I would love to acquire a Deluxe Optimus Prime Armada figure if anyone has a lead. I'm surprised to see how much the old toy goes for these days.
Or maybe even just a source for his two smokestack accessories, most listings seem to have lost those! |

Sorry! |
It's chill, dw, these things happen!
In other news, is anyone watching Earthspark? I've been hearing a lot of buzz about it, but haven't seen much beyond just "It's good". |

can someone help me identify this transformer
edit: it was brainstorm |
I bought the Trans Formers live movies yesterday that are before Bumblebee. 5 pack set
|
So I heard Pete Davidson's gonna be Mirage in the upcoming movie. And immediately I thought "Maybe they are gonna make him a entitled and whiny snob who misses his days of just enjoying the good life. This could work." and then remembered they killed Cliffjumper and became sad I won't see those two argue and fight with each other.

Trans Formers 7 Rise Of The Beasts , Trans Formers 8 and Trans Formers 9 will adapt Trans Formers Beast Wars.
The 1st 5 were Generation 1. Makes me wonder if we might get a live jump for Trans Formers Prime soon after they finish Beast Wars. On another note with Rise Of The Beasts out next year I'm watching the previous 6 movies including Bumblebee. Also will be on Series II of the 1985 series. |

B) as amusing as it is to my differently-gendered self, who spells it as trans formers? When has there even been a space there? |
Quote:
Some variations of the G1 logo do split it across 2 lines, but I think that's a stylistic thing, given all of the legal and commercial stuff spells it as one word "Transformers" |

Also I sorry if my last post sounded too aggressive. Looking at it now I might have been a bit forceful. |

Talking about being tempted - I kind of want to get on the Deathsaurus-train. But with Hasbro I'm reluctant to spend this much money when one QC-error could ruin the whole thing for me. I'm largely out of the Transformers-game anyhow. Last things I bought were Siege figures. Although I have pre-ordered Tarn because that figure looks perfect, and is a cool one-off to get IMO. |
I would have been interested in Star Saber and Deathsaurus but the prices were exorbitant and they expect you to come up with that much spare cash within a couple months at the christmas period?? Bit much. If they were normal Leader or maybe Commander releases I'd be much more interested.
As-is I'm really considering the Legacy TM2 Megatron. That thing looks so good |
Tarn looks amazing.
I almost pulled the trigger on Star Saber, but after seeing some reviews of it, I'm truly glad I did not. It's kind of crazy how much can go wrong with a transformer that you can't really predict. |
Just thought this was funny.
Leaks of the new Armada Optimus Prime were found and I noticed something in the background. https://news.tfw2005.com/wp-content/...02/OP_010.jpeg It's Geats! I wonder what the story is behind these leaks. |

I also wonder how far they'll take this. Powerlink redeco? Combinable partner like Armada Jetfire (and the obligatory redeco into the infamous Spacewarp)? Armada Overload (and the fail-at-everything Sentinel Maximus)? The two issues I have with this line is how it's not taking advantage of characters who never got the figure treatment (though exceptions like G2 Jihaxus exist), and also how this line like so many before it are predicated on nostalgia rather than trying something new and different. Beast Wars worked cause it was so different from what came before while simultaneously referencing its origins. |
I feel Legacy is fixing a lot of issues previous lines have made. While it does ride on nostalgia, it's not using it as a crutch. G1 will always dominate the generations line, regardless of how much it's rebranded, but they're making changes.
The line launched with Skids and Kickback, of all characters. The Optimus that's going to market is G2's Laser Prime. BW is getting more of it's cast filled, and we're getting characters that haven't had any toy representation like Jhiaxus and Tarn. The Junkions are getting a much needed expansion in character variety, and later year characters like Needlenose, Skyquake (We're getting the Prime version, but it's kind of clear we'll also get the G1 version), and the Pretenders beyond just Bludgeon are getting attention. It's more G1 love, yeah, but they're finally doing something for characters beyond 1986. |

Seriously I do like how they attempt at updating them. |
Well, Hasbro and an entertainment division known as SEVEN in Saudi Arabia are developing an immersive experience attraction.
https://news.tfw2005.com/2023/05/11/...-center-482815 https://www.seibertron.com/transform...actions/47690/ This is already drawing some criticisms and I don't quite know how to feel about it. It leaves me with a bitter taste for obvious reasons. I doubt Hasbro would respond to any fandom reaction unless it's big enough, which it won't be. I also know that not everyone in that Kingdom is guilty of State-Sanctioned violations. Ultimately, what happens in the States or elsewhere won't have an impact. In addition, there are always business deals of this nature everyday. As stated in at least one of the included articles, a Play D'oh attraction of sorts already occurred. I still feel an uneasy numbness. Optimus Prime: "Freedom Is The Right Of ALL Sentient Beings." I'm not the first to think of that motto when responding to this "development". Whether directly or not, this also connects to Power Rangers. |
It's funny how years later after this skit was aired Pete Davidson and Peter Dinklage went on to co-star in Rise Of The Beasts as Mirage and Scourge. :lolol

The new transformers movie got mixed reviews. I hear it's better than the five Michael Bay films, but that's not a hard feat to do.

