Crazy ways to join both series
 
Okay, I've been thinking about this for a while now. There's pretty much no way either series (Goseiger or Gokaiger) is going to get out of this without being horribly butchered, so I was wondering what edits could potentially be made to make the two series gel together better. Obviously this will never happen because it would require a ridiculous amount of newly-filmed footage, but I wanted to share it anyway.

Ranger cards.

We know the Megaforce is Goseiger, and since Goseiger is a much better match to the origins in terms of colour than Gokaiger it wouldn't be that farfetched an idea to have them be the ones to turn into past rangers. The tensouder already uses cards as a means of power, so the ranger keys could easily be turned into ranger cards. Bandai dumbing things down isn't a new thing, and I can imagine blindpacks of cards would be easier to market in bulk than ranger key sets (unless they blindpacked those, but that's a whole different story).

Like I say, the chances of it happening are next to nothing as it requires so much new footage and it also negates things like GokaiOh and the auxiliary mecha, but it was one of the first things that sprung to mind when we had the news that the two series would be combined.

Does anyone else have any crazy thoughts on how to "neatly" join these two relatively massive shows (especially Goseiger given the amount that goes on in it) into one?

Well, "Ranger Cards" already sorta exist due to Dice-O cards.

Make the various villains of Goseiger part of the Zangyack, and make it all their first wave of attacks. Then when the main forces attack, have them upgrade to the Gokaiger powers and go from there.

The main problem, as I see it, is how you justify certain powers getting used. Why would they use the Morphin Powers when say the Zeo Powers are specifically stated as being more powerful. It's a problem unique to Power Rangers, because a lot of the powers were compared in ways they were never originally meant to. It made sense for the Gokaigers to take on different Ranger powers, because it was assumed each set of Rangers were largely similar in skill and power. It's different for Power Rangers.

Still, I would like to go back to the MMPR days where characters spanned multiple seasons and storylines. It would be nice to get characters as memorable as Tommy or Adam (seriously, none of the new characters really have a chance at any kind of legacy since they're only around for one season).

Exactly, and they're still going (right?). Its the kind of thing I could see being marketed for longer in the West than the keys.

If you remember: Saban and Bandai have never met a dollar they didn't love.

I doubt they'll change the Henshin devices, for that very reason. We already saw the Tensouder in some promotional pictures of the rangers, remember. I doubt seriously they'd dump Gokai's either. Or change the keys.

It'll probally be just an upgrade. Like Zyu to Dai and then Dai to Kaku. My hope is when Go-Busters comes they keep this cast, and just give them another upgrade like the old days.

I already know I'm not getting the direct translation I wanted.

The Sadophone and the Engine souls both were used in their respective shows. The promo for the final bit of Samurai shows him using the Sadophone. And RPM did use the Souls, they just weren't called Souls.

I had a thought on the switch over from Megaforce to "Super" Megaforce:

What if at the end of the "1st Season", they lose to the Warstars? Forced to leave the Earth in shame, they travel to "some planet" where they learn that they need not follow the rules of "Heroism", and with that are granted the new "Super" (Gokai) powers. This way, they aren't bound by the laws (based on the original MMPR) that, will probably, be instilled in them like: "Don't attack first, only defend" and the like...

Just a thought...

I think from a merchandising standpoint this makes a lot of sense. I also thought that it could be very possible for the Megaforce (Goseiger) Rangers to be the one to morph into past Rangers because they're the anniversary Rangers and their Tensouder devices could easily be re-adapted for that.

This is a great idea, which inspired my own idea of what should take place if I was in charge of the story :D. Admittedly, it's not the most original, but here it is:

1) Megaforce Rangers are the primary Rangers, like OmniKhaos said, they lose the war against the enemy.

2) Taking cues from In Space, one Megaforce Ranger is knocked off the team and the rest are forced into working with a lone space pirate who will be the newest Red Ranger. With the help of the space pirate they seek the ultimate power to defeat the enemy once and for all, thus forming the Super Megaforce (Gokaiger). The ultimate power possibly requires a path of heroism, as OmniKhaos suggested.

3) They will have adventures aboard the Gokai Galleon Ã* la Power Rangers In Space.

4) For the Ranger to be knocked off, I suggest the Red Megaforce Ranger, Troy, who would be presumed dead or missing. He would later return as the Gokai Silver character. Thus he can retain a main character spot while sharing the spotlight with the newer Red Ranger.

5) Transforming into past Rangers could take place in Super Megaforce to be more climatic. We are introduced to veterans and previous teams in Megaforce, but they and the Megaforce Rangers are overwhelmed in the Legendary War. To preserve their powers in the face of a terrifying, unbeatable enemy, they condense all their powers into keys that could be used by the Super Megaforce team. Note that this would conveniently include the Megaforce powers, so this would excuse a change in costume WITHOUT simply throwing away all that was accomplished in Megaforce.

