Did the Japanese boxes not tip you off in the slightest? Did the Gokaiger and Jetman Figuarts confuse you? The popularity of the PR seasons is mostly irrelevant, I don't know why you're writing as if its important to what will be released.
Turbo was not popular, but Carranger (which Turbo took footage from) was very popular. The market for Carranger, where the target audience is, is likely up there as a candidate for any hypothetical "Akibaranger Season 3" Figuarts and would probably be a big hit. I like Power Rangers almost as much as I like Super Sentai, but come on, people. These are not Power Ranger figures.
I guess you didn't take the time to read what I was actually saying. That none of it is likely to happen. My comment was because someone said they were hoping that they would start making figures from all the old PR/Sentai shows in order (specifically from Zeo and Turbo). I never said that these were only Power Rangers toys or that that was a main factor in what gets made. Not sure what you are reading. Just because I used the names of the Ranger series instead of the Sentai series does not imply that I wasn't referencing both in terms of popularity for toy purposes. It's not like the release of a blu-ray or something where the products would be vastly different. For toy purposes TyrannoRanger and the Red Power Ranger are exactly the same thing. I don't know why anyone would think any differently or care so much about which series is referenced when making comments on a toy forum. As for PRiS/Megaranger I think that even with that being the second most popular old PR series stateside I don't think it compares to MMPR in terms of nostalgia for people buying these and isn't likely to factor in so I don't think that Zeo or Turbo would either. I guess that wasn't very clear.
I can't comment on how popular or unpopular a Sentai series from 20 years ago but there is a reason they haven't been taking the time to make those figures. Maybe there is a huge market in Japan for Carranger figures but it's still an older show and they have to believe the market is big enough to sell what they produce before they even think about making the figures. Don't know if that means focus groups or just the feel of the room where the decisions are made. One thing for sure that they know these 20 year old figures will have appeal both in Japan and stateside. Eventually we may get figuarts of every Sentai character ever to make it to the screen but for now that doesn't seem likely. It's all about money.
I will say that Japanese companies do take into account markets outside of Asia when making figures, it just usually isn't something they feel makes a difference. It's all about the OVERALL market and if they feel the toys will be profitable. I mean, Sentai aired outside of Japan as well. Look at all the Gundam Wing Robot Damashii we are getting and you can see they pay attention the large English market when it makes sense.
Anyway, your response came off kind of dickish and a bit presumptuous.
