designer's son was disappointed the DX Zenkai Juragaon toy couldn't pose like he does on the tv show. So hey, a little CGI did some good.

Also interesting to note that Inu Brother's Robot form is inspired by a Tron Light Cycle!

I suspect Don OniTaijin may be the first DonBrothers figure to be worth picking up.

So far, I bought the Change Hero figures, including the Change Hero Don Momotaro Alter and ToQger Alter set, the DX EnyaRideon.

The regular Change Hero figures are tiny! If I didn't know they were Change Hero, I'd have assumed they came from whatever they're calling this year's version of Sentai YUDO. That's about their quality level, although there's no stickering. Don Momotaro is roughly the right size to ride the bike. InuBrother has a little more articulation than you'd expect. KijiBrother is exactly as awkward you'd expect given his proportions.

The Don Momotaro Alter and the ToQger Alter set... okay, here's my objection: the super-compatibility with Change Hero figures has resulted in connection points that do not want to stay together. If you want to turn it into its peach form, be prepared for it to come apart several times. The head likes popping off, but not nearly as much as the waist likes coming apart. And the hips. It's more than a little frustrating. The ToQger alter is cute but limited in what it can do. You have freedom to move parts around for different places, but it doesn't have the well-thought-out play of the RyuSoulger toys.

(It took me way too long to realize, with RyuSoulger, that Bandai deliberately came up with suboptimal configurations for the various parts specifically so kids could come up with cooler, more obvious combinations on their own.)

The EnyaRidedon (sail away! sail away! sail away!) is nifty enough, and it can connect to both Zenkai Zyuran and Zenkai Vroon. I don't know whether the new Zyuran/EnyaRideon set has new sounds, but the original Zenkaiger toys just unite with Rideon to the same "Super Zyuran" or "Super Vroon' sound as if they'd connected to the DX ZenkaijuOh, which is a little disappointing, albeit understandable. (I don't know how far ahead Sentai is planned.)

This new mecha seems like a huge change in approach. I don't recall DX mecha being this well-articulated... well, ever, really. They seem to have abandoned the "must maintain compatibility with last year's toys" design imperative. Maybe this is a response to poor sales?
