It's...alright. Certainly no Megamax that's for sure.
The Fourze part was a pretty mixed bag. While they all seem to have landed pretty amazing careers they've only been out of HIGH SCHOOL for like 4 years, Gentaro being a teacher was the only one that felt strange (Yuuki as an astronaut was obviously gonna happen no matter how implausible). While the start really dragged (that chase scene went on way too long), once the club were back together and ALL kicking ass it was really enjoyable. Up until Gen threw the driver that is. I understand what they were trying to get across with that scene but it still felt like a really crap resolution. All the Inazuman stuff that followed felt completely tacked on. Oh, and Nadeshiko was there for whatever reason. Oh well, was nice to see her again.
The Wizard portion was a lot more eh. I guess I'd enjoy it more if I gave a damn about Poitrine, but I don't. Bonus points for being flashy as hell and having Rinko do things though. Was great seeing Phoenix too, Medusa works so much better when alongside him.
Will post thoughts on the final part tomorrow.
Let's be honest with ourselves, no crossover rider movie is Megamax levels of awesome. But all in all? Ultimatum is actually pretty good. The best parts are hard to determine since most of the film is of the same quality. But I enjoyed it. The Akumaizer didn't need to be the villains but I get that this was an Ishinimori love letter so they were cool as was Potrine even if she was a bit forced. Though finding out that
Doughnut Shop owner was Poitrine
is one of the first laugh out loud moments I've had with Kamen Rider in recent memory.
