S1 Ep3: The Unquiet Dead- 09/04/05

In Rose's first journey into the past, we meet Charles Dickens and blue refugees/aliens!

Plot
Dead people get posessed by blue ghosts and one of them visits a Charles Dickens performance. The Doctor and Rose show up, and we meet some undertakers. Hmm, one of them looks like someone from Torchwood-I'm sure that'll never show up. Anyway, Dickens gets his faith restored in the world and the group kick the aliens back to wherever they came from with gas and a match. It's like Die Hard, but in 1869. Then we get to know Dickens dies in a year! Not depressing at all! Anyway, it's a lacklustre plot, with not much drive. I can sit through it, but I'd still rather watch Rose out of the first 3. 4/10

Characters
Rose gets a bit of development, finding out she can die and being shaken up. The Doctor does some stuff, but not much. Charles Dickens is good, and he is played well by the actor. It's convincing and good. Gwenyth is good and her clairvoyancy is portrayed well, with her not just using it whenever she pleases. 6/10

Scare Factor
The zombies are sorta scary, and they are kinda deadly. 7/10

Overall
Mark Gatis's first episode is a dissapointment considering the first two. If your friend offers you a choice between this and Operation Overdrive, pick OO. Actually, it's not that bad. 5/10
