My guess is they didn't want to risk confusion since Triassic looks a lot like regular red. It was easier to just do it like the Sentai.

It’s been done before. (Our buddy Utopia up there being the most recent one I can think of that’s like that.)

And Utopia was awesome as a final boss. I mean, incredible design aside, (GOD when is his Figuart due oout!?) he was quite interesting while he was around since he was, like, an emotionally-driven person with the inability to express emotion properly.

Then again I've never seen Gremlin so maybe he sucks but from what I hear he was introduced way earlier compared to Utopia on top of everything.