I have no idea why this is the characterization that stuck to this character specifically. I want the stuffy speeches leader who's a bit of an airhead sometimes back. At least they did good with Optimus Primal from what I've gathered. But it’s the first Transformers movie I want to watch since – a long time ago, so that’s something. Will probably watch it once it hits streaming services. |
I'm watching all 6 movies before I see Rise Of The Beasts as a full series and
as a refresher btw. First time to see them together. It'll be interesting to see the full story start to finish up to The Last Knight. Will see Rise Of The Beasts at a later date. |
They actually did a decent job with Optimus. He's an asshole, but it's intentionally presented that we, as the audience, are supposed to be against him.
I enjoyed it. While I prefer Bumblebee for the more grounded setting, I actually quite liked the dynamic between Noah and Mirage. Probably my favorite human-bot duo in the franchise (Even beating out Charlie and Bee). |
They group released the 5 movies pre Bblebee
I got Bumblebee on it's own. I watched a few minutes of Beast Wars on You Tube to get a basic feel for Rise Of The Beasts which I plan to get on disk later. Given the series is in 2326 it's weird they set the story in the 1990s on the big screen. I wonder if Trans Formers 9 will set up the first movie if the next two move the story forward a few years. Megatron was revived in the first movie so it would have to be before then. Unless we're getting an alternate timeline stunt per usual. |
ROTB didn't give me a great big "WOW" feeling.
Bumblebee was good cause outside of the battles on Cybertron which were largely just a G1 love-letter in terms of Cybertronian designs, it was a smaller cast and predicated on relationships and added a sorely needed human element that had been missing from the sequels. ROTB was a "return to form" in terms of the live-action continuity. I'll admit that I missed the very beginning just before the title card and 1994 setting establishment, so this is just an analysis of what I did catch. It had more characters and less focus on those "characters". In many ways, the Maximals were just window dressing without much development. I wasn't all that invested in the Unicron aspect and Scourge comes across as "generic bad guy doing generic bad guy things for generic bad guy boss". Noah and Mirage had a decent relationship, but Noah didn't move me like Charlie did. Not the first time Pearlman has done a version of Primal, and while he did a respectable job, it would've been more appropriate to have Chalk do it. Seriously, they could've gotten one of the BW actors even if it's only for a cameo! The spoiler towards the end did throw me for a small loop, but I'm not that surprised given the Image Comics/Skybound release of "Void Rivals". I would give ROTB a 7 cause I didn't hate it, I just wasn't as thrilled as I wanted to be. Not surprisingly, but the brother was wearing a MMPR shirt which looked appropriate for the '94 setting. |
I really enjoyed RotB. Cheetor and Rhinox were disappointing underutilized, but aside from that I thought it did a fantastic job blending the style of the Bumblebee movie with the Bay movies. The Reboot or Prequel question remains frustratingly unanswered, with hints that could be interpreted either way, but that's understandable for the sake of To Sell Toys. The kids for whom the Bay movies were their first exposure to the Transformers are at the point in the nostalgia cycle where they're becoming a prime target market, and Hasbro wouldn't want to push them away. As for what the whole deal was with the Maximals and Terrorcons, there were definitely some hints scattered throughout, and Caple has suggested in interviews that he wanted to go more in depth but was veto'd by higher ups. Hopefully if he is back for a sequel, he'll be able to expand on his ideas

Watching Revenge Of The Fallen.
When there's a price drop on disk I plan to see the new movie. Not at 20 bucks plus tax so I'll wait. |
The long-beloved, ultra-expensive Transformers Generations Guidebook is supposed to get a reissue sometime this year, but will it be available in English Stateside or kept merely at outrageous import prices?

Currently watching
Trans Formers G I Series II Also movie 2 - 6 on the big screen as Inown them on DVD. As for GI - I like it so far. I may rewatch Headmasters - Victory to see the full G1 story. |
Exactly what technical trickery is needed to take a professional stock photo with no shadows or background save for blank space like the ones Hasbro has done for years with various Transformers figures?

Does anybody here own any of the Diaclone reboot figures? I've thought about picking up a couple but I'm not sure which ones. Really, I'd like a Battle Convoy, maybe one other full-sized mech, and then a few smaller ones? The Battle Buffalo is looking pretty nice too, though...

The Authentics "Bravo" Optimus Primal is appearing at Five-Below for only $5!

Why was Vector Prime's name maintained as such in Galaxy Force when Big Bosses follow the Takara-Tomy trend of Convoy?
