Toku fans are feasting...
So happy that the Generation Kikaida releases have been picked up so quickly. |

What a selection!

Fun, but confusing.
I thought V.R. Troopers was part of the old Hasbro deal, and Shaider was used for Troopers. The reason some of the Metal Heroes were region locked on the that Toei YT Channel is because Hasbro had the rights to the ones which Saban adapted back in the day. Does this mean Hasbro allowed them to release Shaider, or they've scrubbed and abandoned any responsibility to what does and doesn't get released? |

Also very happy to see V3 and Kikaider get a release for all of America as opposed to being region locked to Hawaii, lol. |
Winspector and V3. A double dose of Miyauchi!
|
Thought Shaider had some Movie Specials.
Don't see any indication that they're part of the deal, suggesting that the issues which plagued SHOUT! regarding Sentai Movies may also be felt by Discotek: Movies and Series are two separate deals! |

Character rights and TV show rights were two separate things during the Saban Entertainment days. The rights for the VR Troopers TV show (and Saban's Masked Rider, which was abandoned by Disney during the 2000s) had to be renewed constantly, while the Power Rangers and Beetleborgs rights are for perpetuity. It's possible that Hasbro didn't renew the VR Troopers license, and now the three adapted Metal Hero shows are back with Toei. But we won't know for sure what really happened until we see the back on the Shaider Blu-ray. If it just says Toei, then the rights are back in Japan. If it says SCG P.R. or Hasbro, then it was a collab with them. |
More Showa Rider shows being available in the west is awesome!
|
If anyone watched the discotek stream, they also did a call to action and asked for people to purchase some of the currently available toku releases. They specifically shouted out the live action Cutie Honey series, which is pure kino, imho.
I guess the tokusatsu sets from them must be selling well since they keep doing them and making all these hype announcements, but, hey, there’s no way more people owning that cutie honey set could be bad. |

My hope is that maybe they'll do a boxset in the future with all of them, like how Shout released the Classic Tokusatsu Collection. I don't know how likely that is, however. |
Yes give me the kikaider
|
I can’t wait for all of these.