I like this idea alot having, Troy returning as Gokai Silver would be a nice idea almost like a homage to when Jason came back as the Gold ranger in Zeo.

if they do use the goakioh mecha for season 2, how will they explain a greenzord instead of a black one? or will they just pull a shogun megazord on us and use the green in footage on the show, but make it a balck zord in toy form?

That would be my guess. They might as well, not like Gokai-Oh made any kind of sense to start with.

Hey you know they say that Megaforce is going to celebrate the 20th anniversary of PR what with the same colors appearing in MF as that of MMPR. So what if in Super Megaforce instead of using Gokai Silver as the 6th ranger, they use Gokai Green instead? Just to make it more nostalgic.

making the sixth green would cause even more problems for zord coloration purposes. now im not into production but how expensive would it be to color all cgi shots of the gokai green zord black? and do some sort of cgi alteration when it comes to the megazord fights which are a more practical effect

Your sig makes me sad.

Not as expensive as you think it would be, to be honest. It could very well happen. At the very least, if we get a toy Gokai-Oh, I believe the theory about them making the Green one Black will be what happens. Like they did with the Lion from Dairanger and the American toy release of Thunder Megazord.

think about what you just said, spend money to fix the gokaioh zord I am pretty sure, they wont I mean, they used that trick hoping kids wouldn't notice with Kakurange/mmpr3 but I mean if they have to use money to fix maybe 3 seconds of screen time for one zord, I don't see saban doing that.

really the only problem if they made the toy a black instead of green, it will suck because I want a gokaioh but cant afford one :(

The lion from Dairanger was already primarily black anyway.
The better comparison would be the Shogun Megazord's arm going from White to Pink.

I still see it happening. Leave it alone on screen, change it on the toy. or go completely lazy and not change anything.

i fully believe if now was then, they would have reshot and recolored the white shogun zord to pink.
with that being said i wouldnt be surprised if they recolor gokai green on screen.

I don't think they will be that lazy, I mean they are actually trying with Megaforce, or at least more than thyy did with Samurai.

at the very least they'll pull a kakuranger and change the toy color, ironic how it would be the same arm, left, hey that's a great homage to the shogun megazord :p

it's ridiculous that good toy like gokaioh would have to sacrificed in changing colors to green to black and cant make anything simple all because fans wont accept a suit change for the footage to work, its insane. this shouldnt be about favoring one suit over the other, it should about accepting the suit that works without creating problems with the toys, putting more money into filming new footage, and screwing up the storyline. it's easy as getting new actors in gokaiger suits edit some gokai changes, create a good story out of that, it would a descent season but everything has to be done the hard way all because fans cant accept a suit change,

it's like fans dont like change.

It's what Saban does. Look at Shogun Megazord, Thunder Megazord. They do this kind of thing all the time. Not such a stretch to think it'd happen again.

Gokai Oh is shit. Plan and simple. Regardless of what country it's coming from, or what changes they make. That's just a bad mech and a worse toy.

No, it has to be done the hard way because Power Rangers fans aren't watching the show to sit through Gokaiger. They'd watch Gokaiger if that were the case.

Matrix has a point. Gokai-Oh wasn't great. It was five vehicles that have nothing to do with each other, opening panels, and power spam. And not even good powers. Giant Shuriken, Centaur Modes, and Machaclon WTF, power spam. Honestly? Bleh. Give me Silver's Mech. I love me a T-Rex Mecha.

Exactly. If Saban gave a rabbits a-hole about it they'd gave done a full season of Goseiger and a full season of Gokaiger. Not half and half. You watch. It'll be changed in the show, on the toy, or both. They've done it before.

obviously they want to do something like gokaiger for anniversary but why not do it first and goseiger after?

how about this, make a full season (what is it now,40 episodes?) of Goseiger/Megaforce, then a full season for Gokaiger/ Super Megaforce/ Pirate Rangers, then skip Go-Busters because even though I haven't watched it yet, from what ive seen and heard, it wont be that great for a PR series, then go to Kyroruger for the series after Gokaiger

Aren't they contractually obliged to do series in order or something? Or did Toei forbid them from skipping? All I remember is that they have to do Goseiger.

Crap show in Japan =/= Crap show in America. We don't need to copy the Gobuster script when bringing it over. Hell, it seems that Power Rangers is at it's best when we disregard the script and make our own stories.

All we know is that the new Saban contract that started with Samurai states that Saban can not skip a season of Sentai. That probably including no backtracking.

All of this. I came around on this point. I used to rail for them to bring over Goseiger word for word, then Samurai taught me what happens when you do that. I can watch Goseiger and enjoy Goseiger. I want something new. But. I also think they should've done a whole season of one and then the other. Combining them just seems like a headache they brought on themselves for no reason.

And all this seasonal trouble could have been averted if Super Samurai didn't happen.
Because then Gosei could've been adapted in it's place, and Gokai could've been PR's 20th anniversary without having to be shoehorned in as Megaforce's second season.
