I think it'd be cool if it was some kind of brace that they inserted the ticket into, the internal component would be some kind of clip that had a satisfying "click" when inserted, but didn't...

Can't say I'm surprised. It's a niche audience and also it was rather expensive for one channel. Not to mention if they were selling the channel overseas there would have been a much harsher...

The easiest way to both have and not have batteries is to make a retractable zord builder plug come out from the mouths of the limb zords, and just paint (or most likely) cast them the correct color.
