Super Megaforce Extended Episode - The Legendary Battle - Poll and Discussion
It's longer! It had new stuff! Rate it! Discuss it!

Any clips on YT?
Edit - Nevermind. |
So, I haven't watched Super Megaforce since episode 1. I didn't watch the 1st airing of this episode. So I saw this....
And I liked it. Yes, the New Powers stuff is still stupid, but most of the cameos gave me more feels than I expected to get from it. Even Tommy. But holy crap that Karone moment. I was bummed we got no Kendrix explanation, but that moment made me squee in front of my TV. |
I won't lie - I voted Legendary. This is what a finale should be. It almost feels like Saban saw the final product, agreed that it was less than worthy of being a finale, and went back and added things to really flesh it out.
This doesn't redeem Super Megaforce to me for what it could (and maybe should) have been versus what we got. But this does take some of the bitter taste out of my mouth. |
Voted super mega because this was WAY better then the original ending. The added scenes helped it out a lot.
|
I really loved that Karona throw back moment, that was honestly a nice touch they didn't had to add.
|
I really enjoyed the Mavro extended scene and seeing red ranger with dragon shield. I wish there was some more footage of the legendary battle itself. I kept seeing a picture of Tommy giving Mile (samurai green) his shield on the Internet before the episode aired, but that never happened. I would have loved to see the older Rangers show up earlier when they were fighting the general or have a scene where they fight some xborgs and then morph.
But over all pretty cool, looking forward to Dino Charge |
THIS is how the rest of the season should have been done. We got the final Mavro fight. Armored MMPR Red. An Astronema reference. And I can die happy knowing that there was at least ONE Lightspeed Rescue Legendary Morph.
I hate myself for saying this, but that was a super mega win. |
I am totally confused about the bit with Karone. Why would they show her as a villain as a seemingly positive thing?? The nod's cool, but based on the short line given in the news article (yeah I forgot to watch this myself...), how it was done doesn't make sense to me.
|
It's something of an improvement, but not nearly enough to redeem the show itself. It serves as a much better, albeit hastily slapped together, end to the series than the original airing version.
But seriously they threw this together out of footage they already had and some newly recorded ADR just in the last 2 weeks. Yet They hadn't finalized the original airing version in post until earlier this summer? How does that even happen? |
The final battle with Mavro was nice, but it's still disappointing that they claimed they were going to use "Every Legendary Ranger" but it was really "every Legendary Ranger that didn't appear alongside a Sentai not named Dairanger". Time Force, RPM and Wild Force were all missing... Haha at "Magi Bolt" getting through the writers too. Also none of those were Battleizers, unlike what they said.
But it's still an improvement. Not a ginormous one, but still an improvement. Mavro should've come down AFTER the Legendary Battle though, not before. Quote:
EDIT: Here it is: http://youtu.be/qbJnm0CelF8 |
The Extended episode was 100% better. I hope the extended ep is on the Vol 5 super megaforce dvd.
|
I am guessing either it was another branch of SPD, like earlier team, or they time traveled again to fight. Or the morphing grid created physical embodiments to fight along side.

Fair warning: have seen only pieces of the full extension, but I did see this part. I believe it was a nod to her being a former villain and how being a Ranger is far better than that. And to be honest, when you talk about Karone, you're going to mention Astronema sooner or later. The fact they did it is clearly one of the highlights of the extension itself and shows that Saban and Co. do have intelligence. |
Grimlock says all that needs to be said about this "Better, but still not more better enough."

Loved it! It was a fine cap to a season that i have enjoyed very much. I have no plans to follow Dino Charge. I think I'm going to bow out of watching PR for a while. Gokaiger got me back into Power Rangers and this is a great way to go out seeing it realized from Sentai into PR.
|
Really really still hate that saban only used Cameos from Saban made power rangers. They didn't bother even getting a disney actor. The only one that had a cameo was Jungle Fury Red, luckily he had speaking lines too.
|
So I watched the extended edition of the Legendary War episode and uh... yeaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaah... I've got nothing. Two years worth of hype for nothing. Hell, what happened to Gosei? He just disappeared. Not even a congratulations to the rangers for winning. BTW, what was the point of having American fight scenes using Japanese only rangers rather than actual Power Rangers outside of the MM Red Ranger? That was just... nevermind, I am just going to leave it here. Bye.
|
I think this was a much better finale, and I loved the original finale but this felt a lot better especially with the fight with the Emperor.
|
I know it is Gokaiger footage but the battle with the Emperor truly did help.

So interesting development discovered by trekkieb47.
As you may (or may not) know, the writers from Power Rangers Megaforce had written a lot of Super Megaforce scripts and story line that were eventually scrapped as the former crew from Power Rangers Samurai was brought back to re-write the season. trekkieb47 contacted one of the original Super Megaforce writers regarding the usage of "new powers" and whether or not that was intended in the beginning. While he wasn't super forthcoming in his answer, he did make it a point to state that he had nothing to do with "new powers", and that was something that we would need to ask JS and JT about as they were the ones who came up with most of the story. When asked if JS meant Jason Smith (aka Casey from Jungle Fury) and JT meant Jonathon Tzachor (the executive producer), the writer stated he had already said too much and that we should direct our questions towards the appropriate powers that be. |
So basically the New Powers really were "Powers that are New."
Eghhhh..... |

Extended Finale = the shit Nick should've shown on the actual broadcast
But this finale still didn't save the inconsistent mess of the entire Megaforce/Super Megaforce plotline, the organization of that plot was beyond saving by the time of the finale |
