Cosmic Fury will use original suits but ZORD fights from Uchu Sentai Kyuranger.

Power Rangers hasn't really hit the same in OG Suit Designs since Hyperforce (If I want to be more fair, the Spirit Rangers, for Television Exlusive stuff) tbh

And this still stands.

You had ONE JOB Hasbro and you failed miserably.

I wanted a TOTAL adaptation of Kyuranger instead of this.

If they're already using the Mechs and monsters then why not just use the suits? I can't say these are an improvement, especially with how distinctive and unique the Kyuranger suits were.

don't the Kyutamas play a big role in the mecha?

Billy and Zack returning is cool.

Wow, that pretty much crushes any potential interest I had in Cosmic Fury. Kyuranger's suits were some of my all time faves

And yet, nobody complained about MMPR 2 and 3 despite the Dairanger and Kakuranger suits are better than Zyuranger imo

Not only were the Kaku suits still used for the Alien Rangers, but once Sentai became better known, more and more people were asking for the Dairanger suits to be used in some form outside of MMPR White. Which was only recently realized in the comics.

In my experience, most modern viewers acknowledge why Saban did what they did in regards to MMPR season 2, but in hindsight wish that the Dairanger suits and footage had been used more.

The Cosmic Fury Suits look Badass. Could careless are the Zords thou.

Neat that we're going the MMPR route of adapting the Zords, but a big shame that we're not getting the Kyuranger suits, those were really cool.

I keep calling out Hasbro for not adapting the Kyuranger suits alongside the Zords, and everyone keeps telling me the same reason why, evidently “Too many Rangers”, to which I keep saying I don’t buy that excuse, ESPECIALLY when Dino Charge was able to adapt 10 Rangers, so 2 more wouldn’t be an issue, even in a 10 episode miniseries

Honestly they could've done what they did back in Beetleborg Metallix and made half of the characters human and the rest of them suit actors. And there's a reason even Kyuranger had the kujibiki roulette thing in majority of their eps having some of them participate in missions while others were on standby. This is an epic fail minus the new suits and the OG rangers making a comeback.

I mean, it's fair you don't like it, but that is just wrong on so many levels.

Really? You think you can balance 12 rangers plus several villains AMD returning characters in only 10 episodes without it feeling over crowded?

Not to mention Dino Charge is a very different case. DC started with 5 rangers and slowly built up to 10 rangers, some of whom are only in a few episodes and honestly don't even count as main characters. Kyuranger started with 9, quickly rose to 12 and kept all 12 as main characters. As much as I like Kyuranger, I'll admit it didn't give all of its rangers equal screen time. Garu's character development began and ended in the first episode

"Too many rangers" is such a dumb argument cause you don't even have to use the Japanese footage to utilize some of the Kyuranger suits. Just cherry-pick the suits you want to port over and shoot your own ranger footage -- which they're already doing.

If you want to maintain the same color scheme, great. Use Shishi Red, Ookami Blue, Oushi Black, Chameleon Green, Washi Pink, and like... Houou Soldier or Ryu Commander as the new suit for DF Gold (Or Tenbin Gold, but tbh, he just doesn't have the Vibe of a 6th Ranger). You don't want DF Green in a skirt? Give her SkyBlue. Ookami Blue's suit too matted up and gross? Give him Sasori Orange, Hebitsukai Silver, or Kajiki Yellow.

A plethora of ranger suits isn't a bad thing. It's gift.

Just such a waste to not use some of the best, most Western-friendly suit designs... especially when the alternative is this half-assed half-redesign.

I get like, trying to cultivate a consistent brand identity, but c'mon. Power Rangers' brand identity is variety. This choice is just crazy.

Yes, but I haven't really seen anyone say that this one won't? Moreso that they're just disappointed that Kyuranger won't be getting a standard adaptation, of which many fans wanted especially after the "Supernova" concept was made public.

This is the Internet. When someone says they're disappointed, it means they think its bad. People are calling them "lazy" for deciding to, film original footage rather than just dub over Kyuranger fight footage. How does that even make any sense?

I KNOW I could! Hell, give Void Knight a redemption by making him Cosmic Fury Purple (Ryu Commander), there?s 7 right there. I?m sure they could easily make backstories for the others, like they?re from other planets such as Aquitar, KO-35, Sentai 6, etc., it could work!

I'm not a mind reader, but from what I can tell this sentiment mainly stems from Simon Bennett's' statements on Twitter earlier this year that Kyuranger would never get adapted due to having "too many Rangers" with which to have a proper storyline/character development with, which in turn rubbed alot of fans the wrong way.

While I agree that I wouldn't call the crew lazy for creating original assets, I can see how it would be considered lazy in regards to cutting alot of Kyuranger content out; Essentially throwing it away rather than trying to work with or spin it in a new way as well as the new season being only 10 episodes when everyone is used to 30+.

That's just what I'm getting from people's' general response online though. Am I gonna still give the show a shot? Yeah, but I personally would've still preferred a more "traditional" adaptation, especially given the issues I have with Dino Fury.

Paper thin backstory and making references to other PR stuff is not character or development. Even the old characters need to continue to develop or they'll feel pointless.

The way they're doing it gives them freedom to write a story that actually fits into 10 episodes. You're basically asking them to condense 40+ episodes of Kyuranger into 10 episodes. That's worse than what Megaforce did

Not exactly an assumption when it's right there. And yes, this is only one person, but the sentiment is shared by others even if they don't use the same phrasing


The problem here is people assuming it's bad just because it doesn't match their expectations, which is a bad mindset, imo, because how can a story surprise if it follows your expectations?

