Oh wow didn't know it was Takara! Interesting enough...they also made Samurai Troopers Yoroiden toys which Playmates brought over a year after Cyber Squad as Ronin Warriors!

I remember the Samurai Trooper toy line was kinda weird. Rather than fully posable figures they are some weird spring joint gimmick make the characters look really bloated. The only one I had from that toyline was the power up Ryo.

Btw theres another toy line made by Takara in a similar vain at the time but with smaller toys callled Kikou Keisatsu (Armoured Police) Metal Jack with humanoid figures that combine with vehicles/animals/robots to become robots.

Note how Red Jack Armour's face looks kinda like Gridman's. Especially in the box art.
