I mean, the Lightning Collection ones are based on the Movie versions which were slightly differently designed than the series ones.

Only some of them. The base Morpher is very much meant to be the ones in the show.

That's great that the OG voices of Rita and Alpha 5 are coming back.
This special should be interesting and Is more suited for me.

MMPR Monsters "Snizzard" and "Minotaur" are also returning.

Fun, but is this a faithful reproduction of the original suits with Toei and PLEX involved (which seems contradictory given the criticisms regarding the Ranger suits) or is it PR Exclusive Power-Up Forms?

Well given we got the Spirit Rangers in Jungle Fury
this could be US exclusive.

MMPR was 93 and Zyu 92 so I'm thinking also
Hasbro might come up with a variant based on
that but stay close to it. Due to the age of suites
they might make new ones based on 92 so we
could see some minor changes.

To say nothing of the fact that the Minotaur didn't appear in US footage and Snizzard was heavily modified into the Cobra Monster in Lightspeed Rescue!

I saw Zyu on DVD actually and I was wondering
about that. The US must have dropped quite a
few Zyu we never saw and I watched all of
MMPR plus MMPR The Movie on DVD.

I'm currently watching Go Go 5 at the
moment and saw the US had swapped in
a lot of their own. I did see all of Lightspeed
Rescue on DVD as well.

There was a Psyma Beast that was an
Elephant. Was he in Lightspeed or yet
another swap out by Saban from Go
Go 5 for a US replacement?

The US used every Zyu Monster and footage from virtually every episode in some capacity or another. However, many monsters didn't always appear in US footage for one reason or another. Those that did were recycled endlessly in the old days. Many of them were modified extensively and turned into another monster entirely. It's one of the things that sets PR apart from Sentai (though Sentai has also done it up to a point).

Teaser synopsis:

Obviously, we have to wait and see till the actual special drops but I'm weary by the info that's come out about it so far. I'm very torn on drawing upon Thuy Trang's real life death to inform her PR character. This goes for all shows that do so. It's a very thin line between honoring the dearly departed and exploiting them.

Considering Trini Kwan is one of my favourite Rangers in the franchise, as well as being my favourite Yellow Ranger, I can't help but feel a twinge of dread. Especially since it's implied this special takes place in the present day....and it's been almost ten years since the Legendary Battle.

I'm open to the idea of this special blowing me away, but given Hasbro's current track record and what we know so far, plus the fact that we just lost Jason David Frank, you'll forgive me if I say that I have a very bad feeling about this.

Given that it's been 5 years, the implications of this worrisome summary, the uncertainty of Cosmic Fury, and the video that was recently shared in the "JDF Has Passed Away" Thread, I have to admit that this will be year that decides it all.

2023 will answer the question: will Hasbro sell the franchise!? 2023 may also answer another uncomfortable (albeit less likely) question: will Power Rangers come to a sudden end!?

I believe in the possibility of the former rather than the latter.

All that said, I NEVER want Saban to have a hand in direct ownership...EVER AGAIN!!!

And the worst part? I saw it all coming from a mile away.

I hope Universal gets their hands on it.

No, people are just scared for the future of the franchise given everything that's been piling up ever since Hasbro bought the rights. Not just the perceived quality of the seasons themselves but also how Hasbro has treated its relationship with fans, the rumors of breaking off from Toei, and now most recently the news that broke on how Hasbro was essentially trying to steal/kill off JDF's' "White Dragon" passion project. So understandably, fans are very weary of the near future.

I'm surprised that Jason isn't returning.

The actor being in jail for stealing money from the government may have more than an effect on that.

Wonder how they'll explain Thuy's passing through Trini and how her legacy was passed onto her daughter to takeover?

Not to mention JDF didn't even want to be in the Reunion Special. Yet after his death, who do we see in the thumbnail for Once And Always? The Green Ranger.

That should tell you something.

Austin St. John was in custody for a week at most. We don't know whether he was even in jail or prison. He might eventually be found to be guilty of fraud but indictment alone does not make anyone automatically guilty.

Hasbro wasn't complying with police, they were just avoiding any unnecessary controversy.

A listing on IMDB confirmed that Ron Wasserman is returning for the special too

Just remember IMDB can be edited, They would've said something about his involvement by now as he's well known in the Ranger fandom.
