"No duh, it's a Batman show!" Because that argument holds up for every other superhero show, too. |

I was a major fanboy for years. I even have a Green Lantern ring tattoo and a Bizarro Symbol tattoo. But everything that has happened to that company over the last few years just made me feel like i was in an abusive relationship. I essentially broke up with DC for Tokusatsu when i discovered Gokaiger 2 years ago. After the hard break up and not speaking for awhile , i ran into my ex at the Dark Knight Rises premiere and she just made me angry again. After a year away we decided to talk again when Man of Steel came out. Things aren't perfect , but our relationship is on speaking terms. We will never have the magic that we once had , but at least it won't be awkward when we cross paths. |

I do. Man of Steel was awesome and the first time they made a good SUperman movie. It is the SUperman movie they should have made in 2006 instead of wasting it on being an awful continuation of the 70s garbage.

The thing I hate is how people try link this to the old reeves and saying supermans does not kill when he has killed several times and this ant ment to be reeves superman this is a modern superman that I like and I am a huge fan of him

Alright. Was looking for a good reason to not bother. |
I loved Man of Steel, I loved learning a lot about Krypton and Superman fighting villains on his level. I hope they can make a good Green Lantern movie soon.

I like to say I'm a big DC fan but I'll be perfectly honest in saying I haven't really kept up with New 52, I just couldn't get my ahead around it. It's like every character started at a different point in time and then when two or more characters crossed over we were at another time still. Grr.
Still, I picked up a big collection of Aquaman stuff (currently up to issue thirteen and from here it starts swinging in and out of Justice League which is really frustrating). The Aquaman stuff is great though and if you're like me and have been struggling with what has been hilariously marketed as a window in for new readers, then Aquaman really is a comic for the newbies. and I've checked out the Superman Unchained stuff (all two issues of it). Not really a big fan of Jim Lee's art but you can tell Snyder wrote this, it also seems to follow on directly from New 52 Superman, which I haven't read but the comic doesn't appear to have really tried anything new so you wont be lost, looks like Superman is just going through the motions. Meh. |
Huh, totally missed this thread.
I've been a big DC fan for about ten years now. Got sucked in with JSA and Infinite Crisis and have spent a lot of the intervening years reading current releases and poring over the back catalog. My favorite franchises are the Justice League and Justice Society (I've actually read every issue of the JL from B&tB 28 - present, including spin-offs). The New 52 very nearly lost me and I'm still not a big fan of most of the changes, but there are still some books out there that I love. Right now Earth 2 is easily my favorite mainstream comic book and I'm incredibly pumped for Justice League 3000 and the return of the best creative team in the history of comics (Giffen/DeMatteis/Maguire). |

Picked up the first issue of Batman '66 the other week. While I can't see me buying it monthly, they got the tone of the Adam West series down excellently and its definitely something I can see myself getting the TPBs of. Between this and the figures I'm loving the 1966 Batman resurgence :D Currently my monthly DC list consists of: - Batman - Batgirl - World's Finest - Ame-Comi Girls The novelty of Ame-Comi Girls is beginning to wear off, so I'll probably be dropping that soon. I'm loving World's Finest, and as long as Gail Simone keeps writing Batgirl that's a definite buy. Batman I was ready to drop simply for the sake of saving some money, but I'm enjoying Zero Year A LOT (much more than Miller's Year One, controversial opinion I know) so that's a keeper for now. Dropping Birds of Prey was hard. Simone-era Birds is hands down my favourite DC title but the new 52 version was pretty weak and swapping Katana with a Talon was pretty much the last straw. |
I think 3000 starts in October. I'm pretty excited myself but I've been largely unimpressed with what little I could follow of New 52, so time will tell on this.

Once again, Superman from the comics, inexperienced or not, would have recognised his inexperience and moved the fight out of a populated area. Anyone with a bit of common sense should know that fighting in the centre of Metropolis is fucking dumb. Like I say, I loved all of it, but the fact this was Superman made these moments much less forgiveable than they would have elsewhere. Rookie Superman or not. |
While I agree the property damage during the Zod fight was excessive, I don't understand why people are up in arms about it being Superman's fault. Watching it I got the impression Superman was trying to take the fight UPWARDS and eventually out of the city, but Zod had no intention of going anywhere and just kept bringing Superman down.
Like KRX said Superman was relatively inexperienced in combat, and while Zod wasn't quite so used to his powers he adapted much quicker and could fight someone on that level much easier. |

The civilian thing I can forgive because of one variable: fear. I have been in situations where it would have been smarter if I made different decisions, but my panicking mind caused me to make less-intelligent decisions. I can see why some can't forgive it, but I can see it happening. |
My problem is Superman in the comics always found a way. I know that is boring to a lot of people but the charm of Superman for me has been that whether rookie, or old and grey or somewhere in the middle, Superman would always find a way.
In the comics there was no way that Zod would have forced Superman to play his game, not at least until many other options would have been exhausted first. The whole rookie Superman argument is weak at best. I enjoyed the concept that Zod overpowered Superman though military experience but the results were lacking, for me, a Superman fan. |

I know Superman has killed in the past but every death caused by Superman in this movie was forced, contrived and unnecessary.

New 52 Lobo revealed
i love Lobo and what i know of him from STAS but over at Newsrama we get the look of what he is in the New 52 and well i don't like it
http://www.newsarama.com/18756-dc-re...hat-s-new.html |
It's still better than his old orange and purple catsuit.
And Liefeld isn't involved this time so it's automatically better than the last New 52 Lobo. |
