what is the worst sentai series in your opinion?
well since a kamen rider version has been made i think this should also be made. so tell me, whats the worst sentai team?
|
Gobusters easily for me. It's Toei's half baked attempt to do something like Power Rangers, but it fails not only at that, it's far too bland to be a good Sentai as well. As awful as this may sound I think Super Sentai should take a break and let Metal Heroes come back while Toei recharges it creative batteries.

Kaizoku Sentai Gokaiger! :D
|
I've seen Go-Onger and Gokaiger. Currently working through Dairanger and Go-Busters. Don't particularly dislike any of them...

-No characterization for anyone. -Bad mecha for everyone. -Bad costumes outside of Stag and Beet. -Beet J Stag is the only interesting character -Awful villains -Terrible premise The list goes on. Gobusters fails in every category and has become the most stereotypical sentai I've seen in years. |
Goseiger. Good designs can't make up for a lame story, lame characters, and terrible villains.
'sup, Sentai. |
I wouldn't say one is the worst, but the least satisfactory overall in my book would be Goseiger. Don't get me wrong, I love GoseiKnight, his character arc, and Brajira/Buredoran, but that's about all the series had going for it.

But still they're leaps and bounds beyond the Go-Busters. How on Earth they managed to get a cast that's so lacking I'll never know. |
Like with Kamen Rider, I will only judge shows I've seen most/all of.
In which case, I think I'd have to go with either Dairanger or Dekaranger. I can't say those two are even that bad really. I just don't agree with Dekaranger on a base level. Dairanger just doesn't have many stand out episodes and overall is forgettable. I'm sure there's worse. I think I've even sampled worse Sentais, but thanks to Gokaiger's great tribute episodes, I knew ahead of time which shows I probably wanted to avoid and for the most part it seems to work. PS Honorable mention to Akibaranger. If it was ANY longer I would consider it the worst, but it luckily knew when to stop. |
Switchblade: Your hatred only makes me stronger.
The worst Sentai I have personally seen, all the way through, has got to be Go-Onger. For how much I now love RPM, I found I don't like Go-Onger. It's an updated Carranger. Not that the show was horrible, or unwatchable, by any means. Just of the four series' I've watched now it's my least favorite. |

It's a toss up between Sun Vulcan and Boukenger. Boukenger has some nice mecha which elevates it a bit, but Sun Vulcan is flat out dull.

So yeah, if Akibaranger had been normal Sentai length, I'd consider it the worst Sentai ever. As it stands, Akibaranger is "okay," nothing that deserves all this prase. Much like Tiger and Bunny, but that's a rabbit hole for another day. Quote:

Changeman. That's all I have to say.
|
Worst Sentai?.
Probably Dekaranger, It was good but the voice over guy really started to get on my nerves after a while, I also found the ending to be a bit dissapointing. |
Can I just transfer my hatred for lightspeed rescue over to go go five? It all started with the suit design for me anyway.

Goseiger is by far my worst, but since that has already been mentioned a million times, same with Go-Onger, I'm going to say Dynaman. The episodes take forever to get through, they are boring, and I stopped watching it after 9 episodes. Every episode felt like it was an hour long.
|
its a toss up between Goseiger (Sentai *glares*) and Gobuster
Akiba was awesome though |

That's where the praise comes from. Quote:

Still not understanding the Goseiger hate. At this point, I'm really starting to think it has less to do with the show and more do to with going with the crowd.
And "They chose it over Gokaiger for Megaforce" isn't a valid reason. |
The thing with Goseiger is that the first 20 or so episodes are pretty dull. I can imagine a lot of people starting it and losing interest. Once Gosei Knight shows up it picks up a lot and the last half of the series is pretty good.

And where is all the Go-Onger hate coming from? Another series that I adored. As for Goseiger I have to say that I've seen far worse than it, Gobuster being the prime example and that damn show isn't even finished yet! |

I also want to say that I don't get all the Gobusters hate, but honestly I can't. I like the show well enough myself, especially since Masato and J showed up, but I can't say I really enjoy it as much as, say, Gokaiger. The characters are pretty dull and the plot is absolutely glacial, but it does make up for those drawbacks with some of the best mech stuff I've ever seen in Sentai and an awesome villain in Enter. |

I only watched two episodes of goseiger and the only thing I hated was the jumping sound effect. Otherwise it was kind of blah.

I don't think I've come across a Sentai series yet that's flat out awful, but Boukenger ranks pretty high in my "great concepts, horrible execution" list. |
There hasn't been a Sentai series I've seen that I haven't loved. But if this was for bland, I'd say Go-Busters. I skipped after the first ep and came back for Beet and Stag Buster. And I skipped this weeks episode. I'll come back when they show off their powerup

But I digress. This is a Senati thread afterall. Quote:

It's the only medium that I, now, vehemently refuse to watch. I'm currently under the impression that no anime can be considered "Good." And what? :p |
Gokaiger. I've tried and tried, but it's just too hard to get through an episode.
|
Part of me is enjoying all of the people saying they don't like Gokaiger. The part of me bitter having to read all the Gosei-Hate.

There is no character growth, there is no plot advancement, nothing occurs during the series at all. I've been trying to work on a larger post detailing all my problems with the series, but so far all I've come up with is blind rage and more and more realizations over why Gokaiger was so awful. |

Special effects doing the fighting for the rangers. A ranger cast that looks like a bunch of 8th graders. The supporting cast is really dumb and annoying. Terrible acting from the ranger cast. The heders were a dumb concept. The only thing I can give Goseiger a compliment for is having awesome names for their monsters. Quote:
Anyway, it is hard to say. I mean, there are a lot of great shows in the 50ish episode mark like Fullmetal Alchemist Brotherhood (well 64 eps), Ghost in the Shell SAC, Code Geass, and most Gundam series, but for the most part, the best are definitely in the 26 range. Death Note, Ouban Star Racers, Gankutsuou, Escaflowne, Speed Grapher, Noir, RahXephon, Cowboy Bebop, Big O, Wolf's Rain, etc. As for Gokaiger, it is a flawed series, and I can understand why some people do not like it. However, it was advertised to me as a series of fanservice, and that is exactly what it provided. Plus, it had a strong ranger cast, the best we have had since GekiRanger, and some truly excellent fight scenes. Oh, and it had Basco, which showed they still know how to do a Rio type character. |
Quote:
Speaking of Gekiranger, when did Jan learn to speak a full sentence without inserting his "Nikiniki wazawaza"? :lol Basco was one of the points in Gokaiger's favor, I'll admit. |
I do agree about their own fighting style, but what would be the point of doing their own thing when the feature of the series was them turning into other rangers and using their fighting styles? For me, that is one of Gokaiger's strong points. Sure, the Gokaiger only had one fighting style, but how many series actually change their fighting style? Not many. Even DaiRanger, the greatest Sentai ever made, stayed with one style for the rangers throughout the series. Gokaiger gave us 35 different fighting styles.
