It's the same universe the Nexus TV show took place in if that's what you mean. But if you mean how he wound up in the ruins of Mirror Knights world then IDK. I'm about 3 episodes away from the finale so I don't know how/why or even if an explanation could be given. But literally anything could have happened in the proceeding years after the finale of Nexus.
