A bit off topic, but the statement kind of reminds me of an alleged cut joke/dialog I heard about the 2017 PR movie:
- There was (allegedly) supposed to be a scene where Zack initially wants to pilot the Pterodactyl Zord because it's described as the high speed flying one, but he rescinds when it's revealed what color the ranger has to be. |

Human Society is becoming more aware and understanding and diverse and accepting. The art will weave in-and-out, with those that do the right thing and reflect the change and those that exist "solely to entertain" and those who genuinely can't accept change. I had the chance to see some former PR actors at a convention and they misinterpreted a question about the original Mighty Morphin' Movie and thought it referred to the 2017 Movie... and stated that it came across as "too political"! I felt as though they were looking at it from one standpoint and effectively missing the main point! Everything is "political" in some form or another! Stories involving war, regardless of the reasoning or background, are "political" in some capacity. Even those "old harmful stereotypes" and "positive change". |
Strictly from a design and aesthetic perspective, I think the color pink and its adjacent hues have been excellent choices for the non-female heroes from Toei that donned it so far. That said, I like Kiji Brother design-wise and as a character. I just love how he's Toei's Leito aka Ultraman Zero host from Geed. :lolol

The difference between having politics in stories and progressive politics is that in progressive politics, virtue singling overtakes telling a story. Why do you think entertainment in Japan (games, anime, manga or in this case toku) is gaining a foothold in the west? Because people want entertainment and having a good time and enjoy something, having fun. Not be lectured at and get insulted for not liking something. Plus if you let activists write your stuff, it's gonna be garbage, just like what happened with Star Wars, Star Trek and Marvel Comics. They hire writers that know nothing about, or outright hate, the thing they're writing for, and boy does it show. They have no passion for what they are writing, and that's the key word, passion, plus effort. That's not to say certain in Japan has bad stuff, but at least the focus is on entertainment, not virtue signalling. I'm probably gonna get kicked out for this, but I don't care. I went to toku to get away from the recent western garbage in entertainment, but if they say they're getting influenced by the west, sooner or later it's going to be unwatchable, I will never accept it. Adi?s. |
Can we NOT have this sort of conversation every time I see politics get brought up concerning toku or media? Like I get not wanting hamfisted political messages, and the "everything is political" defense is weak, but it doesn't warrant that sort of reaction.
Though if you type out "I gonna regret this" and type out a multi paragraph post, chances are you SHOULDN'T write it, because it feels like you're only doing it to try and get a rise out of some people. |

Yeah, but they way it was worded makes it seem like a virtue signal. People hate virtue signalling, just don't say anything, let the show speak for itself Quote:

Like I agree with you on hamfisted virtue signaling and not wanting it in your entertainment. But what I disagree with is the reaction to it, not that you can't express your opinion. And in my opinion, what they're doing in Donbrothers isn't all that bad. |

Can you cite examples of progressive media that are universally liked? I'm curious to see what kind of answers people will come up with. I think there's a good chance I can think of more examples of go woke go broke that blew up in the faces of these out of touch executives like Kathleen Kennedy that clearly don't know what the fans want. |
Yeah I just looked at the article to see what exactly what it says and it really shouldn't be provoking such strong emotions against it unless you're internet poisoned. Can we not try to have a conversation that could get members suspended or worse?

Universally liked is an impossible metric. Nothing is universally liked, progressive or otherwise.
Except maybe Pokemon. |

That hamfisted show is bad but my hamfisted political show is good. *Blows giant raspberry* |
You know, Shirakura? Between this and saying you'd like Toku to be more widely available in the west, you're alright in my books.

I said to myself back when Gokaigers came out. That from there on out. They should have every future team able to transform into any of the previous squads. Glad to see it in this one.
Or is this still tied into Zenkaiger or something? |
I think it's still tied to Zenkaiger, especially considering it's the Sentai Gears being turned into the Avataro Gears that let them become previous Sentai rangers.
|
So, with the recent monster being Lupinranger themed and a thief, and the previous being ToQger themed and tied to a woman de-aging herself, will all the monsters' human hosts have a thematic tie to their Sentai?
|
Well seeing as they haven’t introduced another method to acquire the remaining 43 Avataro Gears…

I thought for sure the character was going to become a straight up child. Definitely picked up on the ToQger reference.
Also excellent casting there, the actresses that played the various stages of the woman were very convincing. |

Is kijibrother really cool with the skirt? Upon noticing that he has a skirt he wonders if the outfit is for girls. He wanted to change because he sees inubrother whooping butt with the sword and when he transforms he is happy to get the sword and then he notices the skirt and is he embarrassed or surprised or is he thinking something else? Then he appears ok with the ryusoul change as a package of sword, costume, and change of body as he's whacking anoni butt and evading their attacks skillfully as well as smoothly unlike the awkward and choppy looking fighting he's used to. Kijibrother might not care about the color pink or associate the color with females, but definitely thinks a skirt is for girls. Shame on you kijibrother! Let's see what his reaction (or no reaction of thought about the skirt) will be the next time he avatar changes and he's got a skirt on again. Will Kijibrother be the progressive champion that makes boys in Japan wanting to wear pink as well as skirts proudly? |

It would definitely be a great victory for breaking stereotypes if this increases the number of pink-wearing crossdressing straight Japanese men who want to emulate Kijino, to an extent that Decade, EX-Aid, Slash and Revi haven't been able to reach. |
Though, I wonder about the Alters. The Alters revealed so far are
ToQger Alter: Based upon the Red Ressha Zyuohger Alter: Based upon Cube Eagle, Cube Shark, and Cube Lion Lupinranger Alter: A sort of cross between the Red Dial Fighter and the Blade Dial Fighter Patranger Alter: A cross between the Scissors Dial Fighter, the Trigger Machine 1gou, and the Blast Buggy from Dekaranger. So far, the Avataro Gear Alters that have been revealed, however their Alters haven't been revealed, are Kyuranger and Kiramager. The Avataro Gear Alters that are in the Donblaster, yet haven't shown up in either toy form or in the show are Gorenger, Gokaiger, Go-Busters, Kyoryuger, Ninninger, Ryusoulger, and Zenkaiger, along with a "Special Alter" announcement. I wonder what the rest of the Alters will be. |
I think the thing behind the Alters is that the Don Momotaro Alter is interacting with the actual gimmick/transformation device.
So for Kyuranger I think it will transform using the Kyutama. But no idea about sentai without a collectible. |
Well, considering the other motif is the mecha, I think that the Red Buster Alter will be primarily based on CB-01

Gorenger Alter will likely be based upon the Variblune.
Kyoryuger Alter will likely be based upon Gabutyra. Gokaiger Alter will likely be similar to the Cross Armor Gokaiger Forms. Ryusoulger Alter will likely be based upon Tyramigo Overall, I feel like they will be similar to the Greater Powers from Gokaiger. Hypothetically, Gaoranger Alter would likely be GaoLion, Patranger Alter would likely be Dekamachine Patstriker, and Magiranger Alter would likely be Magidragon, to name a few. |
