Which SH Figuarts Power Rangers Figures Will Make The Cut?
 

Earlier today, Bluefin Tamashii Nations USA announced on their Facebook page that they will soon be posting polls for Power Rangers 20th Anniversary toys for next year! This is almost certainly to include certain SH Figuarts Power Rangers however, the specific statement was:

Yo Power Rangers fans, we're going to be throwing polls up soon so we can figure out what products you want to celebrate your 20th anniversary next year!

This was subsequently followed by a later post:

Do we ask about villains or rangers first? And which villains?

Hence why we mention SH Figuarts, however, by stating "products" Bluefin *may* be implying that they will go beyond figures....

...whether this means the pipe dream(Soul Of Chogokin Daizyujin) of a certain admin here may actually be a possibility remains to be seen. However this news post isn't just about Bluefin gauging interest for Power Rangers 20th merchandise, we are using this opportunity to ask you, the members of Tokunation;

Bare in mind that these guys are only passing along their suggestions to BoJ, they aren't the ones actually in control of producing the figures. I'd also say it's 99.9% completely impossible that we'll ever see a character without a Sentai counterpart. Goldar/Grifforzer makes sense, because he's popular in Japan too, but Lord Zedd doesn't exist there and couldn't be sold. They're not going to create a completely unique figure just to sell to a very small market.

Power Rangers was dubbed and brought over to Japan though. And apparently it was way more popular than Zyuranger. I get your point and all, but there could easily be Japanese fans interested in a Lord Zedd too.

Anyway, Kibaranger needs to happen.

There may not be a Sentai counterpart, but the characters DID reach Japanese shores, so they're not completely alien.

Well, considering the demand in DBZ Figuarts is driven by western interests and Bluefin is telling Bandai what western fans want, I'd say Bandai is willing to listen to them.

I've said it before, I'll say it again: Leave MMPR Rangers and Zords off the poll. They'll win regardless, they're the most obvious thing to be made.

I really want Lord Zedd, Goldar, Zeo Red + Gold, Space Red and Silver, Psycho Rangers, Magna Defender, the Ninja Storm Rangers and the Dino Thunder rangers.

Exactly what I was about to say. You rarely see DBZ figures on places like amiami or hlj. Those DBZ were made for US consumers and became Japanese exclusive for some extra coin. Same goes for D-arts Vile, While a mass release here, he's a tamashii exclusive in japan.

I'd just like a Neji/Psycho Rangers mold made. 6 easy repaints/remolds out of it could be made. Main Sentai team members aren't that big of a worry of being made eventually to me.

Here's the thing, Bluefin is asking what we want to see for next year due to the anniversary, people are going to respond with MMPR/Zyuranger requests, Bluefin knows that and they're using that to gauge which ones hold the most interest. Maybe we won't get the entire team, or maybe we will with the pink chick as a TWE. Either way feedback is important. Zyuranger/MMPR requests are to be expected.

This is not to say that the other stuff is irrelevant, but it's not like they're going to brush aside all the Zyuranger requests after making SH Figuarts Geki and Burai.

However Tamashii in Japan has made quite a number of Armor Plus figures as TWE's, some with completely different diecast metal armor pieces sans Ryo of Wildfire and perhaps some of the Tekkaman releases. I could easily see something be a TWE in Japan but also be a US exclusive here through Bluefin.

Since Sentai has a larger following than franchises such as Tekkaman and Samurai Troopers Yoroiden, I think it's quite possible to see some of the stuff we are asking for.

DBZ has a huge following outside of Japan. Power Rangers/Sentai does not. The fact they're bringing anything over at all is great, but there's just not enough demand to produce figures catering solely to the US. I won't bother continuing to argue.. Just don't get your hopes up.

You do realize that Power Rangers is usually one of the top action figure brands in the US right?

For the sake of comparison, Dragon Ball Z toy stopped being made here after the Dragon Ball Evolution line bombed. Meanwhile the Power Rangers toyline(s) have been relatively successful since MMPR stateside.

