The GM can just rig the DGP if he wanted to it seems in terms of Riders. Having Tsumuri invite Neon when the game is already underway since too many Riders were dying and dropping Monster for Punk Jack at the start. The only thing he can't control is the Jyamato.
I wonder if the Jyamato have their own GM controlling them...maybe this is all a game to between multiple GMs. seems the DGP staff are getting tired of Ace winning? To be honest, if Keiwa, Neon or Azuma wins, its not that bad? Their wishes will not hinder Ace's goal in the slightest. With how the DGP is getting shady, Ace maybe can get Keiwa a job as a staff to look into it? xD Hope Azuma's wish is different from the previous round. He seems to be less hostile this time around, shown with Letter and Keilow. The white goat did not last long as expected and said. Fever debuts next episode~ |
It's Super Hero Time!
Looks like I was wrong about survivors earning the right to participate in the next game. Giroli just picks whoever he sees fit, which means hypothetically even Kanato and Morio could come back, provided their qualifications are renewable. One of the expendable extra Riders in this roster was called Zelgar, like gazelle backwards, could've been one of Touru's assailants perhaps? There seems to be a side effect for retired players, with Neon being submissive to Irumi, Keiwa wanting to eat sushi instead of tanuki soba and Michinaga being an Ace fan. Like they've lost their desires as well as their memories, until they rejoin the DGP. I think Neon's father, Kurama Kousei, might be affiliated, he sounds like he knows something about what's going on. Must have got some intel from the City Guardians. :p Since Giroli secretly wants to eliminate Geats, it makes sense that he would have a bias for guys like Michinaga who will make the game difficult for him. Here comes Punkjack, Hareruya Win, with the Secret Mission to eliminate Geats. It was humorous how Ace initially dismissed him as just some random idiot until he did a double take after seeing the familiar brown bear head. Win denies being that Punkjack from before and his silent persona paid off as Michinaga totally doesn't believe they could be the same dude. I'm enjoying Win a lot so far, he's got a lot of punk rocker energy and his DGP staff status could make him an unpredictable variable. Even Punkjack Monster has grown on me now that I've seen it in action, that chaotic mix of colors suits his personality. Win/Tsumuri gets some setup here, although Ace is against it, which reminds me of Gou being against Kiriko/Chaser. Na-Go Beat is a red mage, as she buffs Keilow to encourage him to fight and she uses fire, thunder and ice elemental attacks. That's a pretty OP Raise Buckle and I'm surprised how Tsumuri gave it to her for free. Neon acts a lot more confident now after getting her memories and desire back, a veteran like Ace and Michinaga. Na-Go Beat is currently my favorite Desire Rider aesthetically and I look forward to seeing BeatBoost! Ace's first desire that he made 2021 years ago was to continue to participate in the DGP until he dies, which I guess is how he managed to live for so long. Does that mean he could literally die if he ever stops playing? He's already outlived his natural lifespan. Giroli probably didn't expect him to be skilled enough to survive for so long when he approved the desire. Now Ace has granted a desire for the DGP staff to adopt him as family, with Tsumuri being his older sister and Giroli being his father, which implies that Giroli is old even by their standards, despite looking only 10 years older on the surface. Ace finally confesses his true desire to Neon, maybe he feels like he can confide in her due to their similarities, as even though Ace always wins, he still can't get what he really wants. It's nice that he can have someone to talk to about this, as Tsumuri is doing a pretty bad job at the whole big sister thing. Can we get an F for Letter? .... Do you see what I did there? |

