What if WB bought FOX Family in 2001 instead of Disney
How do you think Wb would've treated the Power Franchise as compared to Disney? I can see the show staying in North America (US or Canada), The show would air on Kids WB, Cartoon Network and a new channel WB Family. Power Rangers would fit with the content that those channels were airing at the time. Imagine Power Rangers being part of Toonami! I would like to think they would keep it because WB has always struggled to create live action content for kids and family? What do you guys think? Am I fantasizing a bit too much or could there be some truth to this?

As a topic, this really fits more in Show Discussion than News and Rumors.
Anyway, there are pros and cons to this idea. Concerning CN, it definitely wouldn't have a home there. CN Real was poorly received to begin with. While PR is a kids show, it's not a cartoon, so I don't really see it making it on CN or Toonami. Meanwhile, Kids WB was always a programming block with a limited lifespan. It definitely wouldn't feel too out of place there, but once that block ended, it would probably have a hard time finding it's footing. I think WB may have had a greater interest for Power Rangers compared to Disney, and it would be during an era where WB wouldn't be as tight with their wallet compared to now, so it's entirely possible. Granted, I wouldn't want PR with modern day WB, considering how they're treating half the stuff that gets made. |

It's more notable that Disney was never really interested in selling PR, and WB never made a move expressing interest in acquiring it. Instead they went and made Dragon Knight, which... yeah. |

While they didn't have nearly as much live action stuff compared to Fox Kids, Power Rangers was very much right up their alley. It was just that Disney opted to buy the entire Fox Family network, so it's not like any individual programs had the chance to be sold off. |

I don't think it would really matter. They would treat it no differently. At least, Digimon would be on KidsWB! and not on ABC Family & Jetix.

I concur, I don't think it would have fared better as a lot of TV execs would have just been looking for the next big thing as it were. PR wasn't that sadly, it's peak had passed. That's not to say it wasn't good any more, as it was, general interest was on other things.
Personally, I'm still bitter that Mystic Knights died so quickly. Lived that show. Celtic mythology is a perfect theme....to me at least. |
Well Power Rangers could have been improved possibly and it could be a more direct adaption like Samurai was so if we're talking CW we could have gotten something closer to what we had with Dragon Knight which was really good.

If Viacom had it then Power Rangers would've been on Nick way earlier too lol. Maybe it would've been better if it when to Nick in 2003 once Wild Force ended? I know Nick was completely different in that year as compared to 2011.
