Haruka's aunt is kidnapped by the Noto, so they can force the Donbrothers to hunt down the Juto.

The Hitosuki being such an afterthought is usually something I find funny, but this episode was the first time I got pretty annoyed with it. I was really into the episode before the obligatory mecha advert brought everything to a screeching halt!
The scene where Sononi talks to Tsubasa is maybe the funniest scene for me because it feels like its poking fun at the fact that this guy's been part of a completely different show this whole time. ...But it looks like not anymore!? I'm really really hoping for an epic, heated, emotional battle next week or the week after between a cartoon dog and elongated bird. Like I'll be so disappointed if its not hard cuts between cg models clashing, and closeups of a guy wrestling with a shaking puppet. |
When the crane's are away the cats will play.
The moment has come! Tsuyoshi's beloved Miho is on the hitlist. Heck, the fact that there's a hitlist in the first place is already enough. But even more bizarre is the fact that actual humans are hostages, meaning they can't be killed willy-nilly. Have to agree that the Mech fight was just shoehorned in, even though I liked the bit with Don Dragoku like "hey guys! I beat the monster!" with Tarou giving him a score and the monster appears. But everything else was good. I don't want to be abducted by a bunch of hot dames spoiling me while strapped to a chair. Just rubs me the wrong way. But nice to know the Anoni aren't all bad, even if they only lasted for 10 minutes. Next Episode: "Which of us is the better CG Ranger and boyfriend/husband!" |
The story picks back up, but it feels like it lost a lot of fans interest during the filler drought. The last time old toku writers manage to write a seriallong lasting sentai was boukenger and mainly gekiranger. Inoue seems to be playing around more than usual despite being fast pace early on. The endgame ending will either be really cliche or ridiculously subverting fans expectations. People worries if there’s no trademark soon, there’s is a possibility sentai will go on hiatus given all the budget cuts over the years.

I predicted that Hanamura was a Jyuto, but it was actually his "Mama", Hanamura Shizuka. Could she be the mysterious penguin? Although, that would imply that Kitou's ex-bf Hanamura must be either a Jyuto or a human-Jyuto hybrid, which means I'm probably at least half correct. I'm going with the latter, since the Noto apparently aren't concerned with him and presumably any other half-Jyutos.
Not surprising that the polite Anoni would rather send the hit-list than try and directly sell Kijino on the idea of uxoricide, geez. What is surprising is how the Donbrothers have virtually no relatives at all. Like, there's Yuriko and Miho who are actively involved in their lives, but Jin's locked up in Noto jail, Natsumi's locked up in Jyuto jail, Jirou left his family behind in the country and we know basically nothing about Saruhara's family, which only adds to my curiosity about him. Where does a novelty like Saruhara come from? Speaking of NatsuMiho, we now have confirmation that they're not the same person, same goes for Sayama and "Sayama". Although they seem to copy certain personality traits, like how "Sayama" continues to relentlessly pursue Inuzuka despite being retired and how Kijino's description of Miho matched Inuzuka's description of Natsumi in Episode 8. The Noto seem to be unaware that killing a Jyuto also kills their template, otherwise I doubt Sononi would've involved Inuzuka since she'd be using him to kill Miho and indirectly Natsumi. Fortunately, Miho tells Tarou about this, which is enough to convince him to back out of the deal with the Noto, albeit without explaining his reason, naturally. Unfortunately, Sonoi's dead, so there's nobody left to mediate between them or hear out the other side. Donbrothers and Noto are probably going to be enemies again for a while. Enjoying captivity seems to be a weird inherent trait in the Kitou family, with even the detective Yuriko showing no resistance to her situation and only focusing on the expensive food and massage, while Kitou worries about her and tries to get her back. Of course, it just happens that the family's abductors, Inuzuka, Sonoza and the Anoni, just happen to be reasonable people, unlike Machineki. I hope this doesn't send a bad message to yanderes. |
This episode was interesting. As mentioned by others, I find it interesting that the Anoni couldn't find any other close family members of the Donbrothers aside from Haruka's aunt. Although that could also be Inoue having fun with the "Heroes family members don't exist unless they're shown on screen" trope.
I also like how this new revalation with the Jyuto essentially loops the Donbrothers and the Noto back into the dynamic they had originally; The Noto have a serious problem in their world caused by some sort of monster in the human world. So they try to kill it, only for the Donbrothers to stand in the way in order to protect the humans involved. Quote:
