The Batman sets have not regressed at all. While its a matter of taste, because the new ones usually have a more cartoon vibe to them, the modern ones I think are superior. Reality is that LEGO is still leagues ahead of MegaBloks and Kre-O in terms of quality builds. They're definitely improving, but they have a long way to go before they have builds as good and intelligent (while also fun) as LEGO's.
