Figuarts Heisei Riders Rising Project Announced
Looks like Tamashii Nations and Figuarts are going to be celebrating the Heisei Era with what they seem to be calling the Heisei Riders Rising Project.
Apparently we'll be seeing some announcements...and most people are assuming an extremely obvious one will be one of them. https://twitter.com/t_features/statu...84772065095682 https://pbs.twimg.com/media/DjowHQXU0AEBmal.jpg:large |
I love how OOOs is hidden all the way in teh back to try & cover up how terrible that mold is.
|
Maybe people can FINALLY shut up about Kiva now.
|
D'you think they're aware that we can count...?
...actually, I can't help but notice that all the Shinkocchou Seihou figures except Wizard are at the back with Fourze, OOO, and Ghost. I can't imagine that's entirely coincidental. (On the one hand, it seems far-fetched that they'd consider remaking Ghost this soon, but it was a poorly-received figure...) |
A Kiva announcement would be fitting. Wataru did kick off Decade, so the figure kicking off the celebrations for Zi-O on this toy side would make sense.
|
Yup, I think they will complete the Heisei Riders with ZI-O and Kiva.
I wonder what else could come out of this. |
If they -do- remake OOO, I'll be extremely excited for that
|
My, how kind of them.
*lets Kivat Bat II bite and becomes Dark Kiva* Now hand over our figuarts Kiva. |
Honestly if they just re-release some of the more popular SHFs of the mains (hopefully Kabuto, Ex-Aid, and Hibiki) and do a new SS or two (gimme my boy Faiz Bandai) I'd be perfectly happy.
|
I'd bet on re-issues too, likely ones that were released a few years ago and hence aren't in circulation at the moment like Gaim, Decade and Blade.
|
If they're revealing 3 new Heisei releases then Zi-O and Kiva may as well be locked.
The 3rd I'm betting will be either Faiz or OOO. Of the 3 still outdated riders, Fourze still holds up the best and has the modular gimmick still going for him with the Astro Switch sets. Faiz and OOO don't have any modular gimmicks attached to them making it easier to update since the collector base doesn't have the excuse of "Well OG Fourze has all the switch sets to go with him while SS Fourze has only Rocket and Drill." |
Someone in a Discord server said "I don't see Kiva." I said "because he's literally the only rider whoa base form never got a Figuarts release." Lol

Apparently it has cheap plastic, horrible ankle joints, all combined with the weird proportion issues that the Figuarts line had prior to Gaim. |

I would recollect the whole OOO line again if they redid them. I really disliked the head sculpt for TaToBa, the limited ankle and wrist joints and those awkward splayed open hands. I would've loved more aggressive 'claw' hands that he usually poses with.
|
Okay, so, small aside as a huge OOO fan who likes toys and isn't too deep into KR collecting yet: does this mean I'd more or less get more value out of OCC than Figuarts for OOO at the moment? (sticking to the more affordable OCC releases on the aftermarket, of course)

I'll concur on the quality control nightmare that is Figuarts OOO. I bought it on the aftermarket since it was relatively inexpensive, and my expectations were low. The first time I gently moved the knee joint, it snapped in half. I'd recommend waiting and purchasing the Shinkocchou Seihou. I'd be surprised if we didn't see him this year.
|
Shame. If the Figuarts really is that bad, I guess I will just go for the Figurerise one. Not anything new to me since I already own a few Figurerise, I was just kind of avoiding it for OOO since I wasn't a huge fan of the stickers and expected to get a better figure out of the Figuarts one, guess not.
|
OOO figuart is not very good. Not to mention, his head looks so small compare to the other figuarts now. Next to Gaim and SS W, he looks like a cheap toy compare to them in my opinion.
|
I am thinking that is all about SS...giving the fact that Wizard is leading while the rest of the SS is at the back. I believe it's going to be Kiva since he is missing from the pic and the two at the far back, Fourze and OOO. About time! Give me Kiva, Dark Kiva, and Kiva Emperor...and Putotyra while you are it.

Give us friggin' Saga

It is my belief that this has to do with Shincoccho Seihou as Wizard is at the front being the last Shincoccho Seihou to be released this year as of now (November). To those that count Zi-O...it's too early for Zi-O S.H.Figuarts, when was Build released? 5 months ago! You need to wait for about a year for Zi-O figure release. Besides, Zi-O being an anniversary series means, there will be almost nothing from Zi-O itself except his default an final form and of course Gates. That's like nothing. |
Ryuki and Blade still hold up just fine to me. I do think Faiz and OOO needs a SS treatment next in my opinion.

Given that the second one is between August and October, it fits the bill. Tamashii Nations is their biggest event, so that's where they will show Kiva. So in my opinion, this is how it will go: First, late August, a new Seihou reveal (Either Faiz or OOO), then in September, a first look at ZI-O and finally, the big one: The missing Heisei Rider, Kiva, at their big convention in October. Also, ZI-O has unique forms unlike Decade, they can make all of those if they wanted to. Quote:
Ryuki is on the top of the list though, alongside Faiz and OOO. |
I'm thinking 1 new release, 1 Seihou, 1 reissue.
*Zi-O and/or Geiz is a pretty safe bet; we saw Build's Figuart not long after the show began so I think that could happen again. *OOOs is LONG overdue for a Seihou reimagining & his series was very popular so there's definitely demand. *Finally, to tie into this anniversary thing I'm thinking Decade might get a re-release to hype things up. |

Figuarts has generally just not been doing a lot of those individual forms recently. Ghost got a single Damashii form released, Gaim saw only Pine Gaim and Mango Baron as exclusives, and Build hasn't had a single Best Match beyond Rabbit/Tank released. Even actual upgrade forms have seen a decline as Mugen never showed up, and despite the Genm recolour being released; we bizarrely never saw Mighty Maximum X materialise even though Hyper Muteki has been announced for quite a while. Talking of Ex-Aid though, it seems to be the bizarre exception since they released a -lot- of Level 3 forms and they seemed to be all hecking over Drago Knight Hunter Z. So... maybe? I just don't see it as likely, especially when it seems from this announcement alone that Figuarts are putting a heavy emphasis on actual past riders. Also, yeah, I could totally see Gates being revealed alongside Zi-O. They've featured in just about every piece of promotional material alongside Zi-O so far and seems to be a pretty easy remold. |

If there is one SS I'm interested in, it's Faiz.
I still don't have any Faiz figure since I skipped the Figure Rise since it's soooo out of scale with Figuarts, and the first figuarts was...heh...not that good. |

He is fine on his own but when you put him with Gaim and the others that came after him...he looks out of place. |

Hu no, I'll have to agree with Kami. He looks small, and it's not because of Kiwami's helmet there...
|
It feels strange how Ryuki and Blade are now view as not so great figuarts anymore. I remember when I first join, people consider them to be top tier figuarts.

Those two lines along with Den-O are the least in need of the SS treatment of all the OG Rider lines. I'd actually be fine if they left those lines alone for now and focused on rounding out some Showa, secondary and tertiary Riders instead. |
Just release the damn Diend Seihou already. That and Nasca Dopant are the only revealed Seihou figures that don't have a set release date.
