I think it was meant to evoke the show--there's a little of that with each of the Riders.

Each Triangle + Circle, counts as a button press. Hit it once and it does "ONE," again for "TWO," again for "THREE" and then the last press freezes everything for a split second while Tendou says "Rider . . .Kick" then demolishes everything in front of him.

I kinda wish they'd given you attack option for all three triggers, but then I wish PunchHopper and KickHopper had been in the game too.

And that's not even mentioning when he goes into Hyper Kabuto mode.