I had my own ideas on how to adapt Kyuranger and how to do an anniversary, but I'm not going to insult Hasbro and make nonsensical accusations of laziness just because their ideas are different and my assumptions were wrong

Sure, but that still doesn't mean that everyone who says they're not 100% thrilled by the scenario means that they think the entire show is bad or something of that ilk, internet or not.

People like to have their expectations met. Do I personally think the show will be bad solely because of what they decided to do with the source footage? No, but I wouldn't blame anyone who felt disappointed in not getting what they wanted: A full on Kyuranger adaptation.

And maybe it's just our difference in circles, but I've more been reading people being upset about the concept rather than the execution, especially since the show isn't even out yet.

Yeah, I could?ve phrased it differently, I apologize for that. But my response and stance on the matter stands, and I STILL believe Hasbro could make 12 Rangers work on a limited episode number.

The new suits are fine, but I do feel like that they need more black or some sort of secondary color added to them. Green looks good, but Gold's legs are effectively just a single color all the way down.

The 10 episode limit is a bit strange to me, but I do remember hearing some sort of claim that supposedly the actors were only contacted about this season as Dino Fury's production was wrapping up.

I was originally thinking about quoting specific comments, but I think that's now untenable and unnecessary. I'll follow the trend and the scope and my own thoughts as best I can.

Using new suits makes a lot of sense to me, now more than ever. I blew through the remaining Dino Fury episodes and I noticed the same Neo-Saban trend: haphazard editing of Sentai footage. They try to mitigate the severity of violence by slowing the footage down and crudely cutting bits they don't want or can't use. Sadly, the quality of editing has gotten increasingly worse over the years. In the heyday years, they reused shots dozens of times and freely altered Sentai scenes on a dime. They've gotten lazier and more tempered. New suits means new battles and an ability to control the footage and the violence. Kids Show Violence has always been a hot button issue and I feel Neo-Saban followed that and wanted to play things safe. Disney was the same way, but they were much more willing to do original footage and they knew how to edit pre-existing footage.

Make all the comparisons to MMPR Season 2 you want, but I have come to an old age conclusion: they did Toei wrong!

The reason I say that is because of the deal involving Zyu2! Paying Toei for more original stuff and then dropping over half of it in favor of the Thunderzords is a shit move. Season 2 was also an example in bad editing. We praise that era, but it wasn't all sunshine and honey. They made serious missteps and they become more obvious with time. Even Season 3 and the Alien Rangers arc feels mismanaged.

Will they use all the Kyuranger Voyagers? Doubtful. New Dino Fury suits won't pair well at all and that's why this feels flawed. The lack of thematic cohesion is especially glaring, but I also wonder if we've been had! Think about Cosmic Fury Green and Gold, cause their weapons don't match well to anything in Kyuranger. They could use some of the Voyagers, but others could be custom to better match the suits. I also think that they could use some of the Kyuranger suits as power-ups or additional members. Don't panic and unclench your butt cheeks!

I also don't think that Zedd is the only Legacy Monster in the works! Too easy.

I will reserve judgement until I hear more and see more. Take Berserk. A lot of people were sad when the author died, but were hesitant when it was announced that new volumes would be released. I take the same stance. Concerned, but curious.

There is also something else: whether the 30th Anniversary Special is directly connected with Cosmic Fury or if it's a feature unto itself.

That's hardly a fair comparison when MMPR was all anyone had to go off on back when 2 and 3 happened whereas this is the first time a season seems to be down to merely 10 episodes with original suits rather than taking Sentai footage when people actually knowing what a Sentai is. Especially with the assumption that the people unhappy with this were even around back then.


As for my stance on this, I'm curious as to how this'll work. I guess it's one way to handle Kyuranger as no way in hell would a starting cast of 9 work for 10 episodes work at all. The only suits we've seen being like, kitbashes is also weird but this is also a series first

The decision actually kind of makes sense to me. The reason MMPR did it is because they were worried a shift in suits would ruin the branding they had built up so far. It was a safer bet to use the established suits, so maybe that's what they're trying to do here? Perhaps they don't like the Kyuranger suits - while the suits are cool, they are a bit out there, and there's 10 of them to boot. Building upon the last suits could be seen as a safer bet because the suits are more standard and will be more familiar to audiences.

Also, they could potentially be testing the waters for having a wholly original Power Rangers series moving forward?

I think the questions we need to talk about right now is the anniversary bit involving the returning cast members and the new girl "Yen"?

Yup. The huge level up in build quality that the merger between Hasbro and Takara bought along with the WFC trilogy comes to full fruition now that the obligatory G1-characters are done and Beast Wars had a great run. Because now they can choose the more niche characters that rarely get toys and go ham.

Tarn for example is freakin' amazing looking, love that one.

To be fair, I don't think there is a single Sentai or Rangers show where everyone gets equal screen time. Even if it's not "Red and the Other Rangers", some characters still get more attention than others.

A lot of different factors really did culminate in the best thing possible. Of all guys I'm looking forward to Needlenose and Soundblaster but I LOVE their new Junkions, and while Hot Shot specifically doesn't interest me if they do more Armada in future I'd be interested... Sideways might be too hard to resist
