Kamen Rider Gaim - Summer Movie - Poll and Discussion
1 Attachment(s)
The movie is up!
www.tvnihon.com (a couple errors in translation/grammar) Can Kouta defeat the evil that is Kougane? http://www.tokunation.com/attachment...1&d=1421104803 |
Loved it.
Especially.... Banana Gaim, Durian Gaim, Donguri Gaim The 10 minute long Kurokage troopers vs. the Army battle was crazy - the number of stunts and special effects blew me away. For being a lower budget movie (compared to what we're used to in USA with Hollywood) I was really happy with what I saw. 5/5 easily. |
This is the best news all day!
(Now, if only they'll put up last week's Drive. I mean the one before that.) |
It was fun to see nice guy Kaito, great to see Ryoji again. The final battle almost felt like the big battle of the Hibiki Summer movie where all the onis gather to kick butt.
|
This movie blew my mind straight to kingdom come! I especially liked that kougane is basically a evil spirit that can control grasshoppers. I wish that kamen rider kamuro got to fight more though but I digress
|
I'll wait for the Aesir subs.
At least. I'm still ambivalent about seeing this. |
Where's Sid?

I thought it was alright. I'm glad I saw it but I think i may have over hyped it in my mind waiting for it. I did feel like aside from Gaim and Lapis, everyone else was just there to be fodder. They really don;t do much until the end and that was disappointing to me.
|
Haven't finished it yet, but I noticed a little cost cut. When Gaim switches to Donguri Arms, he's already wearing the Donguri helmet before the armor actually lands on his body.

The film was okay by me, but I did notice a few plot errors:
-Where Peko got a Genesis Driver and Energy Lockseed? Never explained -Where Lapis got a Sengoku Driver from? Never explained -Where Where Kaito got Ryouma's Belt and Lock from? Never explained -Where Oren got a bunch of Suika Armors from? Never explained Another thing is that the only real focus is on Kouta and Lapis, which the other characters just being there as Lapis and Kougane's pawns. Oren is still entertaining as heck, and it was nice to see Yuuya, Hase, and Sid back one last time was nice. The new designs were mixed... Mars looks great, Kamuro and Gaim Yami were pretty good, and Kurokage Shin was a waste of space. It should have been a new rider using Mango Arms or something. The climax was a bit fast, but still decent. Being longer could have helped. Overall, I liked it, but it's not perfect. |
It's a "gaiden" story, but still in the continuity of the show (and its epilogue) at the same time, that's weird but, hey, Kamen Rider movies (I recently watched Kabuto's one and it was a gaiden/prequel of sort).
I can't remember when this movie is supposed to be watched in regard to the serie, episodes 38-39 ? |

it's after the episode where the melons clash. |
This was pretty good, although not perfect. As mentioned by some other people it has good fight scenes but kind of skips over how everyone gets their new powers. There are possible solutions, it just would have been nice to at least get a line explaining things like Charmant's Suika army or Peko's belt/lock. One complaint I have is Kamuro; Lapis was pretty cool but he transformed incredibly briefly and then proceeded to turn into a football. What was even the point?
|
Well good thing Kamuro was at least made up of reused parts from other suits.
|
Isn't Kamuro the most useless rider in the history of the franchise?!?

Kamuro wai U be so usless but haz epic cool looking reused armor?
Seriously wish he could fight more or something, also I didn't really enjoy the final fight scene seeing as how it was just a soccer match. |

Definitely pretty good.
I loved the army and Kurokage trooper fight. That was such an awesome sequence. My only real disappointment with the film is how utterly pointless the Kamuro suit was. It shows up for 10 seconds and then Lapis becomes a soccer ball of light... Preeeetty lame! |
Finally getting around to watching this.
And I cracked up laughing at the "take over the world with Soccer" line. :lol |
So finished the movie the other night, it was an alright film but a lot of this movie felt like throw away like it had too many things going on at once.
Like the Soccer thing for example, I really wish they could've explored this Alt Zawarme a little bit deeper. I didn't like the whole Oren VS Yggdrasail much myself either, I dunno I felt as though that whole scene dragged on longer than it should've. Also wished that Kamuro got a chance to shine instead of turning into a Soccer ball...again felt kinda wasted considering the recourses that must've went into making a new suit. |
This movie was directed by Osamu Kaneda, who seems to love to get new suits, just to have them use one attack and disappear (Super Climax in Chou Den-O, Tamashii in Let's Go Kamen Riders, Gokaiger as OOO in Super Hero Taisen, Gokaiger as Metal Heroes in SHTZ). So, Kamuro's sad fate likely was due to that.
I thought it was a pretty mediocre movie overall. It had some interesting concepts, but did little with them and Kougane was a really generic villain who also seemed fairly underwhelming in the final battle, with his later forms all having fairly unimpressive battles. Personally, I'd easily take Kamen Rider Taisen over it. |
I enjoyed it, minus the translation issues. Best part was seeing Gaim in all the other arms that he usually never gets to use. And also Micchy when he realized he wasn't in the right world. That was funny.

Small notice: If you're waiting for Over-Time to sub this, it isn't happening :(

So uh yeah, I finally watched this today after forgetting it happened for god knows how long.
It was a weird experience. Enjoyable and interesting even if it felt rather rushed and inconsequential. Sure Kougane appeared in the show but there wasn't much here you needed to know to grasp what was going on there. As expected the football elements were hilariously shoehorned in (the opening match was neat, but the final battle was just too much). Kamuro and Kurokage Shin are barely worth even mentioning, while Black Jimber Arms was exactly what you'd expect an "evil Kouta" to be. It did some nice non-football battles though - the army/Yggdrasil battle and Kiwami vs Mars horseback bit especially spring to mind. So yeah. Gaim's summer movie sure was a thing. |
