Kuuga Blu-Ray
|
Welly well well
|
I am very happy that they gave us the option of turning the Grongi speech on or off. Here's to hoping they include the Super Secret Video in the bundle as well.

Pre-orders are now live. Looks like the set only includes all 49 episodes. But it's hard to complain too much. |
I'm definitely glad I decided to watch Kuuga in its entirety just last year on which I really liked especially since this is the first Kamen Rider series I've watched all the way through. I'm might find myself putting in that particular Blu-Ray set on my Christmas list for this year. Not sure about the Fiveman DVD series set though.

Also worth mentioning is that this will be the first time the original master will be available in the US. Meaning native 1080 and not upscaled from the 480 broadcast version.
|
Cool. It doesn't really change anything for me, but I'm happy for the American fans.
In general, recently Kuuga is often remembered quite often. Is it possible that Toei finally agreed with Joe Odagiri and they will do a small nostalgic-advertising special? |

Yes.
I don't think there's anything else I need say. I'm happy more Kamen Rider is coming over here, and one I've been wanting to see for a while now. Now to wait for the 1971 Kamen Rider. |
This would be a good buy.
|
I was hoping for a Showa title, but Kuuga is great though. I hope we don't have a long wait between these titles anymore.

There’s also a matter of Ryuki getting its own physical release in the US.
|
I just hope the next ones have covers that look better than this
|
Just had a thought: I wonder if SHOUT is gonna fix the one mistranslation they made when the Kuuga blu-ray releases?
|
Nice! Hopefully we get 1971 and Ryuki down the line too.
|
The 1971 show is 98 episodes. They will either release it in two parts or in one big set. It won't afforable to have all 98 episodes on Blu-ray.

Unfortunately this is going to more than likely be region locked like the Zero One Blu-Ray set, with no Region B distributor in sight. I wonder if this is due to Shout Factory, or due to Toei's licensing terms? The Ultraman Blu-Rays from Mill Creek work just fine in other regions. Still great for fans in NA and other Region A countries.
They could release the 1971 series in SD on Blu-Ray, in order to keep the number of discs down and keep it affordable. Maybe they could then release a separate HD release, perhaps as some sort of a collector's edition? It would be cool if they could also include the movies as well, but maybe that's asking a bit too much. :p Maybe release a separate set of the Showa movies? |

It does suck that Europe gets not much toku wise. I did ask Arrow on Facebook via DM before if they would release any Kamen Rider stuff due to thier good connections with Toei. They were like "If enough people want it, anything is possible".
