April 2023 for me to start this series up so avoiding all threads (for now) on Don Bros. Trying to avoid spoiler.
|
Why are you starting this series in April?
|
And why are you posting in a random Donbrothers episode thread if you're avoiding Donbrothers threads?

This thread: fishing experts preparing their bait.
So many things to respond to here, and nobody talking about the episode itself, lol. I also live dangerously and have not seen this episode and am commenting in this thread. |

This is what happens when you concentrate on crappy cgi characters, how many times theirs been a female yellow ranger, and having a male pink ranger. Then a quality story filled with interesting characters and events. |
Well. I was brave enough to watch the episode. It was great. Lots of good comedy here.
I watched the Overtime translation and they did not really touch on the word issue that was going on with Kijino. Basically he was pretending to be Saruhara’s mom, but kept referring to himself as “Boku” which is a pronoun for a man or boy to refer to himself. Not what an elderly woman would say. I guess he should have said “Watashi” or something. (Edit: So I looked it up and apparently “Watakushi,” is what Kijino should have said. This is how an elderly lady would refer to herself when talking to a priest in Japan. Important knowledge that may save your life someday!) Someone who actually speaks Japanese can correct me if there’s a better first person pronoun for an old lady. I forget how they translated it on Overtime’s subs because I was so proud of myself for catching the joke, but they did not explain why he screwed up saying “boku.” Maybe some other group’s subs had a detailed explanation of the joke, lol, but, if not, then you got me here to overexplain a joke! Also the next episode? What the heck?! I’m glad they did not forget about the pink bunny man! This was literally the only question I want them to answer. And I am using “literally” correctly here! This is the only question I care about! |
Anyway, I liked that, in the end, Tarou admitted he felt left out. That was a cute little moment.

Also did anyone notice the nice touch in that Tarou didn't die because he probably considered his team family... |

So the hiccuping was him resisting the urge to immediately call out a lie, then?

I didn't learn anything new about Saruhara or his actual family like I was hoping to, but hey, I enjoyed seeing all the Donbrothers working together to catch a con artist in the act as he attempts to steal from the world's most immaterial man. A good episode to end the year.
Although judging by the next time preview, Kitou is a future member of the Saruhara family. |

We barely know anything about our heroes let alone who's the bad guys. |
I disagree that nothing has happened or that we know nothing. We know about the Juuto rebelling against the Nouto and thier creators the Don Clan. We know that Sonoshi still out there. We have the whole Miho/Natsumi subplot being now spurned by Sononni lying to Inuzuka about Murasame being able to free the original. We still have to deal with Mother and Murasame going out of control. And what the deal with the Penguin Juuto with Jiro.
And I also disagree that we know nothing about our heroes. Taro has his whole background of being inhumanly perfect which makes quite social inept and how he relates more to his rival Sonoi which makes thier relationship more compelling. Haruka whole subplot with Sonoza driving her forward as a manga artist. Everything about Inuzuka and Kijino is still ongoing. And both Jiro coexisting and needing to gain strength together. The only one we really don't know much about is admittly Saruhara and Kaito. Kaito at this point seems to just serve as mystery box character in which his existence raise a bunch of question that the show frankly dosen't seem to care answer. And Saruhara is just underutlized. |
