Ultraman Arc Trailer
|
You know, I was just thinking that it was getting pretty late in the year to still not be hearing anything about this year's Ultraman.
It definitely looks like an Ultraman show. Transformation roleplay toy out here making R/B's look compact and streamlined. Maybe seeing a bit of Gaia in the colors and head design? |
Omgggg, I absolutely love the design for Arc!
The showa vibes in the trailer were wonderful, and the "shuwatch" really hit! I got unreasonbly excited about it lol The combo of Tsujimoto and Tsugita also has me very excited! Tsugita has been a fave writer of mine since his episode of Z, and his episodes since have just cemented that more and more. I'm so excited to see what he does as full head writer ^^ Very curious if that's a lights-&-sounds gimmick we're looking at there! If it has lights that would be the first time a base form ultra gimmick has had lights in it ever! So that would be very cool to see! o: |
Wow.
So, first impressions: The logo shot at the end is very Showa-like Love the suit design, I love the primarily red and silver coloring with a bit of black on the neck area, a nice attempt at Showa-era aesthetics with a modern touch I like the cube item Quote:

The vibes combo'd with the staff has me bouncing off the walls honestly, July can't come soon enough T^T |
Kind of giving me RoU/Jack vibes mixed in with Taiga/Orb (because the protagonist is an investigator).
A rubix cube transformation device is definitely novel. I wonder if they bring back transformation fields. Will there be form changes or different cubes/different powers? Did I spot Black King? |
So the horn that they are talking about fell on a mountain called Shishioyama. Shishio supposedly means lion's tail, sooooo Ultraman Leo reference perhaps? I mean, he doesn't seem like the close combat type based on the trailer, but maybe Leo shows up late in the show to be the one who gives Yuma a few words of wisdom and delivers him his power-up?

Ooooo yes, I've been wanting to see Tsujimoto as lead director for some time now, he's directed some really great stuff for the past few ultra shows. Tsugita has also done some good work so interested in seeing him be part of the lead creative team

I enjoy like "ultra space" sorta stuff when it's for stuff like in X and Z, or just to give us insight into the host or ultra's thoughts. A lot of shows use it in very interesting ways. So overall I would like to see them return, but I also would rather see them be dialled back a bit compared to some shows, and only used when they add smth to the show by being there Tbh while Blazar dropped a lot of more modern tropes, and i think that worked out for it well, Blazar did things bc they worked for blazar... So i hope show-runners going forward make decisions based on what works best for their show rather than just avoiding existing tropes just for the sake of avoiding them (if that makes sense) |
I'm liking the look of the suit, wasn't expecting him to look so traditional for a lack of a better word, but I'm cool with it. But honestly, I'm not feeling the changers so far but it might grow on me the more I see it.

Apparently there's an extended trailer that shows off some additional details, though some poeople might consider this info spoilers, so watch at your own discretion
https://fxtwitter.com/DrEggUpdates/s...huUxADfWA&s=19 Tbh the sword looks neat, but i'm VERY surprised to see us getting Armor like Ultraman X again... Not against the idea at all but might have been neat to see more traditional forms, (and i guess we still could), but i'm very curious to see what they do with the armor concept this time around |
I kinda feel we're doing armors again because they're cheaper than making new forms, thus meaning there's more suit budget to be used for new kaiju

I was honestly thinking last week that we haven't heard from 2024's Ultraman in a while, then I see this trailer earlier today and... Boy... I'm into this!
I notice the very Return of Ultraman aesthetic the title goes by, and given his very simplistic design (that I absolutely adore, but I'll talk more about that in a bit) with people speculating if he's Jack's son, it's also Ultraman Zero's 15th Anniversary (Yes, I saw that video and I loved it) which means expect him to pop up or Arc having a form based on him, so... ULTRAMAN ORB HURRICANE SLASHER!!! Sorry, couldn't resist. Especially as one of my favorite Orb Forms. Anyway, the design! Very simplistic, which I like, and an interesting head crest. I'll admit the face is still growing on me, but I can definitely tell they're going for a Showa Ultraman look which I do not oppose, but for some reason, I got a sort of Gaia feel from him and his changer. The device is pretty neat, albeit kind of unconventional with the cube/crystal and the rubix thingamadoodle, but I must say, I like them. Arc might not beat Blazar in design (and in some cases personality, love my Ultra Unga Bunga), but I'm really loving what I see here! Unlike the silhouettes with the New Generation Heroes, or Blazar's ominous teasers, this was a pleasant surprise to find today, and it definitely has me excited for it. |
Honestly I'm surprised it took them this long to do armors again.
No surprise with the sword considering the director. |
Nice.

This looks and sounds great so far.
Among everything I've read so far, Rution piques my interest. This seems to be a rare type of show were the powers aren't bestowed upon the hero by the Ultra they transform into, but another being of light entirely. And the appearance of Ultraman Arc comes from a drawing the main character made as a child, his imagination of what the "Strongest Hero" would look like. |
Yay new Ultraman! Arc's design is definitely a back to basics style after Blazar which I don't mind. Plus he has cool looking armour like X does, so that helps make him stand out.
I've wondered if we'd get a Tsujimoto directed show for a while so that'll be interesting to see! |

It has a lot of potential to be a very unique dynamic, I'd love it if Rution and Yuma are sort of co-protagonists, who are essentially equals who simply have different skill sets than each other |

I love this new trend of making Ultraman weapons actually scaled for an adult suit actor.

Hiroyuki Takami of Kamen Rider Ex-Aid fame and Daisuke Asakura formerly of TM NETWORK will be singing the opening theme. The ending theme will be done by ARCANA PROJECT the group that recently worked on the SYNDUALITY Noir ending theme.
