The anime adaptation of isekai manga The RED RANGER Becomes an Adventurer in Another World will be airing January 2025. The story is about a red ranger of a sentai team called Kizuna Five, Tohgo Asakaki aka Kizuna Red, doing sentai stuff in a fantasy world. :lolol
His companions are a sorceress, princess, and a warrior.

I guess it makes sense considering he was mocap actor for Taro in ULTRAMAN on Netflix, which Shinji Kasahara (Time Fire and Kamen Rider Gyago actor) was also a part of as mocap actor for Ultraseven.

For at least a decade or so, right? That said, I look forward to this for being, like you pointed out, two different genres colliding, and having read a bit of the manga.

This looks like a lot of fun!

As over-saturated as the isekai genre is, I do like how it being so well-known gives authors a foundation to put unique spins on it with stuff like this.

If only there were more doing that, instead of cranking out formulaic "I got a cheat skill and a (slave) harem" slop...

I would even forgive this if the scriptwriters didn't create such formulaic and nondescript fantasy worlds. That is, this is the most interesting thing in ?fish out of water? stories: getting to know a new, unusual world and interacting with it. So that the hero, and with him the viewer/reader, would be surprised and never know what awaits them next. And standardization completely destroys all this. In essence, such issekai are the fantasy equivalent of the ?killer butler?.

This is the main problem I have with this particular manga / anime by the way.

The idea of plopping a Toku hero in a fantasy setting is appealing, but man, why did it have to be the most basic and boring MMO roleplay isekai trash world. Why does it operate on videogame logic. Why are there item drops, quests, visible stats like HP or wisdom, and dungeons? It's so dumb. If they had put in some thought and created an original fantasy land for the hero to explore it could've been great.

As it stands this story is held back by the very tropes it tries to make fun of. Also, the jokes aren't even particularly good. If you have seen one single Toku parody in your life nothing in this will make you laugh.

Eh, I don't expect a whole lot. To use food analogies, it ain't no Ginza omakase sushi, but it's as good as a conveyor belt sushi chain like Hama, Kura, or Sushiro or those 12-piece sushi sets from a grocery store because I'm getting my fill. That said, I hope someone in the future does come up with a better one. It's a start.

Finally... Quality Isekai...:lolol

I know Isekais are all cut from the same cloth and nothing special, but I'm not going to complain about this basically being junk food. Heck, one could argue Tokusatsu fits into that category, and I personally don't care.

I've read some of this Manga and had fun with it, so at the very least seeing a (rather neat design) Sentai Ranger run around a Cut-and-Paste Fantasy World with a toyetic arsenal is enough for me to have a good time.

It's not going to be Sentai Daishikkaku or Ai Wo Sekai Seifuku No Ato De, and I honestly don't expect it to be.

In any case, in every popular and not so popular genre you have to look for diamonds among costume jewelry and garbage. If only there was a desire to search.

No, I perfectly get it! I probably could have worded my statement better. I understand that not all Isekai are "bad" especially since I myself haven't seen all that many I know I'm not the right person to be discussing it. Heck, there are some I'm recommended a lot and just never got around to them, so I would believe that there are some out there that aren't representative of the genre as a whole.

In a way my thoughts remind me of how my own critiques on Isekai can be used on me as a Shounen Enjoyer, or when people look at Tokusatsu and immediately go "Eww, Power Rangers."

While I'm not one for Isekai anime, I'm probably going to take a look at this one.

I still need to take a gander at Love After World Domination cause that looks cute. But compared to what I saw getting pushed heavily a while back, Ranger Reject, this feels like it has the actual aesthetic and characteristics of a Sentai from what little I've read and seen.

Seriously though, the person behind the manga is a Toku Nerd through and through based on what bits I see posted on Twitter and I think that alone will get me to watch/read this anime/manga.

It's been revealed that the show is getting dubbed, and I really hope that they go the extra mile and have the main character be voiced by one of the real life Red Rangers.

At the least give me Johnny Yong Bosch or Zeno Robinson. :rock:

I give them an A++ for having Matsukaze on as the blue ranger.
That said, Go Go Loser Rangers did it too if you check the cast. Pink Keeper is voiced by M.A.O who played Luka/Gokai Yellow in Gokaiger and voiced Raptor 283/Washi Pink in Kyuranger, Red Keeper is voiced by Yuichi Nakamura (not to be confused with the man who was Yuuto/Kamen Rider Zeronos) who voiced Beet J Stag/Stag Buster.

Oh yeah, watched Red Isekai this weekend, very fun.

We got an Akira Kushida Mecha Insert during the first episode so I'd like to say Satelight's done their homework.

Also we have another Sentai Veteran in the show too. Tetsu Inada's voicing the Kizuna 5 equipment. So that was fun to hear!

I didn't know I needed a mage straight woman reacting to tokusatsu conventions in my life until this show.

I wonder what brand Kizuna Kaiser will be released under, Super MiniPla or Moderoid. Hopefully both. Heck, a Chogokin or The Gattai release would be incredible. :rock:

Did they really get Haruka Tomatsu (Candelilla) to voice a monster that was in a romantic relationship with a Blue Ranger?

1. It's cool we're getting more flashbacks/scenes of the Kizuna 5 in the adaptation.

2. The fact that each flashback gets an episode label of "when" it took place is incredible.

3. That fight between blue and the monster... they actually used a real life location and redrew it for the show. That's pretty much a recreation of Mizunohiroba Park! I await the day they do another flashback and we get the Oomori Hill.