And yes, Neon father is totally in with DGP management while the changes in personality of characters who didn?t win are a red flag. |
Watched the episode. Yes, in fact, this is the beginning of the second arc of the show, when accents are placed and questions are asked. By the way, apparently the scriptwriters read the comments of the audience, since they decided to show the cowardice of ordinary people thrown into battle. Also, this round immediately got rid of almost all background characters. I wonder how long Grandpa will last? The change in the characters of the former players, which is not associated with a change in reality (otherwise Sarah would not have noticed it) is an alarming sign. Father Neon is super suspicious. The desire of the GameMaster to get rid of Gits is understandable in principle, because predictability destroys the very charm of the game. And with the protection of the world, as can be seen from the finals of the previous DGP, Ace does not cope very well(In the 8th episode, Tsumuri noted that they lost more civilians than ever). So PunkJack will try to fake his death or loss of skill in the most unsuspicious way.
The beat is, of course, an extremely powerful buckle. Under the previous comments they called the cheating Ninja, but the Beat gives elemental attacks, and also allows you to control Jamato and even other riders. In fact, it can only be surpassed with Boost and / or Ninjas that give super speed, but Zombies have no chance against him. My new theory: DGP is a Gamemaster game. Playing with itself, something like solitaire. Most likely, this game has some useful purpose, besides the entertainment of the organizer, but it is unlikely that it is too altruistic. Jamatos were created by the Gamemaster specifically for the game, but later they began to quickly evolve on their own and, at the same time, Ace continues to persistently search for a clue to the essence of DGP. So now the Gamemaster is losing control of the game and is doing everything to restore it. |
Sad the goat girl went bye-bye. We better get a new female rider soon following Na-Go!
Sucks Neon and Keiwa forgot about meeting Ace from before. |
Another solid episode, although Win has brought with him the cringey humor from other recent Rider shows. He's got long-term cast member energy, though, so I don't see him going anywhere. With Michinaga, we've now got two Riders who are effectively villains.
Keilow... (is there a cross-language pun involving "owl" there?) I'm assuming that he'll either be killed in the next episode or somehow win this DGP against all odds, to be replaced by a young-adult actor. Man, the ageism in this episode is laid on thick. I'm very curious about the comment the Game Master made about "the culling." Is numerous Riders being killed in round one part of the game's design? Maybe a mass sacrifice in order to achieve some unknown effect? The DGP continues to be as ominous as ever. The episode's check-in with Keiwa seems to indicate that, yep, the show has settled on a core of 4-5 Riders (I wouldn't even guess at PunkJack's staying power,) so we may be moving away from Rider-elimination being a regular story occurrence. Keiwa's sister - who we've seen surprisingly frequently for a supporting character - once again appearing makes me continue to wonder whether she'll eventually become a Rider. Keiwa is still in the opening credits, and the staging (him and Ace looking off-screen at one another) still proudly implies he's our other main character. Speaking of the opening sequence, there are a couple of beats (one at the beginning, the other before Ace) where other current-Rider faces would appear. Neon will slot into one of them, and I'm assuming Tycoon will join her eventually. Presumably, Letter will get scratched-out for the next arc. The show still isn't directly addressing the question of why the DGP seems to be able to re-write reality, but can't get rid of the Jyamato. Come to think of it, no Rider desires we've seen have included "eliminate the Jyamato threat permanently." For new Riders, I understand that, but seriously, none of the returning Riders have even tried it...? Something doesn't smell right about that. The show is starting to buckle (pun unintended) a little under the weight of the toy lines. Wow, Beats and that guitar/axe got a ton of screen time. The show continues to be terrific at intrigue, and is still the most watchable Rider series in years. (Given that I thought Build and Zero-One were great, that's saying something.) I only hope it continues to live up to its narrative potential. |

Ugh, Keiwa's back already? I knew it was too much to hope that we were done with him.

By the way, DGP riders are awarded points. For some reason, they were forgotten about in this round. Or in the last game, too, the first round was a qualifying round to reject unsuitable candidates. In any case, I don't think Geats is in first place yet, because he started this DGP, he is not very effective.
By the way, due to scoring and adding riders during the game, I had a question. Is it possible that the winner will not be the one who defeats the final boss? That is, for example, it will be a rider added only in the final round and someone who survived from the very beginning will eventually get more points. Or the same riders who killed Michinaga's friend could have missed out on the win due to a penalty. |
The start of the new DGP season "Scheme", and fitting to the name now the DGP staff start to make their own move.
Fitting the "Punk" part of Punk Jack, Win is a punk rocker who is the total opposite of the silent role he had to take in Encounter DGP, so far the loudest character in the series in him being narcissistic and attention-whore to the point of making singing solos when talking. Win shows how a "musical" characters look/sound like... in a non-musical setting. Otherwise, with him being assigned to defeat Ace, Win also seems to be a worse version of Ace, both Win and Ace are casanovas, but Win takes up his lecherous behavior to Tsumuri to higher levels than Ace. Win and Ace are also tricksters, but Win lies to get a player outright eliminated (thus killed). So far Win'd be an anti-hero (if he's good guy) at best. Ace seems can't really stand him, or likely being 'matched' that Ace seemingly bought into Win's lie about going to the toilet, would Win be someone that is the catalyst for Ace's character development? The 2 newly introduced Riders, Yukie and Tanba, are quite identical in how both are really inept and fearful in playing DGP, with Yukie having shorter screentime than even Taira/Ginpen. So they're making Tanba to be really an example of a regular old guy being thrown into battle, instead of being an old master or something, with his wish being turning himself younger. While Yukie is a celebrity fangirl whose wish is based on that like being insecure of her weight. With Keiwa and Neon gone, both are also kinda stand-ins for them, with Tanba getting Ninja and having his Buckle taken by others (Michinaga taking Zombie), and Yukie h̶a̶v̶i̶n̶g̶ ̶s̶h̶o̶r̶t̶ ̶h̶a̶i̶r̶, getting Propeller and having a wish that also revolve around love, but in a more one-dimensional way of just marriage. But Yukie died in this episode with Neon returning, while Tanba survived with Keiwa still nowhere in DGP. I wonder though if Beat and Ninja are stronger than Magnum or Zombie, they seem to give better output than the more basic latter 2. Michinaga seems to be less hostile this time around, he doesn't seem to view those 2 as his enemies here that he only harshly forces them to fight and trying to make them come into terms with their Kamen Rider status, the moment they wrote their desire which they should fight for, though he's still abrasive and rude like speaking ill of Yukie for her death, though it's not due to Kamen Riders being his enemies but about her way of playing. As usual, they made Neon's development since ep. 4 consistent to have her act as DGP's trump card, being called to deal with the Jamatos that are growing stronger beyond Giroli's expectations, with her triumphantly saving the day including Tanba with Beat Buckle. Starting as a returning veteran, Neon also had a more standout presence among (few) DGP contestants, being an inspiration and 'guide' for Tanba, and while Keiwa's stance on DGP is teamwork, Neon's stance on DGP seems to be about friendly rivalry (with Michinaga taking toxic rivalry type), focusing on winning but making sure each contestants are at their best to compete, thus her assisting Tanba and also disapproving of dirty tricks. Internally, now Ace reveals his secret to Neon only, about his goal (while he still confidently asks Michinaga to wait at the end of DGP for his wish). Other than that, Ace at the beginning claims he hopes Keiwa is having a good time, likely at least putting his on equal spot with Neon, but dunno if it's a lie :p (albeit dunno the purpose of lying there). This episode rule talks about contestants being chosen by Game Master, of which Ace uses a wish to make him a permanent participant of DGP which explains the reason he's always chosen. Giroli outwardly seems to be more accepting of Ace making him his family compared to Tsumuri, but dunno if secretly Giroli hates that (with possibly another reason to be annoyed with Ace) thus he makes a scheme to eliminate him using Win, and likely the reason why Michinaga keeps getting chosen too. Giroli also had a scene where he asks someone regarding Jamato's growing power, and then the scene is about Neon's father Kousei Kurama inviting Tsumuri and also encouraging Neon to get her wish. That'd mean Kousei is likely a DGP staff who keeps secrets to his family but seems to be a better parent than Irumi. DGP seems to be more suspicious though to eliminate the best player to fight off Jamatos in Ace, of which they... fail that of course Ace can clear up the Jamato horde after Win tried to left him for dead. If Ace was abusive towards Tsumuri, then I'd understand her protests against him, but so far she just seems cold. Giroli's probably trolling her a little though, considering how Ace's desire to become DGP staff's family doesn't necessarily mean DGP staff should directly become each other's family, yet he still insists for her to call him father. He's also working behind the scenes to get Ace eliminated, so he's not the loving father he appears. It's unfortunate for Ace. |

