They've been in the main universe since "A Good Man Goes to War" (or potentially "The Pandorica Opens" I guess). Just nobody could be bothered to redesign them until now. Gaiman specifically put the two different versions in to suggest that the two types kinda merged into one. They way they play it just seems to be like there aren't Mondasian Cybermen or even Cybus Cybermen. There's just cybermen that are so far gone they aren't even a product of their own origin any more.

So, Nightmare in Silver. It was....iffy. The Cybermites were pretty neat, and it was nice to see a Cyberplanner again. Only this one was much more interesting than weird tubey thing in "The Invasion". It was interesting to see the Doctor play off of himself for once.

But liking the new look, I thought the new Cybermen were pretty awful. Between the phasing style movement, the horrid new voice and the ability to pick random body parts off of themselves at will I seriously wasn't impressed. The episode also reminded me how much I hate puppet Cybermen too. Millions of Cybermen and all they were here were fancy henchmen.

This was certainly one of the better episodes of the half-season but I think Gatiss' offerings were superior. I expected more from Gaiman doing a Cybermen story than an evil Doctor and an amusement park. Oh and Locke hit the nail on the head about the ending. It did seem pretty out of place.

Can't wait to be disappointed by next week's!
