Having the chance to play others online and constantly hone my gameplay was a godsend when you realized that the computer AI in fighters tend to just read inputs to beat the player.
I love multiplayer as well but what I don't love is that game devs seemed to start putting the multiplayer above the main campaign, even on games that don't even usually have multiplayer. Leaving both the multiplayer and the single player campaigns to feel tacked on and half finished because rather than focusing on making a good game, they are focusing on market trends.
