It's not entirely necessary, but with many KR series seemingly obligated to have some sort of midseason twist, it's more of a courtesy for spoilers in the "What Are You Watching" threads, but not a necessity.

I do agree with you on the Weekly discussion threads, though.

It's a courtesy, that I'm very thankful of, I've been spoiled details of Blade and other show before even if it wasn't intentional.
And even if it's old there are still people out there that haven't watched it.

As for the spoiler tags in the episode discussion it is pointless, I've done it before, but honestly if you haven't watched the epsiode why are you on the freaking thread!?
If you opened it you should have already watched it.