If Bluefin is able to bring Dragon Ball Z Figuarts figures over, for an anime series that was more popular in the 90's and only recently got somewhat of a resurgence with Dragon Ball Z Kai, seeing SH Figuarts figures of characters that are popular here from the Power Rangers series is not outside the realm of possibility at all.

Mighty Morphin Power Rangers and Power Rangers Megaforce (Full team for both).

No ones arguing here. My point was, Bluefin has tons of US exclusive figures that wouldn't be as big in japan. Example being DBZ and Vile. Those figures end up being Tamashii exclusives. I think Bluefin can do it again with

Agreed! I think Power Rangers has a bigger following than some would imagine. They have conventions and a pretty die-hard fan base. With the right promoting, these figures would do alright. I can't wait for the polls!

I feel that we will get at least the reds & 6th rangers, so I see this as possibly the only way we are going to get the villains we love. If I had to whittle it down to a handful that I think would sell it would be Zedd of course, Goldar & Rito are a perfect evil general duo. I can't want one without the other, Mesagog was both awesome in design & very driven in his goal, and Grumm, who was also an interesting villian, wasn't afraid in engaging the rangers directly. I would like also Rita & Ivan Ooze, but not sure how she would sell & ooze is all but impossible. Maybe Divatox. For reasons. To fight the Gokaigers. Yep that's it.

Back in 2010 you brought up a poll on your Twitter in the form of a question, asking Rita, Morpher, or Dragon Zord. You told us you were busily working on all 3, but only 1 would appear. To our surprise, Rita was the winner and we ended up waiting for wave 2 of Samurai for you to give us that figure.

Recently at SDCC, you revealed that you are also giving us the Morpher you worked on.

Now please give us that 2010 motorized Dragon Zord you were also working on so I can finally combine it with my 2010 Dino Megazord and Titanus which I have patiently kept sealed, waiting for the day that combining Dragonzord comes along to crack them open and complete the team.

Growing up as a kid in the early 90's, my brother and I only had the original Dino Megazord (which we obtained by ordering through a home shopping catalog since retail stores were picked clean), and we could never find a Dragonzord or Titanus, no matter how hard we searched. Eventually we just gave up and the aftermarket prices rose...

With your affordable line of Zords, I can now finally have a chance to complete that childhood dream yet again, but now it all rests on the Dragonzord, the one Zord every kid in the 90's wanted.

Please BOA, let's see this to the end.

Wouldn't that be funny if Zedd appeared in Gobusters as Messiah's true form? I mean, his virtual form already looks like a red Zordon, so why not. :)

If they were Figuarts, wouldn't they be of the same quality, the box would just say "Mighty Morphin Power Rangers" instead of "Zyuranger"?

I hope villians get lots of requests personally. Heroes are a given, but a hero without something to face off against is pointless. And seeing as Japan isn't as big on villians as the Western audience is, we need to make our voices heard. I'd love to have a Goldar, Lord Zedd, Rito, Ecliptor, Darkonda, and Zen-Aku. Psycho Rangers(Ranger and Monster form) would be cool as well.

No, what I mean is I don't want Figuarts of Power Rangers original characters. Zedd was my favorite PR villian, but since he was not in Sentai, I would not buy a Figuarts of him. Same goes for Wizard of Deception, Zordon, Alpha, Bulk and Skull, Ernie, Divatox, Astronema, etc.

On the other hand, it would be awesome to see Astronema come with interchangeable hair instead of hands.

Then what would be the point? Part of the point of making Power Rangers figuarts is to give something back to the American fandom that've been so loyal over the last 25 years. So why then would they just want to make characters that were also in Sentai? What would be the point of selling them as Power Ranger Figuarts, when that brand is purely an American Market name? My guess is we'll get America Only characters. Which is only a good thing.

Talking in a fantasy island situation about US-only characters, Lord Zedd is the best choice. If they made him it would be one of best pieces in my collection though.

Realistically though, I want the Zeos. I figure I have a much better chance of getting them sooner through Power Rangers than I do with Super Sentai :lol
