And bro. You're denigrating people who import Japanese kids toys on a forum that's 95% about the import of Japanese kids toys. Read the room. |

You need to get over yourself. Like honestly. Normally I wouldn't comment here but I think multiple people need to start talking against you to get it in your head that what you're saying is not welcome here. So let me end with an example in which the Tariffs suck because it's doing more than just what we've seen here. Ever heard of Kotetsu Toys Japan? Online import store owned by a man named Taka who has a lot of second hand and single versions of toys people can grab and is all around a good guy? He might end up having to close his store as a result of this. Dude has been dreading every bit of news we hear about it (I've been seeing it on Twitter, dude's not taking it well) because this store is his livelihood. Here's a video he made on it recently. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KCTZvrABN0U If after all of this, you still feel the need to mock people and not keep it to yourself? Well really that shows everyone on the forum who exactly you are and that's not as good of a thing as you think it is. |

I'm just giving an example of the fact that small businesses and livelihoods are going to be hit hard by this. Less arguing and more trying to maybe see if i could get a decent response, but you're so set in being a contrarian, sad. Parasocial is also a funny word to use, too, since I hardly shop from or interact with him.
But hey, if you believe everything said on the internet is a battle that you need to win, even if it does come across as sad, then you do you. I've said what I need to say. |

I don't know Enchilada645 in real life, but somehow I doubt that he has enough resources to save someone's business from the consequences of the international economic situation, even with the greatest desire. And yes, even the best global changes always destroy someone's life, but still, they should improve the majority and this is what justifies them. If we talk about what is happening now, then for the successful implementation of this idea, a period of preparation of the domestic economy is necessary, which was abandoned because populists are in power, preferring the shock effect and chatter to useful actions. So people have the right and even should be outraged by the situation, otherwise it will only get worse. |

"So today is a fking day. What fking? sadly, its me. Last night, i have a good dream due to the large of amount of masturbation the day before last night. So today, i woke up with high spirit, ready to fk some ladies, but guess what? something wrong. So i stepped in the class late, everyone was looking at me like a retarded btch, but i try my best to be confident. My eyes looking around for a chair, luckily there this hot girl was sit next to the empty chair so i went over there to sit next to her. Wow fking B cup, my type, i got some downblouse view due to my creativity idea of dropping pencil and asked for help. The nipples was perky, and i got very horny. ok here the fking worse moment ever.. so after i got horny, 10 mins later for some reason my stomach making weird noises. I recall that i did eat a lot of food before i get to class. Those noises are disturbing, also i dont want the hot girl sit next to me hears those noises, so i try my best to hold my stomach tight. I mean so fking tight until it stop making those fking noises; unfortunately, i hold it too tight, i shit my pant with a fking loud farted noise. So fking NASTY, so my pant all wet due to the shit , and the whole classroom smell like SHIT. After class I won't dare look at anyone; slowly, i walked out to clean my ass. I hope that girl still LIKE ME" If you think this is incoherent, your IQ isn't up to snuff. Your situation is almost a 1 to 1 of this. |

you: lol emotional appeal, you people only care about how this affects you personally and not getting your dumb japanese toys, stop trying to win internet arguments, as i try to win this internet argument, which is somehow completely different from what you're doing Gee, has it occurred maybe people are capable of caring about the tariffs and can still be empathetic and sympathetic to small business owners who could be affected by them? Like there's a ton of small independent artists who sell stuff like acrylic keychains/stands of their art or buy fabrics for handmade plushies that were processed out of the country. I made the silly boo comment because I was just trying to be a bit silly to lighten the mood so that it's not too dour, but I do take the tariff situation very seriously. Because this affects way more than just my ability to buy and ship toys without high costs. Quote:
If the goal was just to be a jerk and refuse to acknowledge that people can and do care about the tariffs in other ways aside from it personally affecting them, then congrats, I guess they won? |
This thread was such a pleasant read.

Okay, so this is from Hololive's online shop, but I think it's a pretty good look into how this shit's gonna affect every online store, regardless of what it sells, as long as some of the product was made in China.
This is an example of what this will look like. And here's the example if you don't want to go to Twitter. So yea, I think it's pretty fucking important to understand how this affects everything. You don't need a college degree (or even a high school degree) to understand how utterly unacceptable the tariffs are. This shit is going to do so much damage to the small stores who can't afford these duties, like Kotetsu Toys Japan. This isn't a "boohoo, I can't get my toys!", this is literally a "No one will be able to get anything ever again, period." Like, who on earth in middle-class America can afford this? |

Putting it another way, hobby spending is effectively dead, no matter what you're into, because almost everything we buy comes from overseas and abroad and what's left in here will not last long. And while some can make the argument of "well you shouldn't be concerned about toys anyway" understand that kids still, believe it or not, play with toys, still develop around them, and this is going to affect them considerably down the line because play is important to development. And just as much, hobbies are important to maintaining sound mental and even physical health, be it building a robot model or playing a sport. Both of which, I might remind you, require equipment or materials that are made overseas. Which means they're going to cost more. Which means a lot of people will no longer be able to afford them. There is absolutely no upside to this situation no matter how much you contort yourself to look at it. It's not that there's going to be more money freed up to pay for necessities, it means necessities are going to become so exorbitant that there's less money to go around. |

You will see ridiculous upcharges like that on every shop that relies on Chinese slave labor. I'm sorry you had to find out this way that despite all the virtue signaling, the majority of what you buy is cheap at the expense of Chinese citizens living in squalor. If tariffs proceed unchanged, it will affect everything. But the idea that *everything* it will have upwards of nearly 200 dollars USD upcharge is just false and fear mongering. |

It's going to vary depending on what's being bought. The point I was making was that the duties are likely going to be high, regardless of what you're buying, and how this is going to affect online stores and small businesses. This isn't fearmongering or even false, this is just facts for now. Nice of you to assume that I don't know or care that this stuff is made at the expense of Chinese citizens. And I think that the Chinese government needs to do something to actually help their citizens, and that there needs to be major reforms for everything. I'll admit that I'm far from the most qualified on saying how it could be all fixed. But I'm not pretending that this isn't an issue. And I already understand that different companies upcharge their products on products that use slave labor, what made you think I didn't? That I didn't specify that? This is an important issue in and of itself. But neither of these were the topic of the thread to begin with, it was on tariffs. So excuse me for focusing on that. So shockingly, you can care about multiple things at once. But nice of you to suddenly point out about Chinese slave labor. Sounds like, I dunno, like a virtue signal to me. EDIT: You know what, I don't know why I'm wasting energy to justify my position, since it's already clear you chose to strawman it. So anything I say is not going to matter to you, no matter how I explain it. And no one on either side is going to budge on their stances. So it's just pointless to continue this. If this was something you think was to be won, go for it. You "win". Congratulations. |

No one is forcing you to pay for the tariffs. You don't need to buy that slop. Just like I don't need to buy toys from Japan. Quote:

Some updates coming in now that the tariffs have officially gone into effect, courtesy of bsky user anarmyofbees:
Transformers: - Deluxes at $31.99 - Voyagers at $44.99 - Commanders at $119.99 - Titans at $209.99 for new style, $269.99 for old. - No Leader pricing available. Black Series/Classified/Legends start at $32. https://bsky.app/profile/anarmyofbee.../3loptvvopdk2j Yeah this hobby's dead within six months. |

Though considering that this is GameStop, this might just be them deciding to overcharge Transformers, and then "discount" them to the correct price. Still, not looking forward to seeing how the tariffs will affect physical and online stores for everything else. |
