No it doesn't have the monster of the week unlike most of your usual toku. This is my first K-toku so I'm not sure how other K-toku differ from their Japanese one.

I'm not sure if xenophobia has anything to do with it. I've seen anime fans (a lot of them) don't bother to give tokusatsu a try. Also despite K-pop being popular in the US, it's pretty surprising...