Don't really recall Keiwa whining in the past episodes, so if you're referring to this episode than I'm not sure if that's indicative of his character, since the episode makes it feels like he's acting out of character now that he is not a DGP participant. Similar to Neon who acted more obediently, at least before she rejoined. It's pretty difficult to tell if they remained the same or if leaving the DGP also deprived them of their desires in a way, so that's something to find out in the future.
Anyway, while I'm a bit disappointed one of the two new Riders died off so quickly, the fact the remaining one isn't very ready to fight makes me wonder if Punkjack will take advantage of it as some point as a way to get Geats to lose? Maybe create scenarios where Geats has to constantly help the old man during fights, as a way to slow the process of Geats earning points? Or maybe Punkjack will continue to 'fumble' and 'accidentally' put Geats into losing situations. |
Yeah, I definitely have a hunch that the DGP riders are gambling away their desires. If they win, their wish is granted. If they lose, they not only don't get their wish granted, but they also no longer have the desire associated with that wish (unless, of course, they're reinvited to the DGP where they'll regain their memories and their desires). Maybe there's even long-term effects to playing cycle after cycle (and losing) that causes more permanent personality shifts (which would probably be most apparent in Azuma since he's lost the DGP more than any other character we know of).
Honestly, I wouldn't be surprised if at some point, our main cast comes across Kanato and rather than being the bitter misanthrope that he was before, he's much more of a friendly people-person. Or if they encounter Morio and he's more altruistic, noble and selfless. |

Anyways this episode is all just Tsumuri's existential nightmare. Imagine having to pretend to be related to some smarmy guy who you deal with at work all the time and then crazy guitar man Hallelujah Ween starts hitting on you. I liked this one pretty well, its really interesting to see the show dig deeper into its mysteries and I'm intrigued by the alterations to the personalities of the previous contestants. It's kind of weird that they can apparently just get more Riders to join mid-game and begs the question of why they don't do that more often, but who's gonna argue with the Game Master I guess. At this point I almost feel like Na-Go is the secondary Rider of the show from her dynamic with Geats, which I like. |

my man Keiwa got uncharacter development
|
Finally had to wait for better subs (and time on my part) and I really liked this episode.
This is why I love Ace, just the fact he makes these out their wishes shows how pointless this whole thing is to him that he's willing to screw things around for everyone around him. My initial fear is kind of averted on how the second game is a big change up from the first, with the MC's getting their major Buckles in the first round, plus PunkJack to shake things up and all. The only thing missing is for when best boy is coming back. |
