Love how the shoulder cape switches sides when he transforms. The wardrobe team went hard on this team, definitely reminds me of the awesome outfits of Gokaiger.

Nice! Though I so wish the team had like a Green Ranger in their ranks. As the sixth ranger.

But no. We're stuck with gold & silver rangers. We've had two Green Rangers from Zyuranger/Mighty Morphin & Hurricaneger/Ninja Storm. What's happened to SS nowadays?

I used a VPN to access the video and there you go guys... it is proven based on the trailer that PapillonOhger is female. She seems to cover most of her face a la ninja.

Edit: I just realized this, but she looks like the speed sonic guy from One Punch Man, with the long hair and purple scarf thing.

I'm loving Blue design, and his character I really hope they go for the "banchou" route

I don't know why, but I'm getting a strong Attack On Titan vibe from the trailer.

So far, kind of loving this--I know it probably won't last, so I'm enjoying for now that we're getting these "adult friendly" shows and toys from Don Brothers and now King Ohger... only a matter of time before we go back to the "everyone's a clown! yuk yuk yuk! look at this spring-loaded brick toy that burps!" Sentai...

I love that they went with kind of a bitchy persona for Yellow too, should make the show more fun. And I also guess that people who said purple was a dude and those who said she would be a girl are both kind of right--looks like they're going for a mysterious/androgynous type character

Also glad we're back to the 2:3 girls/guys ratio--as much as I loved DonBro, it was kind of a sausage fest...

I wonder how the acting is going to work with PapillonOhger. sentai shows have more expressive characters than most, so covering half her face will be tough. I assume they will remove the mask either early on or halfway through, and it'll be her coming out of her cocoon (like a butterfly).

Maybe they will focus on gestures?

Honestly I'm kind of surprised they seem to be doubling down on exaggerated, individualized, Sentai casts with strong personalities again after Donbrothers to the point where half the fun seems to be finding out how the heck all of these characters are going to gel and work as a team together, if they do at all.

Not to mention the Red being "evil."

I think I read somewhere that Papillon is a woman posing as a male king which is why she hides her face?

Oh and hey, we've got a villain whose main job is making the monsters grow again!

You do know that there were characters that did it before Goche right? Two that came to mind are Acha and Kocha from Ohranger.

He's a scripted usurper, right? Even if he took the throne from the tyrant king, this at least shows him as a person who is used to solving problems with violence.

This looks AWESOME so far; that added spice of the Red being Sougo but leaning further into the 'demon' bit of 'demon overlord' and then the wild costume design has me looking forward to it

Actually, the actress mentioned in the press conference that she'll have another "role" without the face covering--a diametric opposite to her "king" role.

She wouldn't/couldn't reveal more than that, but I'm guessing maybe she'll play a princess or something girly to contrast with her sort of masculine "king" role? something like a Mulan type character?

That actually sounds like an awesome concept.

Could also be another Shinken Yellow thing where she's taking the place of a family member, perhaps an older sister, hence the partial face covering.

For recent KR examples of partially face-obscuring clothing, Geiz had a high collar and Vice had a mask, which I'm pretty sure they donned mostly cause they thought they looked cool. Then there's Magine, who doesn't even have a mouth and she probably has no more than 3 different facial expressions. So I don't see a problem with Rita hiding half their face behind their comically large collar flap. They seem to be a pretty reclusive character anyway, hailing from the impartial and cold land of ice and snow.

Well, Rita's kingdom is freezing cold so I assume that's why she's dressed like a cyberpunk ninja.

For a franchise covered (no pun intended) with suit acting, where in two recent-ish seasons numerous rangers were in full suits even outside their ranger form, I don't find one's face partially obscured to be of any concern. Her character even doesn't look like she'd necessarily have particularly animated facial expressions to me.

Yes. I did see all this yesterday, but I was too busy to delve into it.

That said, I... Absolutely love what I'm seeing! The aesthetic looks great, the suits are magnificent, and the cast have some cool costumes, with Red reminding me of Koh from Ryusoulger which makes me happy, and Yellow is just straight up a Disney Princess.

I'm looking forward to seeing big monsters stomp on castles (though I know it won't be like that the whole season) and the wild King cast.

Very excited for this!

It definitely seems like they're pulling out all the stops for this season.
